@Goff – I think you are the one missing the point! We do NOT have a tyrannical government! There are parts that need work, but I have not heard of anyone disappearing off the streets, homes broken into and burned or any of that! Your leftest big government giving to the rich seem to fall apart with the tax cut just enacted! And don’t start with it helps big business not the little man. Answer a question – Are you so rich you don’t have a job? If you have a job do you pay your own salary? If not… Read more »

DAVE BROWN PUT IT IN THE NUT SHELL,GOOD KIDS CAN COME FROM BAD PARENTS AND BAD KIDS CAN COME FROM BAD PARENTS …. I for one came from no parents and I did pretty well but that is just me . I read all the news and I follow current events and just wonder were we are going to go in the future with the next generation . In today’s society parents both have to work [ understandable] but parents do not connect with their kids anymore and they don’t know they are doing with their lives .[that is our… Read more »

With all due respect to belief in a higher power, do believers not question the existence of such while the parents, family members and millions of others mourn the loss of seventeen innocent children in the schoolhouse shooting in Florida as well as all of the other intentional killings across the planet? Obviously, once we are born, we eventually have to die; it’s the way of evolutionary life. But the decision of when to die should be made by our own bodies, or by the courts when mandated as punishment for certain crimes, not by any other outsider. The keenest… Read more »

What happens when matter comes in contact with anti-matter? They annihilate each other. In the case of our universe, the reason we can even carry on this conversation is because there was a smidgen more matter than anti-matter at T=0, when the Big Bang began. Matter and anti-matter were created in the very beginning and without them there would be no physical universe. OK, now think about Matter as being Good and anti-Matter as being Evil. Like Matter/Anti-Matter, Good and Evil came into existence with the Creation of a Physical Universe. IS there a Universe comprised only of Energy? If… Read more »

No Gun Is Evil, you win a prize. Good Kids can come from bad parents, bad kids can come from good ones. We all have Mental Health, thus we all can have M H Issues, sorry it is a fact Jack. I Honor The 2n, yet I realize they were looking at Muskets when they wrote, sorry it is a fact. They were also looking at protecting Us from our government, and even ourselves, plus guns were a very useful and used tool then. Today, waiting until your 21 is not a big thing. I did not have the option… Read more »

@Dave Brown – Careful there, the 1st was written when there was no internet or social media! So do we ban them because they were not around when the Constitution was written? Waiting until you are 21 may not be that big a deal if that is where they stop, but IT WILL NOT BE where they stop. If we are going to put gun ownership off until 21 how about driving and owning a smart phone? More kids are killed by texting and driving, so lets put that off to 21! You deal with the kids on that one,… Read more »

Brown, The founders did not only contemplate muskets. That theory was repudiated more than seventy years ago. You need to read the US v Miller.

Yeah they saw into the future. Saw the weapons of mass destruction and how many massshootings we would have and said, hey let’s make that as easy as possible to occur…

2A doesn’t in the slightest stop the tyranny of government. Why do people keep claiming this. It’s silly and the justification of fools.

Apathy is the real enemy…Its meaning….is not caring enough to get involved in issues, [ some body else will take care of it so I don;t have too] of government that my friend is a cause of problems with the Government and until we care enough to control our government tyranny can and will happen. That is why the 2nd amendment is the 2nd amendment…..what more can I say? Its every bodies duty to get involved in our Government at the lowest to the highest level of Government . And not let the Government tell us how to Govern our… Read more »

Goff, the founding fathers saw technology change before their very eyes. They experienced the advancement of rifling, ignition systems, faster loading, more accuracy, bigger cannons, a submarine, and even multiple shot firearms. They very well knew that there would be better weapons in the future. The founding fathers just got done rebelling against tyrannical government, and fully intended that future generations of Americans would be able to access the same weapons against tyrannical government that the tyrannical government would use on future generations of Americans. Goff your understanding of the context of our American Constitution and Bill of Rights is… Read more »

Wil bill, Maofjac I think you are missing the point here. We have tyrannical government. but as long as we get to keep our guns we dont seem to care. 2A doenst stop tyranical government. Quit arguing it does. Some of the most heavily armed societies in the world have far worse tyranny than we do. That aside, as long as you get to keep your guns the government is happy to make the common man pay for the mistakes of big business and banks and give tax cuts to the rich, remove healthcare for the poor – that’s tyranny… Read more »

Goff, The 2A was put there to prevent tyranny not necessarily to fight it. This is something that conservatives don’t get. The @a along with other parts of the CONstitution make clear that the govt is to have no or minimal standing forces. “What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty …. Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.” — Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts,… Read more »

After the bombing in Boston we didn’t hear a big push to ban pressure cookers, the shooting in Texas at the church isn’t getting much air time either because a good guy with an AR15 stopped a murderer with an AR15.
The news media has their agenda to get guns banned starting with the AR15, we must not let that happen or before you know it they will push for all guns be banned.

Truly, mental illness and the use of psychoactive drugs that cause homicidal tendencies in teenagers, are the root cause of these scenarios. But I actually think that there is a conspiracy between the liberal news organizations to not even bring it up. They may touch on it with a passing sentence, but they quickly move on to demonize inanimate objects, meaning guns. Yet when someone gets run over, they do not demonize cars.

I guess their argument is that even if you address all these root cause issues, there will still be problems and we kind of make it waaay too easy for anyone to buy a firearm so perfect for mass shootings. Attacking the problem from all fronts might slow up the slaughter. So make it less easy to get an AR-15, have armed guards at schools, address mental illness, bullying, isolation and domestic violence. Do what we can to stem this unparalleled tide of gun violence in our schools.
