USA –-( KCTV 5 in Kansas City, Missouri reports 07-18-2017 police report just before 5 in the morning, a resident and his girlfriend were returning from Walmart after working the night shift at their job.

“My girlfriend and I put the groceries inside and I was going to walk her back to her car,” the male victim said.

Then a man, dressed in all black, came around (a corner) saying give me this, give me that and threatening us with a gun. The male victim gave the armed robber everything inside his pockets.

“But we were backed up into our apartment. My door was open he was beckoning us to go into the apartment,” the male victim said. Frightened, he made the decision to grab what he knew could possibly save them, his own weapon that was just inside the door and fight back.

“I walked out, he was still holding the gun and I thought he was going to shoot me that minute, and I just took a couple shots and he ran off,” the victim told police. Unsure if he had hit the gunman, the victim and his girlfriend went inside to hide and call police.

Responding police say they later found the robber dead.

“The last thing I wanted to do is use my firearm. That's the last thing I wanted to do. But am I glad I had it? Yes, I am because things could've gotten very ugly, very fast if I hadn't,” the victim said.

The victim here tries to avoid problems by submitting to the robbers demand to empty his pockets. When the robber fails to disengage as 90% usually do, the threat escalates.

The criminal attempts to force the couple into the apartment. There is no way the victim can allow that with the risk that he and his girlfriend would be assaulted or murdered.

Fortunately, he keeps a pistol near the front door to be handy as he answers the door. Keeping a ready firearm near your home entrances and exits is always a prudent choice to repel intruders or facilitate your own armed escape.

The other smart choice was to stay inside and let the cops do the pursuit. Once you are safe, stay safe!

    1. any law that is unconstitutional is null and void and has no standing, period. states that enact laws that are unconstitutional are run by tyrants and they need to be dealt with either the ballot or the cartridge box. Politicians that think the cartridge box will never be used are whistling past the graveyard of history. IE: The battle of Athens 1946, Athens Tennessee, Lexington and Concord Penn. USA . The Boston massacre, French Revolution, Spanish Inquisition, I could go on and on here but I think you all get the point. Tyrants all have one thing in common, they got no skin in the game. They have no morals and they think that no one else does either. They do not understand that the true patriots will only tolerate so much and they will take a stand. (you take my life, my liberty, my property) Most all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, lost their lives, and their property. The ones that managed to survive the American Revolutionary war died in poverty. The Tyrants will always shoot first, they always do because they fear the citizens. They always make that mistake to their ultimate undoing.

      1. Good point. However people can be locked up for 10-20 years waiting for a court to declared the law null and void. Until even a bad law is declared to be null and void and all prior convictions are voided you can still be punished.
Justice Scalia didn’t say that all gun laws were constitutional, he warned that until the SCOUS actual considered all the myriad of laws on GFSZ, magazine bans, open carry bans, etc you can still be arrested and convicted.
The MSM quotes out of context to pretend that Scalia upheld all the gun laws except Washington, D.C.
You can “FEEL” pure and correct all the way to the gallows or you can follow te bad laws while you work to get them changed by all means, elections, courts, and legislators.

    2. Now the scumbags family will tell the public what a great guy he was and had been trying to turn his life around. The media will attack the man and his girlfriend in their press and insinuate he was the actual threat. I have my opinion as do many others but it is safe to say “good riddance” to the POS. I think we all agree on that point. May he rot is hell. To the man and his girlfriend, “good shooting in a time of stress”.

    3. Why leave one inside the door when You can carry one in your pocket, on your hip or in a shoulder holster? Get you CWL and be Always Ready ~ Semper Paratus.

Our founders did not put the Second Amendment in the Constitution to keep a gun in your home, but at the ready to bring violence on those whom attempt to do you harm.

      Nice shootin’ Sir.

      1. @Puddle Pirate, re “You can carry one …” — that makes the rather large assumption that you live in a “sane” state. I assume you are one of the fortunate ones, that do (and the rest of us are envious).

Folks in NY, NJ, MA, and in the populous areas (where self-defense is most needed) of CA have virtually zero chance of snagging a concealed carry permit :-(. The majority of voters in those states are so brainwashed by left-wing groups that they keep voting in politicians (and ballot measures) that do their darnedest to disarm everyone.

        1. I wonder if the FBI halted the “investigation” into Russian meddling with the 2016 election and investigated the elections in the “anti-gun” states they might find that the elections were as corrupt as the local political machine.

          1. @Lucky is correct … about half a dozen counties in CA have more registered voters on the rolls than they have resident citizens over 18. Some of that is because people have died or moved and haven’t been scrubbed from the rolls, but some of it could be from non-citizens managing to illegally register themselves to vote. Either way, the voter rolls need to be fixed, to prevent fraud. San Diego was one of the more egregious offenders, in terms of more registered voters than citizens over 18.

The Judicial Watch organization was recently in the news for issuing warning to those CA counties, that if they don’t clean up their voter rolls, they will sue to get them cleaned up (and have succeeded with that at counties in other states).

      2. I live in the Great State of Georgia. Open carry with a gubment permission slip that is accepted in 31 other states. Great for travel to or thru the other Southern states. Just keep to holsters in the truck. . . .

        1. @Puddle Pirate, I’m certainly happy for you (and envious!). You can not only GET a permit, but you can even carry openly (although if I had a permit, I’d only want to carry concealed).

In our “blue” metro area of CA, we can’t carry at all, no how, no way. Open carry is totally against the law. It is impossible to get a concealed carry permit, unless you’re really wealthy/connected. Constitutional Carry? — ya gotta be kidding :-(.

And when you say “truck” — most of us reading this forum know that you mean pickup truck, but out in “blue” lands there are almost *no* pickup trucks (which I’ll bet you find exceedingly hard to believe). The only pickup trucks I see driving around are those used by landscapers & carpenters. Almost no one has a personal pickup in their driveway. I’d venture to say that there are more Teslas than there are pickup trucks, and pick-’em-up trucks are *vastly* outnumbered by Priuses. I just mention this to help folks in “normal” areas to glean a tiny inkling of how living in a radically “blue” metro area is like living on another *planet*!

          1. What I did was move from Long Island NY to Fla in 1986, commercial fished the Gulf of Mexico for 25 plus years and retired to Northern Georgia. Didnt think anything about a weapons permit until my buddy came over with his S&W 357 on his hip. * lightbulb went off * and I sent in for my CWP. Now I dont leave home without one on my hip. Local LE loves it too…
Gunshows are 5 bucks at the door, cash and carry any caliber with the CWL.
Side note of funny ~ My sister is married to a Suffolk County Long Island NY policeman. They stopped in with their kiddo’s on their way to mickey and minny rat land in Fla. I answered the door with my open carry on and my sister immediatly stated ” Can you take that off until we leave? ” ummm no your married to a COP for cryin out loud.. She didnt stop by on the way back to NY… LMAO

            1. Wow. Yep, a whole ‘nuther world.

Our here, some folks ask if you have a gun in your home and if you say “yes” (even if it is always locked up in a safe!), they may refuse to come to your house and sure as H*LL will not let their kids near your home. I think that’s 70% a case of people being afraid of something they don’t understand, and 30% a case of people being brainwashed by folks like Bloomberg.

Gun show admission here is now $14, and if you buy a gun you need a full background check and it has to sit at an FFL for 10 days (with a $35 fee). But there’s not much point in looking for a pistol at a gun show, since about 2/3 of the pistols y’all can buy elsewhere in the country are *illegal* to buy here. No new model pistols since 2013 are available, because anything after that has to have microstamping, and NO mfr does microstamping. Older models keep dropping off the list every year, making the selection smaller and smaller. Not to mention, sometimes the same pistol in one color is on the legal list, but in a different color (e.g. FDE or purple) isn’t not on the list, so is illegal. For example, no Ruger Mark IV .22 pistols, no Sig P320s or P938s, no Ruger American pistols, no gen4 Glocks, no S&W models that are red-dot-ready. Total insane nonsense — but it’s the law. The only thing that will help us is a Supreme Court case that causes this law to be declared unconstitutional.

      3. Because the article said he just got off work and was not allowed to have a gun at work that’s why he did not have a gun on him. I started carrying a taser (a big one like brass knuckles that has spikes on it) and a switchblade since that is not “technically” against company policy but carrying a firearm on company property is. I am not walking around ANYWHERE without protection. Too many crazy people.

        1. The Second Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791. It reads:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Where does it say ” Permit ” ” gubment permission * * maximum bullets * No Sound Suppressors ( LEGAL here in GA ) * * No Semi or Full Auto ~ Also Legal with a FED stamp *
It doesn’t. The left states have twisted our God given rights up into knots so far away from their original meaning and understanding that If I was to travel thru any of them, NY included, they would bury my under the prison. Laura Snider, you have a great attitude! Thou it may be time for a move to a more firearm friendly state. Criminals do not respect gun laws.
I send flowers when someone in my family passes on whom resides in a state that does not honor and respect our constitution.
The Constitution resides as a framework for the states to follow and if, the states, dishonor that document with oppressive rules, laws and regulations, I will not spend my money in that state. My little way of protest.
No rain today, YaY, the range in my backyard is open!

          1. @Puddle Pirate: where does it say bla bla bla? It says so in the state laws of NY, NJ, CA, etc. And those states’ respective Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal have proven themselves incapable of reading both the plainly-worded 2A *and* the even clearer _Heller_ decision, which should clearly cause those state laws to be stricken down. Hopefully yet another Constructionist judge will be appointed to the SCOTUS, and a couple of 2A lawsuits will then be accepted by SCOTUS for review.

            1. And that is why I live in Georgia, The Great State of. State Laws are Of the People, By the People, For the People. The Government works for us, not the other way around.
NY NJ CA are states the I will not grace with my presents, nor funds.
I have been thru background checks for my CWL, Local, State, and Federal, plus my 6 years in the military, I have the proper training to protect my Country let alone myself and those around me. So why is it that the above mentioned states deny myself, and many others, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms? They think they know better… Living on my land in the mountains, the police are 25 minutes away. My weapon is on my hip has a response time is 1050 FPS. Bears, Coyote’s, Foxes and others that inhabit the land have been here long before me and are treated as such. However, They dont know that I am at the top of the food chain, and react with firepower when my animals are attacked. Almost lost one of my chickens to a Fox. Three shots at it and I have not seen it since. If I would have had to call anyone for help, I would be minus one of my girls…

    4. Na – na – na – na – hey – hey – Goodbye!

      “Another one bites the dust
      Another one bites the dust
      Another one bites the dust
      Another one bites the dust
There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
      You can beat him
      You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
      When he’s down
But I’m ready, yes I’m ready for you
I’m standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating the sound of the beat

      Another one bites the dust
      Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
      Another one bites the dust
Hey, I’m gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust” – Queen
