USA -(Ammoland.com)- Since 2013 I have been watching gun owners in Illinois slipping into the quagmire of complacency. Complacency is certain death for gun rights or any other civil right.
Many thought that once we had concealed carry, everything would be hunky-dory, but that just isn’t the case. The left-wing anti-gun crowd is still smarting over concealed carry and wants to get even. They were knocked off their scheme of banning everything they possibly could when Concealed Carry passed. They have plenty of money and staying power.
The leftists have always hated the Second Amendment because it represents individual freedom and as Jeff Cooper said, it is the teeth of the United States Constitution.
The left believes that every citizen must grovel before the altar of government control. Rights would be doled out as the government sees fit. In the United States, gun owners just will not kneel or bow down before the altar of government control.
Moreover, the left is irked because the gun owners have revived and renewed the citizen’s interest and understanding of the U. S. Constitution.
The one thing the “bump stock” controversy did do is pull the mask off the crack pot left-wing lovelies like Hillary Clinton and Diane Feinstein. While there are many more lovelies out there, Feinstein’s omission that what they are proposing would do nothing to stop such awful events, telling us all that what they really want to do is get their meat hooks into our Second Amendment Rights and to tear it apart.
Whether they are at the national, state or local level, these people are dangerous and should not be underestimated. These people have nearly unlimited money; the only way to stop them is join organizations like the ISRA to fight them. When people become complacent, they drop their membership in pro-gun organizations like the ISRA, NRA and SAF. That is always a mistake.
HB4107 is a prime example of what the left always tries to make out of something like the “bump stock” controversy. What is proposed are wide ranging gun bans, ammunition bans and registration schemes that would wipe out private gun ownership in Illinois as we know it.
What is proposed in HB4107 is just a start; they want everything. I have already received calls asking about bump stocks and HB4107, and what our strategy is going to be.
Here is something you have to understand: the anti-gun crowd reads everything the ISRA puts out, as well as every other pro-gun organization. You have people who follow you on Facebook, Instagram and all forms of social media; they are not always your friends. The ISRA is always going to do everything we can to defeat anti-gun legislation, but telling everyone our strategy is not going to happen.
One thing I need to mention is that HB4107 is just the start to a landslide of anti-gun bills that we are going to see.
For example, yesterday, Representative Scott Drury (D – 58 Highland) introduced HB4112. HB4112 would make the possession, importation, sale or transfer of any crank, bump fire device, or any part or combination of parts, component, attachment or accessory that is designed to increase the rate of fire of semi-automatic rifle, but does not convert the rifle to a machine gun, a class 2 felony (3 to 7 years in prison). If such a rifle is possessed in the passenger compartment of a vehicle and loaded it is a class X felony.
