Obama’s DOJ Funneling Money to Left Wing Groups

U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- Eric Holder and the Justice Department under Obama prevented bank payouts from going to conservative groups thus creating a slush fund for left-leaning organizations. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), who is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is quoted by the FoxNews as saying “It is not every day in congressional investigations that we find a smoking gun. Here, we have it.”

Under a controversial DOJ policy, Obama’s Justice Department allowed companies to give money to organizations that were not connected to their cases to meet settlement agreements. This practice means if Company A is convicted in a court of defrauding their customer base, that company could meet their burden by paying out to Planned Parenthood or a labor union.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte released the “smoking gun” emails that showed not only were DOJ officials involved in the selecting of which organizations would receive the settlement money, but actively worked to prevent money from going to conservative groups. This claim of selecting groups was earlier denied by the Obama era Justice Department in testimony to Congress.

Internal emails show that the DOJ blocked the Pacific Legal Foundation from getting settlement money from Citibank. The Pacific Legal Foundation is a conservative property-rights legal service. In the email the Karen Lash, Acting Senior Counselor for Access to Justice (names were redacted on the emails, but the title of the person sending the email was not. The emails were sent in July of 2014. Karen Lash was the Acting Senior Counselor for Access to Justice when the emails were sent), stated that state bar association affiliated entity should get the money to get the “right results.”

In a statement released by CEO Steven D. Anderson of the Pacific Legal Foundation, he said, “We are flattered that the previous administration would be concerned enough about our success vindicating individual liberty and property rights to prevent settlement funds from making their way to Pacific Legal Foundation.”

Emails showed that then-Associate Attorney General Tony West took a direct role in giving out the slush fund money. Charles R. Dunlap, executive director of the Indiana Bar even sent an email to West thanking him for his help.

“Now that it has been more than 24 hours for us all to try and digest the Bank of America settlement, I would like to discuss ways we might want to recognize and show appreciation for the Department of Justice and specifically Associate Attorney General Tony West,” The email went on to say “by all accounts Tony West was the one person most responsible”

One group that received money was the National Council of La Raza. La Raza, which means “the race” in Spanish. La Raza has been vital in getting out the vote campaigns for Democratic members of the government.

La Raza’s college branch is known as Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA). This group states they are not interested in being part of a melting pot of America but want recover land “stolen” from the Aztecs to create their nation in the South West of the US called Aztlan.

Their goal is called “Reconquista” which is Spanish for reconquest. They see this as a liberation of Aztlan and call for a “cleansing” of people of European, African, and Asian descent. They want to install a communist government in the lands they retake. They finish their mission statement by saying, “For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing.”

Under oath to Congress, Geoffrey Graber said that the DOJ “did not want to be in the business of picking and choosing which organizations may or may not receive any funding under the agreement.” Geoffrey Grabe oversaw these payouts for the DOJ. He has not responded to any media request for a statement.

Under President Trump’s Justice Department this practice has ended. Payout must go to the victims thus shutting down this slush fund.
