Denial of Justice in Steinle Case Could Have Unintended Midterm Consequences

Branco Kate Steinle's Murderer Not Guilty
Those demanding policies that enabled the killing of Kathryn Steinle by Jose Ines Garcia Zarate (aka Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez) have placed all the blame on guns. His acquittal could galvanize outraged Americans in the midterm elections.

USA – -( “Advocates for illegal immigrants are unrepentant after yesterday’s shocking acquittal on all homicide charges of an illegal-alien confessed killer,” reporter Heather Mac Donald noted in a December 1 City Journal report. “The advocates are defending the sanctuary policies that had set in motion the 2015 killing in San Francisco; they have also doubled down on their opposition to any deportation of illegal aliens, criminal or otherwise. If ever there were a clarifying moment regarding what is at stake in the battle for the immigration rule of law, this is it.”

As usual, “progressives” place all focus on the gun a five times-deported illegal immigrant (with seven felony convictions!) first stole and then used to kill a woman strolling on the waterfront with her father and friend. 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle would still be alive had a law enforcement officer not left his gun unsecured in a backpack in his car while going to dinner with his family. So naturally, Demanding Mom Shannon Watts sent out a tweet making excuses for illegal immigrants and blaming guns:

This woman never misses an opportunity to blood dance for disarmament. Naturally she makes no mention of how the gun got into the killer's hands or of how many laws were broken…

Instead of being prosecuted for a violation of California law, which leaving his gun unsecured in his car was, BLM ranger John Woychowski was never even disciplined. Instead, El Centro’s 2011 “Ranger of the Year” was promoted five months after Steinle’s killing.

The other law enforcement “contribution” was by Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, who ignored a detainer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and put the killer back on the streets. He’s another textbook “Only One” who, while working to disarm his countrymen, has taken hypocritical advantage of his own elite status to keep his guns. That’s despite a domestic violence charge (plea-bargained to false imprisonment), a documented history of his “well known temper,” and reports that he failed to qualify to carry a gun under California law (after which the range officer was conveniently demoted and transferred).

But it’s your and my guns that are the problem. That’s despite California’s draconian restrictions on the ability of ordinary people to keep and bear them. And despite the same people who want to disarm us digging in on “sanctuary” status in violation of federal law.

This has got to have a backlash and that may well manifest itself in the 2018 elections. Flyover Americans—the same people who turned out to dumbfound the establishment by electing Donald Trump (not because of the man but because of his platform) see travesties like this and it fosters bitter resentment. We see disasters caused time and again by “progressive” policies, and contempt, ridicule and blame heaped on our “deplorable” values, and some of us don’t forget.

And we see the problem repeat itself in other “progressive” strongholds, like a recent story from Portland, OR, where an illegal alien, deported 20 times, was convicted of kidnapping and sexually abusing two women.  We see him laughing at his sentencing hearing and telling the families he’ll “see [them] in hell.”

We see Portland declaring itself a “sanctuary city,” with useful idiots demanding that President Trump admit unrestricted “refugees.” We see Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler amp up the defiance of immigration laws:

“We will not be complicit in the deportation of our neighbors. Under my leadership as Mayor, the City of Portland will remain a welcoming, safe place for all people regardless of immigration status.”

Naturally, Wheeler is all for infringements on the right of the people to keep and bear arms. And no surprise, he has as much disdain for the First Amendment as he does for the Second.

We’re not going to be able to do anything about states and urban locales that are overwhelmingly “blue.”  But if enough “red state” Americans turn their outrage at injustices like these into motivation to act, perhaps we can once again shock the hell out of all the establishment media pundits, who are wishfully envisioning  midterm turnarounds in the House and in the Senate.

All the Republicans will have to do is deserve our support.

    1. Dave, I agree with everything in your article except placing any blame on the BLM agent. His car was locked and his pistol was out of site. From what I can get from the media, is that he was in compliance with state law. But you are spot on regarding this illegal immigrant and the illegal sheriff.

    2. Excellent column. The main issues that can drive regular americans to the polls are gun rights, immigration, and the racial hatred of whites by the Dems/media/neocons expressed openly on a daily basis. The GOP should force as many votes on immigration and guns as possible. Gun banners, feminists, media figures, and the entire dem party are types always going on and on about War On Women and other made up nonsense. Yet why are the colbert and john stewart and feminist types all silent about this murder? The few who even acknowledge it want to blame the gun – despite that it belonged to a federal cop, was stolen due to the fed’s incompetence, and the local sheriff refused to detain a five times deported illegal after fed govt request bc san francisco is a Bolshevik Sanctuary City. Talk about brown/immigrant privilege!

This issue should be used over and over to demonstrate all these cultural marxists hate flyover country whites and hate western civilization – all of the rest is just cover. Build Kate’s Wall! Mass deportations for Kate! End sanctuary cities! If we do not then the second amendment will eventually be as dead as kate steinle.

    3. Dave –
Nice rant and all but for the billionth time, the Republicans aren’t the solution. They do not now and never will actually EARN (from us) the respect they blithely heap upon one another in these ridiculous skits and amateur productions called “Congress”. What they should call it is “Incest”, since the Republians and Democrats at that level are exactly the same except the sponorship stickers.
If you or I or anyone else ever actually wants to FIX this and the hundreds of other serious problems facing our waning republic, we need to quit begging either of the two wings of the Money Party to come rescue us from the self same disasters they create and profit from. If we reasonable, intelligent, literate, and above all else lawful people can’t get it together and form a real opposition party to reflect actual American values, we’re f’d. As far as I can tell at the moment, there is no viable alternative to red Money Party hacks or Blue Money Party hacks.
But, for the love of all that’s good and holy (and not already owned by the assorted hacks), get this notion that either of them will ever have answers instead of problems, solutions instead of more screwups, or a shread of integrity when it’s so much more fun to just be a spineless, traitorous, lying, thieving, corrupt piece of do-as-I-say-but-not-as-I-do shit. That’s all they are and all they ever wanted to be. The politicians – not a single one of them – represent us anymore.

      1. @Mike S, I can not disagree with you. Parties have subverted our government from the first day. But there is one viable alternative. Flood the primary election votes against the party’s hand picked candidate. Vote for the not corrupted yet candidate. Someday when we have enough non favored by the party Congress persons, we will ban parties, lobbyists, and institute new strict controls on our governmental employees.
