‘Bad Guy with a Gun’ Not Stopped by California’s Strict Gun Laws

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- Five people are dead, including the suspect, in a mass shooting at and around a school some 15 miles southwest of Red Bluff, where at least another 10 people have been hospitalized — some of them children,” the Record Searchlight reports Tuesday. “Tehama County Undersheriff Phil Johnston confirmed two children were also shot and wounded, but said children were not among the dead.”

While I was writing this, the suspect was identified by the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office as Kevin Janson Neal, 43. It remains to be seen if social media tracks ever existed for independent investigators to follow, or if they have been covered as often turns out to be the case.

Here’s what citizen disarmament advocates will focus on:

“The shooter had a semi-automatic rifle…”

They’ll also exploit if his politics turn out to have been conservative or “pro-gun.” If not, that will be minimized.

As generally happens when “mass shooting” stories break and news outlets compete furiously for scoops and firsts, information is subject to change, and to different emphasis. Another telling of the story from the same news conglomerate refers to the shooter as “an apparent felon” who was “was involved in a domestic violence incident Monday and had been involved a few months earlier in a stabbing.”

That includes an early report that has since been sanitized. As this Google screenshot shows, and on multiple reports, an eyewitness claimed multiple assailants:

Go to one of the reports in question now, and see for yourself it has been changed:

The reference to “two gunmen” has been removed, even though KRCTV presents it under the heading “Original Article” and includes no editorial note that this substantial piece of information has been altered.  It appears the change has been made without notation on other stories as well.

It’s no wonder blog reports alleging conspiracy and cover-up have already emerged.

This report is being filed shortly after 8 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday. By the time it is posted at midnight, expect new information not included above to be released, possibly showing cites to be obsolete or flat-out wrong. That’s the nature of breaking news.

Also expect the usual attacks on gun owners and NRA having “blood on their hands” from disarmament groups, politicians, celebrities, media and useful idiot followers. You’ll no doubt see plenty of examples of that in the coming days.

Just keep in mind that California has Brady Campaign award-winning gun laws. So-called “assault weapons” with “high” (standard)-capacity magazines have already been restricted. They have background checks, waiting periods, registration…

A domestic violence rap will also result in “prohibited person” status, both at the state and federal levels. And if the guy was a felon, that’s another prohibition.

The bottom line – as much as the antis disparage the alternative, the “gun control” they insist on will never be what stops a bad guy with a gun.

Folks are NEVER going to get a handle on these Events until you wrap your head around the FACT that they are scripted, staged and utterly FAKE (in other words, nobody was killed or injured [unless entirely accidental]). In fact, you are a false witness and guilty of assisting the perpetrators of casting a Death Spell (words cast spells; that’s why it’s called ‘spelling’) should you claim that they are. Anyone who does some basic research into any of these fairy tale “mass shootings,” “bombings” and “car attacks” that have taken place over the last 30 years and still has… Read more »

We need to be careful with our conclusions. A few of these atrocities appear to have been completely staged, some elements of most were staged, and a few were exactly what they appeared to be. Why fake it when actually killing people would be more cost effective? Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the people and groups behind a lot of this aren’t completely comfortable with committing mass murder. Real people have suffered and died. Failure to acknowledge that fact gives credibility to the Lft’s accusations that gun owners are callous, bloodthirsty buffoons.

Roger

This one seems to be more a situation where the nut case is exhibiting behaviors that should be an immediate red light to neighbors, etc., that should have sent them screaming bloody murder to the local LEO’s. Plus this is possibly a guy who should never had a firearm in his possession, but was still legally able to get one even with CA’s background checks and waiting period. While I am a strong 2nd kind of guy I can’t line up behind the “everybody has the right to own a firearm”, but not sure what the solution is other than… Read more »

I’ve made this point in these forums before, but it bears repeating. Humans aren’t just tool users, we’re tool makers. anyone who is intent on committing a violent act will obtain the means to do so, we simply can’t stop that most of the time. Nor was a firearm the only, or even the most efficient, weapon that could have been used for the crimes we are discussing here. Firearms are, however, the only practical choice for personal defense. Criminals are predators, and predators are only deterred by the threat of force. That includes the predators in office. Any politician… Read more »

From Pistol Packin’ DiFi’s latest newsletter: “We’re introducing an updated Assault Weapons Ban for one reason: so that after every mass shooting with a military-style assault weapon, the American people will know that a tool to reduce these massacres is sitting in the Senate, ready for debate and a vote.” The usual grandstanding, or something more sinister? Her turn of phrase does sound a bit like a threat. Lest you think me too paranoid: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northwoods As Dr. Phil is fond of saying, the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior. I noticed a long time ago that these atrocities… Read more »

Thank and blame Assemblyman Kevin McCarty and Governor Jerry Brown for this mass shooting fiasco.

freewill

maybe there should be a law against murder..that might stop a criminal..in the mean time every body should arm them selves and protect their own life instead of blaming an object thats no better or worse than the person holding it..

Bud

AS usual only the bad guy is armed. California had better wake up an realize that the police cannot protect you. They can only show up after your dead. Better armed than dead even if you have to go to court. And think about your beloved governor at the next election. I bet he has an armed security detail. Stay alert, stay armed and practice. Don’t talk about it. Keep it to yourself. Like I said, the police will only show up after your dead. And that’s too late.

The lame stream media always jumps to the first and worst explanation of anything just to get their story out first and it doesn’t matter how inaccurate it is. The first is, most generally, inaccurate and claims things that are not necessarily so. In turn that sprouts conspiracy theories and the whole thing gets blown out of proportion and that leaves the public wondering what the true story is. True story is what journalist are expected to produce for the audience but it rarely happens. Is it any wonder why journalists have an approval rating close to Congress.

Clark Kent

And that approval rating should extend to the author. He likes to jump to conclusions before all of the facts are in.

Wild Bill

@CK, Clark you are just bating the author. Your allegations are hollow. DC is known for thorough research. You are known for … Well, lets just leave it at we all read your writing.

Your not going to see much Hoopla from the gun grabbers on this one.

This manic did his mass murder spree in in California… the Gun Control Nirvana.

All the laws they could wish are now in place here with the exception of banning all semi-automatics firearms.

Thank goodness the school was able to complete it’s lock down in time.

If not, people could have seen how well Governor Brown signing of Gun Free Zones in School really worked.

Green Mtn. Boy

“Your not going to see much Hoopla from the gun grabbers on this one.”

Yup as it hi lights just how ineffectual their beloved gun control laws are as they fail to understand laws are only for the law abiding.

Jim Macklin

Radio news and also on the Dana Show it was reported the killer was a convicted felon. He was out on bail from a recent stabbing. He was described as violent. He was on medication according to his sister. Despite California law and his felony convictions and recent arrest for stabbing and being bailed out he was still in possession of the weapons. Or maybe he bought them all and the ammo after bailing out. So, the sheriff failed to search his home and find the weapons or the California background check failed to stop his purchases of guns and… Read more »
