I do not buy any Federal ammo, last time I did was 22 cal, it destroyed my 22, THE ammo EXPLODED IN M RIFLE. IT cut my face and my brother in laws and we couldn’t hear for some time. I went back to the dealer he just laughed said impossible . I worked in sporting goods for several years so I knew the different reps, so I showed them my Winchester rifle, they said it was the rifle fault…BS.. I ask several gun smiths they agreed with me it was the shell!! I called the factory with this they… Read more »

Bob its been awhile but maybe you look back on occasion. I was curious if you ever determined the cause. Almost sounds like a sqib load, as if the previous shot did not clear the barrel. Bolt destroyed or barrel split? . .22 do not hold allot of powder. no more than 2 grains. I bought my last center fire cartridge in 1978. I moved to RWS, and then also Eleys and Lapua for rim fire. Bought allot of 22 in the 60’s 70’s and had some dead ones but the bullet never moved out of the case. Glad you… Read more »

I have no real faith in federal ammo myself. Reload several cals and their factory ammo is often weak power loads. I had an entire lot bought that had un-burnt powder spill. So to me their quality is in question and they just blew it off when I e-mailed them. This whole polymer coated round at this price is a no go. Not only cleaning out melted plastic but paying more to have the headache. As a few have stated if I want to shoot coated bullets you can get them for $11 per 100. Federal is just entering an… Read more »

David,
I don’t get it either. Reloaders have had access to polymer coated bullets for a while now and they have always been at the bottom end of the price range. When Federal came out with their Syntech ammo I thought “Cool, a new, cheap ammo option” until I saw what they were asking for it. I guess it is Federal’s “super-special-premium” polymer coating.

So what kind of fouling does IT cause? Polymer fouling that is a real PITA to get out.

David

Why so much. I have been buying polymer coated bullets for $11.00 per hundred in 45 ACP 230 gr.round nose
