USA –  -(  On May 22 2017, Salman Abedi, 22, waiting at the entrance of the Arianna Grande pop concert in Manchester, blew himself up, killing almost two dozen people, among them parents waiting to pick up their children.

Saturday, three Islamic terrorists committed “suicide-by-cop,” using a van to run down pedestrians on London Bridge, and then slashing and stabbing patrons of pubs and diners in the nearby Borough Market.

By all accounts, the killers bore no special grudge against those they murdered. They appear not even to have known their victims.

Why, then, did they kill these strangers, and themselves?

A BBC eyewitness suggests a motive: “They shouted, ‘This is for Allah', as they stabbed indiscriminately.”

The murderers were Muslims. The rationale for their crimes lies in the belief that their bloody deeds would inscribe them in a book of martyrs, and Allah would reward them with instant ascension into the paradise that awaits all good Muslims.

Ideas have consequences. And where might these crazed killers have gotten an idea like that?

Is there a strain of Islam, the basis of which can be found in the Quran, that would justify what the murderers did at London Bridge?

On Palm Sunday, an explosion in Tanta, 56 miles north of Cairo, killed 29 and injured 71 Copts as they prayed at the Mar Girgis church. A second blast at a church in Alexandria killed 18 and wounded 35.

On May 26, masked gunmen stopped two buses carrying Coptic Christians to Saint Samuel the Confessor Monastery in Egypt, and opened fire, killing 26 and wounding 25.

“I call on Egyptians to unite in the face of this brutal terrorism,” said Ahmed el-Tayeb, the grand imam of al-Azhar, Egypt's 1,000-year-old center of Islamic learning.

Yet, years of such atrocities have effected a near-complete cleansing of Christianity from its cradle provinces in the Holy Land.

If these persecutors and killers of Christians are apostates to Islam, headed to hell for their savageries, why have not all the imams of the world, Shiite and Sunni, risen together to condemn them as heretics?

Clearly, from the suicide bombings and shootings of civilians in the Middle East, now across the West, there is a belief among some Muslims that what the killers are doing is moral and meritorious — taking the martyr's path to salvation.

When have the imams of Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, and West ever stood as one to condemn all such acts as against the tenets of Islam?

In condemning the London Bridge attack, Prime Minister Theresa May said that recent atrocities across England were “bound together by the single evil ideology of Islamist extremism.”

Correct. There is an extremist school of Islam that needs to be purged from the West, even as this school of fanatics is seeking to purge Christianity from the East.

  • We are at war. And the imams of Islam need to answer the question: “Whose side are you on?”
  • Are honor killings of girls and women caught in adultery justified? Are lashings and executions of Christian converts justified?
  • Do people who hold such beliefs really belong in the United States or in the West during this long war with Islamist extremism?

Other questions need answering as well.

Is our commitment to diversity broad enough to embrace people with Islamist beliefs? Is our First Amendment freedom of speech and of religion extensive enough to cover the sermons of imams who use mosques to preach in favor of expelling Christians from the Middle East and an eventual takeover of the West for an Islam where Sharia replaces constitutional law?

Are such Islamist beliefs not intolerable and perilous for our republic?

Clearly, the West is in a civilizational struggle, with the outcome in some doubt.

Four years after Pearl Harbor, the Japanese empire had ceased to exist. Japan was smoldering ruins, its navy at the bottom of the Pacific. An American proconsul, Douglas MacArthur, was dictating to the Japanese from the Dai-Ichi building.

Today we are in the 16th year of a war begun on 9/11. We are mired down in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Our victory in Afghanistan is being reversed by the Taliban.

While the ISIS caliphate is being eradicated in Raqqa and Mosul, its elements are in two dozen countries of the Mideast. Muslim migrants and refugees, ISIS and al-Qaida among them, are moving into Europe.

Terrorist attacks in the West grow in number and lethality every year. The new normal. Now, second-generation Muslims within Europe seem to be converting to a violent version of Islam.

To fight them, we are being forced to circumscribe our sovereignty and empower police and intelligence agencies of which free men were once taught to be wary.

Wars, it is said, are the death of republics. And we now seem to be caught up in an endless war.

    1. There is no such thing as extremist Muslims: Islam itself is Extreme by its very doctrinal nature.

Isis, Al Qaeda, the so-called hate preachers (imams), they are the ones preaching true doctrinal Islam!

Wake up people, we are faced with a choice: either we understand that Islam is at war with us, which means that 70%-80% of the 1.7 billion Muslims on the planet are our enemies.

Denying that fact, is utterly suicidal.

    2. LDavis,
and what makes your statement different than demanding our liberal politicians and academics wake up to todays’ attacks on conservative thinking and those of us who will not be a victim?

    3. The most troubling factor for me in all of this is that the leaders of the Islamic faith and the leaders of predominantly Islamic countries essentially have remain mute on the subject. There has been no condemnation of these acts from Saudi Arabia, for example; by omission, then, that nation – presumably the most influential in the Islamic world – is condoning these attacks, even when perpetrated upon other Muslims. It seems that violence and destruction of established societies are acceptable to this “religion of peace.” It does no good for Western civilization to condemn radical Islamism if the religion itself takes no heed. Perhaps there is a change in the tide, however. In England, imans refused to hold funerals for the thugs who committed the brutalities on London Bridge. In Egypt, there has been an official response to a recent bombing, calling for a unified effort to stop such actions. In the Philippines, the actions of ISIS radicals recently has been met with no quarter. One can only hope that Islam is awakening to the atrocities committed in the name of Allah and is beginning to recognize that its religion has been usurped by violent political power. Only when the religious and national leaders declare that they have had enough and take action to end this “endless war” will there be any change in world relations.

      1. @LDavis, Do not be fooled. Islam encourages some of the believers to attack and kill infidels while others condemn the violence. It is a tactic used to confuse their enemies. The koran is filled with tactics meant to be used weaken any resistance to Islam. America needs to remove them from our shores and right soon or become like Europe. Islam brings misery and suffering wherever it goes. Can anyone deny this?

    4. During the Desert Storm times, I was given a copy of the Quoran, by a man, in Hafr-al-Batin. It had an english translation on each page. If you want the straight scoop on this religion, I suggest you get one and read it, also. “Cal” is not to far off in his opinions, from what I have read. As Julius Caeser said, ” Hold your friends close and your enemies even closer!”

Stay alert, stay resolute and stay strong, in these troubled times.

    5. Islam has waged a war against all other non-believers since the 8th century. We have been fighting the assaults of Muslims since our country’s founding (check out the Marine hymn). The problem is Islam, not those who are attacked by this vile and centuries old political movement. By their own dogma and widely deseminated writings, we have two choices: we die or they die. It is up to them to change, not the rest of humanity. To cease fighting an enemy that is working to destroy you is suicide!

      1. Well said Cal! As for all you Islam apoligists try to wake up before they cut off your head.

      2. And Christianity has warred with non-believers over the centuries yet no one’s calling for the extinction of Christians.

        1. Who gives a damn about whats happened over the centuries. Rub the liberal crap out of your eyes and see what is happening now. Nothing can be done about the past. Islam is commiting murder now. Where are Christians commiting murder mow?

          1. @Chuckb, GFYG’s comment is a conclusion based upon twisted facts and faulty history. Christianity was not spread by war. Christianity was spread by Apostles and missionaries.
People like GFYG, better pray every day that Islam does not take over the U.S. because Islam will not tolerate their speech, their behavior, or their life style.

            1. It was most certainly was. You like to pretend those who did the hard work to force the masses to Christianity were a rogue bunch. Never mind they were the reason 1/3 of the world is Christian today.

            2. @Chuckbone, GOD talked to me while I was out on the tractor doing some ditch mowing. GOD said that he wanted me to start a new religion dedicated to the proposition that “the TRUTH is the opposite of the truth.” The high spokesman for this religion would be someone named GFYG, who would present himself, in writing, as if by magic. The symbol for this new religion would be the perfect circle.

        2. That’s a load of horse crap! The Muslims want to do away with all Christians, or as they call us (Infidels). In their worldview there is no room for any other religion than their own. The rest of us Dhimmi’s must either pay a tax to exist in their world or die if we don’t want to convert. Christianity doesn’t preach slavery moron, nor does it preach death. It does however say that non-believer’s do condemn themselves to everlasting damnation. So you’ll probably have a nice long stay, best pack some tanning lotion for the warm climes of Hell.

          1. @Jim, Apparently, GFYG does not know, or will not admit, that moslems hate dogs…or he agrees with them.

            1. @WB wonder if mas-in-gil is allowed to eat pork , or maybe dogs? I know better than to ask about goats, hear they save those for other functions.

            2. @WB if mas-in-gil were to eat a ham, wonder if he ever figured out what that ham was cured of. that may be over his head you may have to explain that to him.

            3. Do you suppose mas-in-gil lives in the getto???. oops I mean the new Democrat Plantation !!!

        3. Apparently mas-in-gil can’t hear the muslims calling for the extermination of all the infidels !!!!

    6. Well the same could be said for the Jews who while in the US expounded that they should be killing Arabs / Mulims in what is now Isreal.

It’s not as simple as Pat would make it, but I do agree half measures will not suffice. We can not back out of countries that we have “taken”, we can not back down from the threat.

I believe that our country is great for having a broad view of life, but in the end we must have a mainly North European view otherwise the culture is lost as are the freedoms that have been fought for.

While I do not agree with how Trump has framed things, I do believe that we must have a better vetting process, and I also believe that while we have outlawed Satanism that the Muslim religion should perhaps be outlawed in the US as well. It spreads ideas that are not in line with a North European culture.

Unfortunately Trump is wanting to pull us off the world stage just when we need to be on it. Speaking out against Extremist Islam and drawing a different line in the sand. One that states you are not welcome at all in the US. You want to be here, then you must convert. End of story. That religion has proven itself to be a snake in the forest and like a poison snake needs to be watched and eradicated.

      Wake up Smell the Coffee…

      1. Trump met with over 60 Muslim country Leaders and basically told them to get their ducks in a row on Radical Islamist or lose US support. With in days they put Qatar on notice.

      2. And those Muslims who’ve been here for generations? Hindus? Baha’is? How about the Native religions? Hardly Northern European. E pluribis Unum?

      3. I’m confused, how is “expounding” a call for action against a group hostile to your existence congruent with the action of killing those who don’t believe a radical doctrine? Your entire post jumps the fence so many times I got tennis neck reading it! When was satanism outlawed? Part of the problem we have is due to wishy washy points of view that never resolve themselves! While President Trump’s political edges are rough he calls it like he sees it and he’s correct.Grow some nads dude. Take a real stand! Oh, and bone up on your history of the Zionist movement in the US…

    7. what you have to understand is, this is not radical Islam. This is true Islam. Those moslems who do not kill random infidels are less than committed. These murderous moslems are the standard issue normal moslems.

      1. @explainist, Yep, it is just Islam. Lying to us to get control is allowed. Killing us to get control is allowed. moslems that do not actually participate give aid and encouragement.

    8. A simple search will bring up Muslim condemning the terror attacks but Pat & co. would assume it’s just a ruse.

      1. Dear VPC Gil
You can’t really be that stupid, right? BTW, that’s a rhetorical question.

        1. Gil’s not stupid but he is extremely ignorant. The latter can be cured with factual information but I highly doubt that will happen. When one is so wedded to their ideology that they will spend hours a day trolling websites with an opposing view, they are more than likely a lost cause. Certainly, Gil is one of those leftists who would crucify a Christian for not wanting to bake a “gay wedding cake” while simultaneously acting as an apologist for Muslims who would blow up little girls at a pop concert. Some mental illness is likely involved.
