Athens, GA –-(Ammoland.com)- In a strange turn of events, Delta Airlines’ ill-advised decision to sever ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA) has jeopardized the fate of a special interest tax break that was expected to sail through the Senate and save the airline millions of dollars.

Yesterday, conservative businessman and Secretary of State Brian Kemp – who condemned Delta for targeting 2nd Amendment supporters and unequivocally opposed the jet fuel tax exemption – urged state lawmakers to withdraw the controversial tax break and instead pass a sales tax holiday for guns and ammunition.

“Thanks to the efforts of grassroots conservatives throughout our state, the same Senate leaders that took thousands of dollars from Delta Airlines stalled legislation that would have cost taxpayers millions of dollars,” said Kemp.

“Now, it’s time for the Georgia Senate to kill the tax break for Delta and replace it with a sales tax holiday that benefits the same 2nd Amendment supporters that Delta – and other corporate cowards – are publicly shaming.

“Instead of giving millions of our hard earned tax dollars to billion-dollar businesses that want to disarm law-abiding citizens, we should give a tax break to hardworking Georgians who want to protect their families and loved ones from criminal aliens, terrorists, and gang members.

“I propose a sales tax holiday that corresponds with the Fourth of July and includes the purchase of firearms, ammunition, holsters, and safes. If state lawmakers are unwilling to put hardworking Georgians first this session, I’ll do it in 2019 as the Peach State’s next governor.”

With all the posturing and screaming about gun control from our “elected” representatives in the past week I was beginning to feel like a red headed step child. There needs to be a lot of changed faces that grace our halls after the next election. At this point, and I say this with tongue in cheek, even a moderate demoncrat would be better than the RINO’s that are showing their true colors, including the Pres. that sold us a bill… Read more »

GA. A State with leaders who have “NADS”!

Mike S.

I’d drive the 100 or so miles up there just to buy one little box of .22LR so I could say I participated in that. If gun safes are on the list as well… looks like daddy might be getting a new toy box too!
