San José, CA – -( All California gun activists need to show up at the Oct 17  2017 meeting of the City Council at 1:30 PM to voice your opposition. And if you have friends that are gun owners you must get them to show up as well!

The San Jose City Council have decided the time is right to push through more restrictions based on a proposal that was rejected in Sept. 2016. Apparently, the tragedy in Las Vegas was too good an opportunity to pass up.

In brief, the ordinance will place one more additional burden on gun owners…. making them criminals for an unsecured weapon. It requires gun owners to safely store firearms in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock upon leaving their residence.

If the gun owner merely leaves a gun out of their safe or does not having a trigger lock on it when they leave their home they become a criminal.

And if the gun is stolen while unsecured, the ordinance will add more penalties for the gun owner.

Think about it.

The people who drafted the measure were careful to include the following: “A violation of such an ordinance would likely not come to light unless law enforcement was called to a home on a report of a burglary or other criminal activity.”

So all it takes is one busy-body neighbor or paranoid gun nut to call the police and “report ” something and the police get to enter your home. Once the police officer finds a reason to enter your home when you are away and finds an unsecured firearm, you become a criminal.

Think about this.

Prop 47 passed in 2014 and that made stealing a firearm a MISDEMEANOR [ instead of a Felony ] unless the gun was worth more than $950.00 or the thief had a past criminal history or murder, rape etc.

The same clowns who made it easier on criminals who steal guns now want to make gun owners more responsible than the criminal.

This is simply unacceptable.

Even the Chief of Police and the staff recommendation admit in their memo that they have low confidence that it will help reduce crime. They will only go so far as to say that this ordinance “may ” help.

So we know for certain what the ordinance will mean for gun owners, but we are supposed to be accept those costs on the grounds that it “may” help reduce crime.

You need to be at that Council Meeting and voice your opposition!

About the GS2AC

The Golden State Second Amendment Council is an independent firearms rights organization dedicated to the advancement of the right to keep and bear arms in California. Formerly organized as the NRA Members’ Council of Silicon Valley, we have reformed ourselves as an affiliation of Second Amendment activists in order to do those things a Member’s Council generally can not. In summary, there is a void to be filled in the firearms rights community and we seek to fill it. Our core concern is that the Second Amendment community must go on the offensive if we are to retain our right to bear arms in this state.

    1. Typical California crap. I wonder how many of those with latin last nanmes are sons or daughters of illegal aliens? I wonder if my posts gets censored … again. Hmmm …

    2. Look at the majority of names next to the pictures of the city council. They are not natural American citizens and you can expect them not to know what the fabric of this nation is or anything about the Constitution or Bill of Rights. California has been invaded by minorities and they are trying to destroy it just as their home country is. Makes no sense.

    3. Is this really a city in the United States of America upholding the Constitution And Bill of Rights? Sounds like they do not belong in this country at all?

      1. No, it isn’t. It’s a piece of California (that in itself should speak volumes) and is run by a liberal minority majority who do not understand the Constitution, Bill of Rights or Second Amendment (again, that’s because it’s in California). I can’t wait for that state to secede; can’t we just vote the bastards out?

        1. @Bob D, Actually, the U.S. Congress has the authority to change the borders of a state. Congress could create North and South California. Two new states from one old one. Just as Congress did with Virginia and West Virginia during the War Between the States. Thus the state laws of the old state of California, which would no longer exist, would also not exist.

          1. Would that it were that simple. You’d have to start somewhere a little North of Sacramento, and in order to avoid stranding the pockets of strong conservatives throughout the state, it would get pretty convoluted. Even then, there is no way to do it without leaving the nation’s three largest shipping ports in the hands of rabid leftists.

I would suggest that a better solution is to pressure Congress into doing their jobs in this case. There is a gargantuan list of Federal criminal charges that Congress could and should bring against Moonbeam, most of the California legislature, and every mayor and city council of every sanctuary city in the country. Since Sacramento effectively crossed the Rubicon with the sanctuary state law, I suspect something like this is already in the works, at least at the White House, but hasn’t yet been rolled out because of multiple distractions, such as Las Vegas.

            1. @JD, Well, brother, the feds could still go after those people. I was merely suggesting a way to wipe all of California’s legislation away, forever.
