Duralar Names Phoenix-based CTI as Newest Provider of Hard-Coating Services

Duralar Technologies LogoTUCSON, AZ-(Ammoland.com)- Duralar Technologies, Tucson-area developer of advanced ultra-hard metal coatings has just named Phoenix-based Coating Technologies, Inc. (CTI) as the company’s newest authorized provider of Duralar coating services. The announcement was made jointly by Duralar CEO Andrew Tudhope and CTI Owner Robert Barrkman.

Duralar Technologies is the creator of a unique line of next-generation, ultra-hard coatings that can cover both the internal and external surfaces of metallic components. These coatings are used to enhance performance and increase the longevity of products in a broad range of industries. Duralar sells its proprietary coating systems to product manufacturers and also to commercial metal finishing operations — such as CTI.

“CTI is a premier performer,” said Tudhope. “They’re Nadcap-accredited and have many years of experience with the most advanced materials and surface finishing technologies. They have the know-how and professionalism we want in our partners who provide Duralar coating services.”

“For a long time we’ve been serving technology-savvy companies like Boeing, Colt and Rolls Royce with the latest in surface finishing,” said Barrkman. “Now, the innovative Duralar coatings are adding important new capabilities to CTI’s offerings. For example, Duralar’s ArmorLube coating combines exceptional hardness with permanent dry lubrication, making it a natural for all the firearms manufacturers we work with.”

Duralar’s ArmorLube coatings are created from a proprietary carbon-based formula, with the carbon providing a natural graphitic lubricity, often eliminating the need for oils or greases. Originally, ArmorLube was developed to enhance soldier weapon systems for the U.S. Army.

Duralar also offers several other specialized hard coatings aimed at reducing wear, protecting against corrosion or erosion, as a replacement for hard chrome, providing a decorative finish and other specifically engineered qualities. Duralar coatings are notable in that they can be applied with exceptionally high deposition speeds, enabling thicker coatings to be made when needed. Also, certain Duralar coatings can be simultaneously applied to both the inside and outside surfaces, using the company’s proprietary DualArmor process. This bathes metal parts in a dense plasma, so that all surfaces — interior, exterior and complex 3D shapes — can be coated with high uniformity, at a very high rate, and without the line-of-sight limitations of spray-type coatings.

Duralar’s next-generation ultra-hard coatings serve to improve product performance in a broad spectrum of industries — automotive, aerospace, firearms, oil & gas, chemicals, mining, textiles, medical, consumer products and more.
