Make “Hiking” in Kansas A New Year’s Resolution

PRATT, Kan. -(Ammoland.com)- “Exercise more” is a common New Year’s resolution, and you can live up to that pledge and enjoy a brisk day in a beautiful outdoor setting with a First Day Hike at a Kansas state park. Eighteen “First Day Hikes” will be hosted around the state on Jan. 1, 2018.

Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism staff are excited and ready to make your start to the New Year a fun and healthy one!

Guided First Day Hike events will take you on a scenic route through wild landscapes, and select hikes may include educational programs and refreshments. Bring the kids for family fun.

Hikers should wear warm clothing and good trail footwear and bring water, a camera and binoculars. A winter hike is a perfect opportunity to view wildlife. Bring your pets, but keep them on a leash.

Visit their website for more information on events planned in Kansas.

When the hike is over, share your photos by using the hashtags #FirstDayHikes and #MyKSStatePark.

I might resolve to go hiking in Kansas, in May or June, but I will most assuredly not be hiking in Kansas on 1 January or any other day in January! Bring on that global warming, that the pie eyed crowd is always blabbing on about.

@OV, Ouch! We won’t be that bad, but all critters will get extra rations, and extra bedding. The old dogs come in the house. The old horses get a stall in the barn. Two dog food bowls of food and a bale of hay at the end of the drive way for anything stray or feral. Vehicles plugged in. Facets on drip. Good to go! Hope you, your family and everyone that reads here, have a safe, health, New Years Eve.

@OV, double ouch. It got down to “feels like 11 degrees”. Every critter and water pipe in good shape. Four more days of cold.
I’m spending my Hollywood money on gun fun this year. Maybe those liberal Hollywood stars can get a job waiting tables or bagging groceries to make up their shortfall.
Regards to Sammy
