I’m getting close to retirement, and want to travel and see this great nation however I do not want to run afoul of the laws of any state. I am personally responsible the the safety and security of myself and my family and take that duty very seriously ! I will not allow myself nor my family to become victims or another statistic. pajon, if you own a residence in ny state you can get a permit ,you need a po address, a ny state id card same place you get driver permit, own a residence (not be a resident) get the forms take the course have 4 people vouch for you in the county you are applying . have a water bill, tax bill or an electric bill something to show an address of the residence. they may take finger prints and do a national agency check. after you submit the forms(keep a copy of everything) they will send you a letter… Read more »

National reciprocity will benefit personal defense and family protection – for everyone. When a criminal is sizing-up his next victim, he won’t be too sure if he’ll get shot for is trouble, and therefore, more likely not to rob someone. As it stands now in places like NYC and California, a criminal is almost certain that his next victim is not armed and does not pose a threat.

I’m retired and spend most of the Summer at our camp in Northern New York. As a non-resident, I can’t find any way to legally come into the state with a handgun…..or carry a baton…..or carry OC spray purchased out of NY state….or possess a taser. I carry a 3” CRKT knife because the NY laws are so restrictive and confusing that I’m not sure my regular 4” assisted opening knife is permitted. Heaven forbid but if the Demo Craptic’s ever become a majority in the Senate during President Trump you can say”Good Bye” to any hope of Reciprocity.
Pressure, pressure, unrelenting pressure on your Senator’s until they either push for passage of this legislation or become honest enough to say why they won’t. If they don’t vote them out!

Reciprocity will NEVER pass. The House bill was just to placate the gun owners for their votes. Closer to election time, the Senate will pass one that the House will table, again only for our votes. This is a game to the majority of our lawmakers. They fear us, and will only pass bills that further their power over us “regular” Citizens, and protect themselves from us and the “Free States”. Despite my comments to Walter Kelly I have to admit that I’m rather surprised to see this article. Why, you might ask? Because, while Paul Ryan did pass this out of the House, Mitch McConnell is sitting on this Bill in the Senate and, if everyone were being totally honest, he has absolutely no interest in seeing it move forward. It is time the rest of the United States tells the east and west coast that their screwed up ideas will not work and we demand the right to protect ourselves where ever we may travel.
Contact your senators and representatives at the federal level and ask them to vote for national carry via the reciprocity act.

For all you constitutional lawyers stating the 2nd, 14th, etc. do you not understand that there are states, judges that have their own idea what they mean. It’s not the ideas we as firearm people agree with. You all know the states and cities and judicial districts that go contrary to the real meaning of the constitution and have and are getting away with it. With a majority of the state’s enacting “Constitutional Carry” instead of reciprocity, it makes absolutely no sense in enacting a federal law which doesn’t allow Citizens of neighboring states to carry concealed if their home state doesn’t require any training whatsoever. Further there are Citizens whom have training far beyond what a State sponsored class can teach in an 8 hour session. Walter Your comments fall deaf on a state such as parts of California! We have 58 counties of which 45 do issue; but, the 13 that don’t will NEVER will listen to the Constitution unless the Federal Government tells them to do so!

The founders created a wonderful document in the Constitution however failed to extract a penalty for violation of the Constitution,as they probably couldn’t envision “We The People” “failing to keep the Republic”,not to mention “guarding our Liberty jealously”,which we have done a poor job of.

A majority? only 14 states have “constitutional carry” 1 is being disputed, 2 others are for residents only. so not sure how you do math but 11 out 50 states does not seem to me to be a majority (22% to be exact) I hope they use your math in the Senate to pass the CCRA!

You may well never have to or want to travel to or from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont etc but lots of other people do and there’s no safe way to go armed at this time, you MUST pass through anti-gun, malevolent States.
