Delray Beach, Fla. –-(Ammoland.com)- Century Arms, North America’s premier AK manufacturer, has announced the release of a new 9mm AK-based pistol, the Draco NAK9. The AK-based 9mm handgun is the newest addition to the highly popular Draco pistol series.

“The Draco NAK9 fills a void in the U.S. market for a high quality Com-Bloc 9mm AK pistol,” said Jason Karvois, Century Arms Director of Sales. “Because it readily accepts Glock brand 9mm and aftermarket Glock magazines, many consumers can utilize the magazines they already own in their new 9mm AK pistol.”

The Draco NAK9 pistol is chambered in the cost-effective, low-recoil 9mm cartridge while capturing the look and feel of the AK-47 platform. The magazine well allows for compatibility with Glock 17 and Glock 19 magazines making it the perfect companion for your EDC 9mm handgun. The NAK9 comes equipped with a top-mounted Picatinny optics rail for mounting modern optics, a rear sling mount, one 33-round magazine and is compatible with aftermarket AKM handguards. The blowback operated design results in a platform as reliable as an AK, but in a smaller package with minimal recoil.

Its lightweight and 11.14” barrel make the Draco NAK9 an excellent choice for your next truck gun, CQC or a fun day at the range. The Draco NAK9 is shipping this week to dealers with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $724.99.

while I say if it makes you happy buy it I would be all over a full carbine version in this and other glock pistol cals.

I own numerous AK type rifles and a couple of AK Pistols – they have been imported by the thousands – perhaps tens of thousands yearly for nigh on a decade or more. The 9mm version noted above is selling like hot cakes at an I-Hop Eatery. I want one my self. I am a former professional soldier, and enjoy a well made firearm. Practical application? Well as a SHTF compliment carbine to one’s Glock or other 9mm pistol – carry in car or SUV – a compact totally reliable carbine type pistol that can be out fitted with a… Read more »

Before laughing yourself into discomfort, consider the perhaps significant downside or downsides, that is giving the wonders at BATFE something else to mess with, or do I take an overly dim view?

At 59 and a life long hunter, shooter and former military would someone please explain the practical application of such a firearm as this. Apparently, I just don’t get it.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION other than one likely to cause problems for gun owners via those wonderful folks at BATFE, I seriously doubt that there is one, though I will admit that my eyes are not as sharp as they once were.

@mb and Alan, Fun! The joy of shooting.

Hope that the dim view of this firearm and the potential for bureaucratic mischief I believe it presents turn out to be dead wrong. Also, I wonder as to how many of these firearms will be purchased by gun owners, precious few I suspect, though I could be wrong there also. I guess that we shall see though.

If it’s reliable with 147 grain JHP subsonic ammo, this thing just cries out for an integral suppressor and something like a SIG brace . . .

Boy! This one will have the anti gunner positively frothing at the mouth!! ROTFLMAO!

Cool! Long overdue.
