U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) today called for “military-style” guns to be locked away at gun clubs only. Foster is not one to shy away for calling for more gun control. He has called for universal background checks in the past as well as rallied against the people’s right to concealed carry a handgun.

Foster was responding to the mass shooting in Las Vegas where Stephen Paddock killed 59 people by firing from the Mandalay Hotel from two tripod mounted AR15s from the 32nd floor.

“I would hope that when you look at what’s happened with mass shootings in the last years that we, at a minimum, establish the principle that if you are going to own a military-type weapon that should be locked away in a gun club and not carried in public – that is completely consistent with the Second Amendment and it’s a principle that we should apply nationally,” he told reporters outside the US Supreme Court.

Foster argues that the second amendment does not block the federal government from ordering certain rifles to be locked up at a gun club. Although most legal scholars would disagree with his understanding of the second amendment he is adamant in his belief.

He also pushed the conspiracy theory that the Republicans in Congress is under the control of the NRA. “The [congressional] leadership is under the control, at least tremendously under the control of the NRA, and people think it’s the individual members of the NRA that are driving this. It is not the individual members. Individual members of the NRA know we need gun safety,” he told reporters. Foster has a D rating with the NRA.

He also accused gun manufacturers of selling weapons of mass destruction to the public and said that it is them that run the NRA instead of the membership, and he implied that they are putting profits in front of lives. He also attacked the SHARE act the same time.

“It is the gun manufacturers who are paying the freight and do not want limitations placed upon the manufacturing of assault weapons and silencers – that’s who is driving this debate, that’s who is telling the American public, ‘Be damned, we are going to sell these weapons of mass destruction.’” The congressman said and went on to infer that the manufacturers do not have a right to produce semi-automatic rifles.

Back in 2014, he had also brought out the mythical “gun show loophole” when he said “Our nation has suffered at least 74 school shootings since the Sandy Hook massacre. The factors allowing these rampages are no mystery: loopholes in the background check laws, straw purchases, restrictions on law enforcement, and gaps in our mental health system.” on his official website.

Rep. Foster also took the stance that AR-15s do not have any self-defense uses and are only used as offensive weapons to kill innocent people when he said, “Those are not guns that are used for people to defend themselves in their homes. Those are guns that are just used to kill hundreds and injure hundreds of people. They’re not really used for self-defense. ”

He ignored cases like that of Zachery Peters that used his AR-15 to defend against three home invaders.

In 2016 Bill Foster engaged in a sit-in to protest the tabling of the “no-fly, no-buy” bill that would have robbed people of due process by allowing the government to remove their right to purchase guns without evidence or a trial with no way to appeal the decision.

Has this booger eating moron lost his dictionary? To keep is to own, and to bear is to carry on one’s person. How does that equate to locked up in a gun club?
Methinks the Congressman has spent too much time in political circles and nowhere nearly enough time in the heartland where the AR is the most popular firearm in America, used for 3-gun, and run-and-gun sporting events, longrange target shooting, plinking, all ’round fun shooting, and personal/home defense. The man is full of Bullsh*t.

JoeUSooner

So full, in fact that the whites of his eyes (a reliable measuring stick, indeed) have turned brown.

Time to bounce his happy, ignorant ass unceremoniously across the parking lot !!

circle8

I have a suggestion for rep foster. How about we lock away the politicians. This country would be a lot better off if they weren’t out there with their hands out collecting payoffs from the “special interest” groups to ensure a politician become a millionaire within one term.

JoeUSooner

For forty-plus years I have advocated arresting and imprisoning Leftist politicians, who have – without even one single exception! – absolutely and completely disregarded their oaths of office in regard to supporting and protecting the Constitution.

Jim Macklin

The security of a free state was threatened when the British army occupied Boston in 1775. The British army marched out to Lexington and Concord to confiscate arms. So when the Constitution was written followed by the Bill of Rights was drafted it said two thinjgs…to protect freedom the people had to be able to KEEP arms privately secure from government confiscation, further the people must be able to BEAR [carry their private arms. In 1939 the only thing clear to the Supreme Court in the MILLER case was that the people were expected to have their private military arms.… Read more »

Re this “military style” guns, might they be those guns one sees walking about wearing those oh so cute Green Berets?

Alan

Who are these “moderators” anyhow, and how did they get where they are, and oh yes, what might be their qualifications for positions occupied.

JoeUSooner

“… the principle that military-type weapons… should not be carried in public… is completely consistent with the Second Amendment.” The English language does not have enough (or enough adequately descriptive) words to accurately convey the sheer, unadulterated ignorance – and despicable level of outright stupidity – in that statement. Yet, that statement is indeed a shining example of that mental midget’s IQ (which is identical to his shoe size)… he is not capable of being safely let out in public without a keeper! At least one of the 2nd Amendment’s four salient words, “shall not be infringed,” is completely beyond… Read more »

such MENTAL GIANTS LOL.

DAN III

Crump,

What PROOF do you have that Paddock was the shooter ? There are dozens of unanswered questions concerning the Las Vegas shoot. Yet, here you are stating as fact that which you know only what the MSM and the Marxist politicians have regurgitated.

You need to start writing for HuffPo or Politico. You’d fit right in.

Colonialgirl

And just WHO do you want to blame? Speaking of writing for Huffpo or Politico; you’d fit right in or even with the dead fish wrapper WaPo..
AT the present time , Paddock is the claimed and presumed shooter; ; Crump DOES NOT claim it’s a FACT set in stone.
Now back to your safe space.

DAN III

Colonialgirl,

“…..Paddock is the claimed and presumed shooter”. Damn, that sure is a contradictory statement. Seems that “CONFIRMED” just isn’t in your vocabulary or that of your beloved MSM and .gov scoundrels.

1. Claimed by who ?
2. Presumed by who ?

Of course , you forgot to state how YOU CONFIRMED Paddock as the alleged, lone shooter.

Get back in the kitchen where you belong.

Richard D. Wyatt

… and why the hell can’t you ? MSM doesn’t seem to have a problem with doing it !!!

DAN III

Crump, You don’t write or explain yourself well at all. You specifically cited Paddock as the shooter. There is absolutely NO PROOF that he was, other than a photo or two provided by your beloved .gov. Now you want to back pedal stating other than what you originally stated. “Alleged”. You may want to look up that meaning in your Webster’s. Or in your case go to the library for a copy, as I doubt you even own one. Learn how to use it. When to use it. Better yet, just quit writing your neanderthal essays that Ammoland ignorantly plasters… Read more »

Macofjack

@Dan III – I guess the police planted that it was his room, planted the guns and shot him to keep him from talking. Not sure what drugs you are on, but if you don’t want to live in the real world keep taking them!

Oh and don’t bother writing for the HuffPo or Politico, even they would not hire you!

DAN III

M-jack, No, the badged thugs didn’t plant diddly. They conveniently took 75 minutes to enter the alleged shooter’s roost. Then, and only then, after the shooting stopped. Oh, what heroes they are. Now you can confirm for Feinstein, Schumer, Michael Moore and all the other Leftist calling for the eradication of our firearms, using the Left’s narrative that some rich, gun-nut, WHITE guy (they haven’t decide if naming him as a Republican fits their narrative) committed the crime. You must be a hell of an investigator. Now go have another gin and wet your palate. You have a lot more… Read more »

Macofjack

@Dan III – Guess you missed the time line where the police arrived in about 12 minutes, the shooting had stopped so they spend their time clearing the floor of everyone before they breached at 73 minutes.

It has pretty much been proven that he was a left wing nut job, so again you don’t listen or are to STUPID to put two and two together.

So get out of mom’s basement, get a job and stop showing the entire blog what a total IDIOT you are!

DAN III

M-Jack, Damn, you certainly swill the .gov Kool-Aid. Your beloved badged thugs took their good, ol’ time entering the AO of the alleged shooter(s). Now, at what point do they decide to terminate any possible FURTHER engagement from the shooter ? How did they know and when did they believe it was safe enough for them to engage ? Seventy-five minutes later the badged thugs decide they can go home safely now and enter the alleged shooter(s) AO. BTW….it was 75 minutes, not 73 minutes. “….to stupid….” Now there’s a contradiction. In your slobbering ignorance you fail to use your… Read more »

@Dan III – You hit the nail on the head, you can’t fathom anything!

And I guess you can’t use my language properly, but then it goes back to the fathom problem. When you get a grasp on the language maybe you can start to use cogent argument.

And as a last point you fill the old adage very well “You can’t fix STUPID!” so I guess that let’s you out of any debate!

Must really suck to be you and live a life of total blindness!

ras

All Democrat politicians should be locked up.

Macofjack

So as always the unknowing want to lock up (read take away) a gun because it looks mean (read looks like a military weapon). Of course once they get there way (never going to happen) next will be the non mean looking guns.
The phrase comes to mind – ‘Stupid is as stupid does!’
I also wonder why they (liberals) never want to talk about mental health. Seems that most, if not all, the nut jobs doing the shooting are left leaning, which would indicate that they have a mental health issue in their ranks. Funny how that works!

Alan

Who is it, one wonders, that feeds this congressman his lines?

Keith

Like Rep Kelly in the Shitcago area, he is more than likely owned outright by Bloomturd. He gets his marching orders and checks in the mail every month. Anti-gun rights advocate of any stripe=arrogant, corrupt and ignorant meglomanic Adolph Hitler wanna-be’s.

DAN III

Oldvet,

There is a 69 year old, Vietnam draft-dodging, chickenhawk, free-trading Republican rep from Butler, Pennsylvania. “Mike” Kelly, R-3PA is the other Kelly weasel.

2WarAbnVet

It did not bother the Founders, at all, that in their time the citizens were better armed than the government. It was true, particularly in the South and on the frontier, that citizens were carrying rifles that were deadly at 250-300 yards. The government equipped soldiers with smoothbore muskets effective at only 50-75 yards. The reason this did not disturb the Founders is that they created a government answerable to the citizens. Politicians have been trying to pervert that government ever since. “When you disarm the people, you commence to offend them and show that you distrust them either through… Read more »

tomcat

It has been said many times to this subject. This congressman is a pure idiot without any ability to think, he just regurgitates what he was told to say. Being from the greatest killing field in the country he can’t see the forest for the trees. HOW DO THESE PEOPLE GET ELECTED? Maybe the illegals and the dead can answer that

Clark Kent

They get elected by VOTERS who bother to VOTE. We get the government we deserve.

Macofjack

@"MCCLOUD!" Kent – Except voter fraud is more ramped than the left wants to admit (because it almost always benefits them). Another reason the founders setup the Electoral College!

Colonialgirl

ESpecially in Chicago where Mayor Daley WAITED until he know HOW MANY VOTES JFK needed to “win” Illinois and then they MAGICALLY appeared from ballot boxes found in the trunks of autos; None of course for Nixon. Kinda like the way FRANKEN got elected to the Senate in Minnesota the first time. Did you know that a graveyard helped elect LBJ to the House the first time?
New Jersey and Brooklyn, NY both use to be famous for voting machines that voted “DEMOCRAT” No matter what lever you pulled. I guess that hasn’t changed with the “Computer controlled” voting machines.

DAN III

Smartguy tomcat,

“HOW DO THESE PEOPLE GET ELECTED?”

Simple.

Fools like many of those commenting here, who readily accept the mantra of the mainstream media and their communist friends in Congress and Hollywood, that Paddock was the lone, rich, WHITE guy who did the deed. The same fools here who swallow the unsubstantiated accusations of the aforementioned, are the same fools who keep these elected scum in office for term after term after term.

Alan

Curious re the “military style” business. Would that include bolt action rifles? The Springfield, a bolt action rifle was, for many years, the Service Rifle of The U.S. Military. The congressman might benefit from a history refresher, among other things.

Tionico

and, until perhaps twenty years ago, those same bolt action 1903 Springfield miltary issue rifles populated the closets and attics of more Americans than this clown could imagine…. and, whether “sporterised” or not (a hunting style gunstock fitted) to these rifles, they have collectivelu taken more deer, elk, mountain lion, bear, than most other rifles combined. So, would this clown want all of THOSE locked up, too? He’s got one minor problem with his idea: I own a few firearms, but am not nore have I ever been a member of a gun club. The only ones with which I… Read more »

A Ill Democrat talking about gun crimes, kinda funny I guess he never heard of Chicago.

Two things: Democrat and Illinois jumped out in the article. These immediately call in to question credibility. If this clown thinks that confiscation of legally own firearms is such a good idea then he should relocate to a “gun club” in the UK

Sweet, so he is going to pay for my membership at some awesome gun club? I would leave a rifle there for that benefit… I mean, I have to pay hundreds now annually to join one, plus the 2 year waiting list…
I guess the feds will have to open a lot of them with everyone having to join one. Since it is the law, and there aren’t enough around us (hence the 2 year wait), they will absolutely have to open and run more.

Vanns40

There are an estimated 5 million AR15’s (think that number is pretty close) in private ownership. Add to that tens of thousands of AK’s, FN’s etc and…..well you get the idea. And that doesn’t even take into account all the industrious little beavers who have been completing 80% lowers like mini factories, stockpiling them. I wonder if the good Representative has thought about the consequences of having them in one place and a Willy Sutton type thinking “hmm, why would I rob a gun club? Because that’s where the guns are!”. Might be time to pick up more of those… Read more »

“1. Gun control is not an enumerated power delegated to the federal government

Our federal Constitution doesn’t delegate to the federal government any power over the Country at Large 2 to restrict our arms. Accordingly, all pretended federal laws, regulations, orders, opinions, or treaties which purport to do so are unconstitutional as outside the scope of powers delegated. They are also unconstitutional as in violation of the Second Amendment.”

Clearly Rep. Foster a member of the Communist Democrat Party is terminally IGNORANT, when it comes to the Constitution

Laddyboy

Agreed. I am glad he has demonstrated his true colors so the voting Public knows who needs to be removed from ALL Public Offices.

DAN III

TC,

The reality is the Constitution is dead. Has been since Day 2. As the Left and the weasel Right calls for more limits and outright banning of firearms, you cannot cite 2A and it’s “….shall not be infringed.” as a defense against the powers that be. The only defense from legislative tyranny will be if you are:

1. Willing to KILL the political tyrants and their foot soldiers.
2. Willing to DIE when implementing #1.

Until then, we can only talk and write and post trash.

What say you ?

Roy F. Wilt

This Dumb A** must be smoking dope! I guess that he doesn’t realize that I will keep my guns with me (At least until I rum out of Ammo!)

Perhaps this idiot should focus his mouth on a city within his own state, Chicago, instead of calling for something he has no clue about?

Laddyboy

Oh! I did not know he was from Chicago where a lot of the COMMUNISTS live and the public streets are used as gun ranges all day and night.

Rep. Bill Foster is a idiot!

Answer….people with no intelligence vote them in. Aka the majority of our society.

We are all doomed.

All guns are derived from military weapons. Figures a Dem from Illicitnoise would propose something this incredibly stupid.

“And never forget what gun control is REALLY about. It is not about controlling guns, it is about controlling people. Lawmakers who want to disarm you really want to control you. History is full of governments who first registered guns, then confiscated guns, then rounded up and systematically killed those who the government deemed were trouble makers… 170 million of them!
