2018 Texas State Youth Education Summit Application Process Now Open

FAIRFAX, Va. -(Ammoland.com)- The Texas State Youth Education Summit invites high school sophomores and juniors across the State of Texas to apply for the 2018 Texas Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.), an expenses-paid, four-day educational experience in Austin, Texas.

The 2018 Texas Y.E.S. is scheduled for March 1-4, 2018. Applications must be received by Jan. 8, 2018.

At the state level, the Y.E.S. program focuses on state government and the roles that the next generation of voters will play; with a special emphasis being placed on firearms ownership.

Students will have the chance to visit the Texas State Capitol, the Game Warden Training Academy, and the Bullock Texas State History Museum, among other educational sites.

At the range, students will learn about gun safety and proper firearm use by attending a shooting lesson. Participants will also work on developing public speaking skills by taking part in group debates and individual speeches.

Four students who showcase leadership skills during the program will be selected to represent Texas at the National NRA Youth Education Summit in July 2018.

Entry into the summit requires submission of a completed application form, a high school transcript, a three-page essay on the Second Amendment, a resume of activities, and three letters of recommendation. Those interested must have their application postmarked no later than Jan. 8, 2018.
