    1. @Goff – I think you are the one missing the point! We do NOT have a tyrannical government! There are parts that need work, but I have not heard of anyone disappearing off the streets, homes broken into and burned or any of that! Your leftest big government giving to the rich seem to fall apart with the tax cut just enacted! And don’t start with it helps big business not the little man. Answer a question – Are you so rich you don’t have a job? If you have a job do you pay your own salary? If not then that rich man/big business pays you and you use the money for what you want. That is not tyrannical it is a commerce based system. Don’t like it, try Russia. You speak like a little child that has no idea what is going on but sees the kid across the street with a new bike and you are pissed. Grow up, get a job and get over it.

    2. DAVE BROWN PUT IT IN THE NUT SHELL,GOOD KIDS CAN COME FROM BAD PARENTS AND BAD KIDS CAN COME FROM BAD PARENTS …. I for one came from no parents and I did pretty well but that is just me . I read all the news and I follow current events and just wonder were we are going to go in the future with the next generation . In today’s society parents both have to work [ understandable] but parents do not connect with their kids anymore and they don’t know they are doing with their lives .[that is our own fault] If you don’t get involved with young lives they have no guidenece, and the do bad things and every body puts blame some were else. I don’t have kids but I see whats happening in our country and it makes me sick. Disfunction, breeds disfunction , Ignorence can be cured but stupidity is forever. Bravo Dave brown you said it right sir….The first amendment is great be can be abused like anything it happens all the time as well as your right to privacy witch has been eroded because of the internet.[ thanks] think about it you can learn anything about anybody…..Our country is not what it once was …..we are torn apart because no body can agree on any issues… look at congress they cannot agree on anything [to many issues to deal with what a shame] and these are our leaders …..God help us all…..

      1. With all due respect to belief in a higher power, do believers not question the existence of such while the parents, family members and millions of others mourn the loss of seventeen innocent children in the schoolhouse shooting in Florida as well as all of the other intentional killings across the planet?

Obviously, once we are born, we eventually have to die; it’s the way of evolutionary life. But the decision of when to die should be made by our own bodies, or by the courts when mandated as punishment for certain crimes, not by any other outsider. The keenest instinct of animal existence, including humans, is that of self protection, preservation and survival. Barring restrictions for certain individual undesirable traits, we should all be allowed to BE PREPARED.

        1. What happens when matter comes in contact with anti-matter?
          They annihilate each other.
In the case of our universe, the reason we can even carry on this conversation is because there was a smidgen more matter than anti-matter at T=0, when the Big Bang began. Matter and anti-matter were created in the very beginning and without them there would be no physical universe.

OK, now think about Matter as being Good and anti-Matter as being Evil. Like Matter/Anti-Matter, Good and Evil came into existence with the Creation of a Physical Universe. IS there a Universe comprised only of Energy? If not, then why not?

Matter and Energy are two sides of the same coin as conceptualized by E=Mc^2

The Physical and Spiritual Worlds are also two sides of the same coin as conceptualized by Heaven and Earth or Body and Soul, Humans are both physical beings and spiritual beings. A belief in a higher power is what separates us from chimpanzees or even the original Homo Sapiens

People often ask “Why bad things happen to good people?” Answer: we live in a world in which randomness is an indelible part. But, it’s more than that. Randomness is a consequence of the Free Will we have. Each of us express it in how we deal with Good and Evil. WE were born with Free Will and the ability to choose between Good and Evil. It’s another way of saying that babies are born sinless. I do not believe that infants are born into sin. That would be fatalistic as in seeing the world as being deterministic: which is the opposite of a world in which Free Will and randomness exists.

God gave us Free Will so that we would consciously make the choice between Good and Evil.
God gave us Free Will so that we would consciously choose to worship God and to have a relationship with God. We were not created to be puppets with God pulling the strings. Who would want to be loved by someone who felt compelled to love you?

The same is true of God who wanted men and women to love Him unconditionally as He unconditionally loves men and women. This is also how we should love our children – unconditionally. The worst thing we could do to a child is to make our love and attention conditional. Some kids grow up in households where their parents withhold love as punishment or ignore a child who thinks he or she is not doing enough to please their parents. We are not born with self-esteem. We get it first from our parents, then from other adults, then our friends until we internalize it to where we don’t need to depend on anyone to know who we are.

You will find that teens who are angry all of the time never learned how to express love or were never given an opportunity to experience it from their parents and thereby learn how to give love. For many parents, they spend more time pointing out what their child did wrong and little if any time on what their child did right.

As for choosing the when and how we die, i’m afraid that, in a random world in which stuff happens, There are some things that are beyond our control and it serves no purpose to worry about them. We should be concentrating on things that we have the power to change, We can learn to avoid risks instead of needlessly subjecting ourselves to it. Such as eating healthy, drinking in moderation, Don’t smoke, Don’t do recreational drugs. And be aware of your surroundings at all times. It’s called “situational awareness” and that’s the key to staying safe. Expect the unexpected. Be prepared and always look for a way out.

People do not arm themselves with the desire to shoot another person. In fact, it'[s the very last thing they would ever want to happen. The first important lesson of carrying a firearm is to learn how to avoid confrontations. There is no disgrace in running away from a fight. The Left has this totally distorted mental picture of people who carry firearms responsibly: they think we are all trigger happy psychopaths. I find it personally insulting as do others who carry because the statistics do not lie about how unusually rare it has been for any member of the armed public to have used their weapon to do deliberate harm.

The vast majority of defensive gun uses involve merely showing or informing a would-be attacker or burglar that you have a gun to send that perp running in the opposite direction. This is also why it never gets reported for many reasons, least of which is the puzzled look on a policeman’s face when you try to explain it to him.

Getting back on track, we have a duty to protect Life beginning with our own Self-preservation is not selfish. We also have a duty to protect the lives of our loved ones. Do we really want to job-shop that out to other people who cannot be there with you 24 hours a day. It’s time to wake up and smell the reality. We live in a dangerous world. The biggest risks we face are the ones for which we have not planned for- such as the total breakdown of society. This is not a paranoid prepper nightmare if you consider how easy it would be for a terrorist or a foreign power to shut down our electrical grid.

If there is one reason to own an AR-15, it is this one. We got to see, first-hand, how such an event would transpire with what happened in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.Gangs roamed the streets taking anything that wasn’t nailed down and not even thinking twice before beating an old lady to death for her purse.

WE hope to God that we are never put in the position where we have no choice but to use deadly force. Yet, the consequences of not being prepared are too horrible to imagine. That’s why you have the choice to feel safe or feel sorry.

I don’t know about you but I’d rather feel safe.

    3. No Gun Is Evil, you win a prize. Good Kids can come from bad parents, bad kids can come from good ones. We all have Mental Health, thus we all can have M H Issues, sorry it is a fact Jack. I Honor The 2n, yet I realize they were looking at Muskets when they wrote, sorry it is a fact. They were also looking at protecting Us from our government, and even ourselves, plus guns were a very useful and used tool then. Today, waiting until your 21 is not a big thing. I did not have the option when they gave me my Draft #252 back in 69.

      1. @Dave Brown – Careful there, the 1st was written when there was no internet or social media! So do we ban them because they were not around when the Constitution was written?
Waiting until you are 21 may not be that big a deal if that is where they stop, but IT WILL NOT BE where they stop. If we are going to put gun ownership off until 21 how about driving and owning a smart phone? More kids are killed by texting and driving, so lets put that off to 21! You deal with the kids on that one, but you better keep your 2nd around because some kid with steal a gun and try to make you pay for taking his car!
        CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!

      2. @Dave Brown, The founders did not only contemplate muskets. That theory was repudiated more than seventy years ago. You need to read the US v Miller.

        1. @Dave brown do you realize that you keep repeating yourself every time you post regardless what the article is? You are like ground hog day.

          1. Yeah they saw into the future. Saw the weapons of mass destruction and how many massshootings we would have and said, hey let’s make that as easy as possible to occur…

2A doesn’t in the slightest stop the tyranny of government. Why do people keep claiming this. It’s silly and the justification of fools.

            1. @Goff – Tell that to the Jews and the American Indian! You just proved again ‘Keep your mouth shut and the world may think you a fool, open it and remove all doubt!

            2. Apathy is the real enemy…Its meaning….is not caring enough to get involved in issues, [ some body else will take care of it so I don;t have too] of government that my friend is a cause of problems with the Government and until we care enough to control our government tyranny can and will happen. That is why the 2nd amendment is the 2nd amendment…..what more can I say? Its every bodies duty to get involved in our Government at the lowest to the highest level of Government . And not let the Government tell us how to Govern our lives. Don’t be a fool……..

            3. Goff, the founding fathers saw technology change before their very eyes. They experienced the advancement of rifling, ignition systems, faster loading, more accuracy, bigger cannons, a submarine, and even multiple shot firearms. They very well knew that there would be better weapons in the future. The founding fathers just got done rebelling against tyrannical government, and fully intended that future generations of Americans would be able to access the same weapons against tyrannical government that the tyrannical government would use on future generations of Americans. Goff your understanding of the context of our American Constitution and Bill of Rights is superficial and insufficient.

            4. Wil bill, Maofjac

I think you are missing the point here.

We have tyrannical government. but as long as we get to keep our guns we dont seem to care.

2A doenst stop tyranical government. Quit arguing it does. Some of the most heavily armed societies in the world have far worse tyranny than we do.

That aside, as long as you get to keep your guns the government is happy to make the common man pay for the mistakes of big business and banks and give tax cuts to the rich, remove healthcare for the poor – that’s tyranny by more effective means.

            5. Wil bill, Macofjac

Wild Bill again your so caught up in claiming 2A as the basis of our society that you fail to see what our society actually looks like. You’re confused. I get you want to appear a patriot, but patriotism requires a bit more than blind allegiance. Turn off your TV and computer screen, or at least change the channel once in a while, and look at the world around you.

You dont seem to know what’s going on!

            6. Goff, The 2A was put there to prevent tyranny not necessarily to fight it. This is something that conservatives don’t get. The @a along with other parts of the CONstitution make clear that the govt is to have no or minimal standing forces.

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty …. Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.”

              — Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts,
Floor debate over the Second Amendment [1789]

Today, the “standing army” that we have to worry about domestically is the huge law enforcement establishment. I’m talking about not only state and local police but also agencies like the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and ad nauseum. Rather than deploy troops on the streets they use law enforcement to control us. While these agencies exist our liberty will always be in danger.

    4. After the bombing in Boston we didn’t hear a big push to ban pressure cookers, the shooting in Texas at the church isn’t getting much air time either because a good guy with an AR15 stopped a murderer with an AR15.
The news media has their agenda to get guns banned starting with the AR15, we must not let that happen or before you know it they will push for all guns be banned.

    5. Truly, mental illness and the use of psychoactive drugs that cause homicidal tendencies in teenagers, are the root cause of these scenarios. But I actually think that there is a conspiracy between the liberal news organizations to not even bring it up. They may touch on it with a passing sentence, but they quickly move on to demonize inanimate objects, meaning guns. Yet when someone gets run over, they do not demonize cars.

      1. I guess their argument is that even if you address all these root cause issues, there will still be problems and we kind of make it waaay too easy for anyone to buy a firearm so perfect for mass shootings. Attacking the problem from all fronts might slow up the slaughter. So make it less easy to get an AR-15, have armed guards at schools, address mental illness, bullying, isolation and domestic violence. Do what we can to stem this unparalleled tide of gun violence in our schools.
