U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA)West Bend, WI-(Ammoland.com)- The United States Concealed Carry Association has responded to an effort led by New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel to stop The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act introduced by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) in the House and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in the Senate. At its annual meeting this week, the U.S. Conference of Mayors adopted a broad resolution attacking this common-sense legislation and stating that the “goals of this legislation are completely antithetical to all of the efforts to reduce and prevent gun violence….”

Remarkably, this comes just days after the recent shooting of Republican Members of Congress in Virginia, where the lack of concealed carry reciprocity in the District of Columbia prevented any of them from traveling to Virginia with a firearm. It was only because of the heroism and quick-thinking of two Capitol Police officers and arriving Alexandria police that many lives where not lost.

“This effort by liberal big city Mayors is completely tone-deaf in both its goals and its reasoning. While many of them, including Mayors De Blasio and Emmanuel, travel around with armed security guards, they want regular law-abiding citizens to go unprotected,” said Tim Schmidt, Founder and President of The United States Concealed Carry Association. “It is time for there to be national reciprocity for concealed carry permits, instead of the patchwork of laws governing reciprocity that vary by state. Virginia, where the shooting happened, has reciprocity for some states’ concealed carry permits, but if Members would have brought their guns back and forth from D.C., they would have been breaking the law. It should never be a crime to be responsibly prepared to defend yourself in any possible situation.”

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Congressman Richard Hudson (D-NC) have introduced the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, which would allow legal gun owners and concealed carry permit holders nationwide to responsibly arm themselves no matter where they are. Responsible gun owners take self-defense seriously, and these individuals have already proven that they are willing to comply with the law, by fulfilling all of the requirements associated with getting a concealed carry permit. Criminals, by definition, have no regard for laws or permits or gun free zones, and by allowing safe, responsible citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights, our communities could be much safer.

So let me see if I have this correct. A law abiding citizen has to get a carry license to carry concealed or open, but the bad guys don’t? What part of stupid don’t they get. We need a permit for any law abiding citizen that is good anywhere in the US and no state can supersede it period. Crime capitols are in the states and cities that do not allow the carrying of a weapon. Again what part of stupid don’t they get.

Heed the Call-up

Drew, what part of stupid? All of it, but we have a resident Lost Child/Anti-gun rights/anti-self-defense advocate that can help you with that.

Nation-wide Right-To-Carry, Nation-wide Castle Doctrine. Because in times of crisis… “We’re sorry, all circuits are busy”

Only Gavin Newsome needed to make it the 3 Stooges. All are pathetic Socialists bent on protecting criminals vs. prevention of crime.

The Communist Elite, they do not believe in respecting or following the Constitution of the United States of America, or the Bill of Rights.
These two mayor’s mentioned are the true essence of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. They are the corrosive destruction of our Cities and States. What’s good for one is good for all, except for them. Remember they fear all law abiding citizens,
because if they did not, they would not have armed details surrounding them. They are the double standard.

So States rights isn’t a thing now?

Tionico

states rights cannot trump a God-given RIGHT that existedlong before this nation was founded, and is not dependent on any Constitution or other document.

Further, EVERY state that has joined the Union agreed to uphold and abide by out Constitution, AS WRITTEN and ammended, when they joined the Union. There was eo exception for that Second Article of Ammendment.

Heed the Call-up

Gil, most of the states’ Constitutions have wording very similar to the 2A; so they are also in violation of their own Constitutions. The problem is getting the politicians and courts to acknowledge that and correct it.

National reciprocity will help alleviate the symptoms; it isn’t the cure, but it is a start.

Hey Gil, are we going hunting or not. With the changing seasons come changing what we can hunt(kinda of). So what do you old pal, me , you, empty forest devoid of any human presence and me with gun to help teach you.

Let me get this straight: the mayors of two of the most dangerous, high-crime rate cities – with some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country – are the most outspoken about disarming the citizens in the rest of the country? Their own cities are like a statistician’s dream in proving, well beyond statistically relevant numbers, that their idiotic gun control measures don’t work.

Facts have no place in the agenda. Truths must be hidden. “Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal.” – Janet Reno “What good does it do to ban some guns. All guns should be banned.” – Sen. Howard Metzanbaum “Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed.” Sara Brady, Chairman, Handgun Control, to Sen. Howard Metzanbaum, The National Educator, January 1994, Pg. 3. (Neither Brady or Metzenbaum denied this correspondence) “Confiscation could be an option…mandatory sale… Read more »

@Gunwrites: thanks for sharing these quotes. Truth can be stranger and scarier than fiction!

The ignorance of these people about firearms, self-defense, and related statistics is incredible — it is almost like they are *deliberately* trying to remain as ignorant as possible about those topics.

Amen!

Pistol Pete

I guess these mayors lives are more important than the lives of regular law abiding citizens of this country?
They need to give up there armed security guards if they think that taking guns away from law abiding citizens will reduce gun crimes. How many of these mayors are so confident that taking guns away from law abiding citizens will reduce crime that they give up there armed guards?

Ross Campbell

The constition is not state limited,as far as these mayors against 2nd amendment, give up your security!
