Mossberg Terminates Relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods

Goodbye, Dick's. And good riddance.
Mossberg Terminates Relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods

NORTH HAVEN, CT –-( O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, announced today its decision to discontinue selling products to Dick’s Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018.

Effective immediately, O.F. Mossberg & Sons will not accept any future orders from Dick’s Sporting Goods or Field & Stream, and is in the process of evaluating current contractual agreements.

“It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control.” said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons.

“Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions.”

Consumers are urged to visit one of the thousands of pro-Second Amendment firearm retailers to make their purchases of Mossberg and Maverick firearms. Firearm retailers can be found through the Mossberg Dealer Locator by visiting

    1. I am looking forward to shopping at Dick’s Sporting Goods again really soon, at their GOING OUT OF BUSINESS Sale 🙂

I am questioning Mossberg’s longevity. I have a 500 pump that I bought in 1986 and put a slug barrel on it in 2000. I have thousands of trouble free rounds through it.. My longevity question is “I wonder how long it will last?” Since I don’t have the answer to that question yet I decided to start all over again and purchased a 930 JM Pro about two years ago. I only have 500 rounds through it so far. Try as I might… light birdshot to heavy Magnum loads, still not a single malfunction. I will wear that 500 out one of these days but until then for a slug gun or 3 Gun shotgun, Mossberg is my “Go To”.

      1. If you have a Mossberg 500, you’d better learn to like that model because you have a lifetime supply right there in your hands. They present another problem as well … whenever I’m fondling a new vunder-shotgun, my wife sidles past and asks “What will that one do that your old Mossberg won’t?” For that question, I have no answer.

        1. You need too tell her you need just one more when she asks.
1 more for slugs 1 more for Trap 1 more for Skeet 1 more for Sporting clays ETC. Just buy them in different camo patterns and different Gauges. She won’t know the difference. At least mine doesn’t.

Then you will need different Choke tubes for each sport. It just goes on and on if you want it too.

    2. Let’s do this at the voting booth also. Vote all the Gun Grabbing Traitors (GGT’s) out of office. Maybe we can start recalling them right now. And how about TREASON charges for these GGT’s who knowingly and willfully broke their oath ?

    3. Thanks for the news. I will boycott them too. I never did business with Field and Stream or Dicks Sporting Goods. But, I will not do business with them ever.

    4. Pleased to hear that gun makers are telling Dick’s and Field & Stream to go stick it where the sun don’t shine. Plus the NSSF booted them out of the trade association! Good Riddance!

Owner of a Mossberg 500 and a 590A1. Reliable, durable boomsticks, never had a reason to second guess my purchase of a Mossberg!

    5. I for one and I know many others are so glad. It’s well past time that someone meaning firearms manufacturers as well as ammunition manufacturers do this. I praise them highly. Now if only other manufacturers would follow suit. We need to show these people that our rights are not to be trampled, nor are they for sale. This posturing and signing have to be stopped at all costs. I need to go to Mossbergs site and thank them for what they have done. It makes me even happier to own a 500. Now if all would follow. I might be dreaming but I would be willing to bet we could rock this nation. All we have done is give give give and apparently it’s never enough for these people. So in these days of me me me it’s our turn to take. We (us pro 2A people) simply want our God given rights without someone molesting them and convoluting things with lies such as “we don’t want your guns.” Which we all know is the biggest facade and lie out there. The more we can get rid of virtue signaling and the posturing, which would put all these companies exactly where they need to be, in bankruptcy court. Sorry for the babbling I’m just so happy someone is finally taking a stand.

    6. You paying attention other gun manufactures? When I go to choose my next gun it will be from the list that has stopped selling to DICKS and Field and Stream.

    7. Other companies have been using the Dick’s “institute your own laws” policy against CA for sometime now. Cheaper than Dirt won’t ship 6 position buffer tubes to CA (not illegal if building a featureless rifle), Spike’s won’t even ship a stripped lower to CA, lots of other sellers won’t ship to CA because they are upset about our gun laws. What is the difference between what Dick’s is doing and these sellers?

      1. @MD…By the same token I have purchased products from 80% arms located in CA , but I will no longer untill they move out of said $#it hole !

        1. I made the same decision considering what happened to Ares Armor (ATF raided and seized customer list).

    8. If you have a Dunham’s sports location nearby also, they are very much a pro second amendment sporting goods store and a good place to support. When so many stores took ar-15s off their shelf recently, Dunham’s put all theirs in stock out on their shelves.

    9. I have a Mossberg 930 semiauto shotgun. It is a great home defense weapon and fun to shoot at the range. I had a Mossberg pump, but age and arm strength forced the change even though the pump was a great gun.
      Good going Mossberg.

    10. You can’t go wrong with a Mossberg firearm, the quality and reliability would be difficult to top at any price. I own a model 500 and a 590 pump shotgun, a friend owns a Shockwave and an auto loader.
I recommend Mossberg to anyone interested in a good shotgun or rifle.

      1. I could not have said it better. Well stated. Concise, accurate and factual. Thank you for your comment.
        Semper Paratus…..

    11. I just went to their contact us page and thanked them:

I want to commend you for severing Dick’s from your dealer body. I cut off Dick’s from my purchase locations after their first episode of idiocy after Sandy Hook. I’m a loyal Mossy owner. 2 shotty’s and a patriot. I love them all. Keep up the good work and thanks for taking action and for excusing my poor puns.

      1. Not sure about this but I believe Academy is reporting all gun and maybe even ammo purchases to the Feds.

    12. Yes…now we have two solid and true, Genuine American Firearm Manufactures with a set of balls on them. I thank you, my late Brother, Father and Grandfather, all Veterans, we say Thanks as well to Mossberg and Springfield Armory. I received an E-mail yesterday from RUGER stating that they “Were standing up to shareholders that were putting pressure on them to change their business model”. They said “NO WAY” and will not cave.
Soon to be 3 Genuine American Firearm Manufactures, with a set of Balls. God Bless Mossberg, Springfield and RUGER. Proudly American Built, and Proudly American Owned. There is no cure for STUPID. LOL RIP Dicks.

      1. I got that email from Ruger too. I wrote to thank them. I have a Ruger LC9 and a new AR556. I also have the Ruger mini 30. Love them all.

      2. Hell Mark John,
Ruger has always had a pair. Bill Ruger probably spun in his grave when those idiotic fools presented their “ideas” at the shareholders meeting. If he was still alive he would’ve told them “Go piss up a rope”!

        Phil in TX

    13. I passed by Dicks yesterday and there were only 4 or 5 cars in their large parking lot. This is in Salem Oregon. Thank you Mossberg..

    14. Hurray Mossberg.
More firearm manufacturers need to stop doing business with organizations who actively support and finance the attack on law abiding gun owners. Why should any manufacturer do business with someone who actively works towards putting them out of business. It would be like handing the jihadi a knife and standing there and letting them cut your head off. Hornady is an ammo business who has cut ties with New York law enforcement for the same reason. Bravo to these brave suppliers for standing up for our 2nd Amendment guaranteed RIGHTS!

    15. It’s about time gun owners and the industry start going on the offense. Too long have we been saying and taught that “we’re not like them”, “we don’t support boycotts. etc. What has that done for our cause? Nothing! We remain on the defense at all times. This is the future of our fight to win back and preserve our 2nd Amendment rights. Kudos to Mossberg.

    16. Thank you, Mossberg, you have done well! We 2nd Ammendment supporters commend you for your positive action relative to Dick’s anti-gun movement. We feel confident that many other firearms manufacturers will follow suit, and those who don’t will suffer the same fate as Dick’s.

    17. I don’t own a shotgun yet, but have been thinking about it, maybe its time that I do. Mossberg is one of the manufacturers I was looking at.

      1. You can’t go wrong. I’ve a Mossberg 500 pump, black with wood, that is flawless. Shop around, they can be had for around $300 or less. One of the best buys I ever made.

    18. Great news! First Springfield shuts off Dicks/F&S, Now Mossberg! Hope other arms manufacturers follow suit. Let them sell their overpriced clothing. My shadow will never fall on the entrance of Dicks/F&S!

    19. With Mossberg severing ties with Dick’s, the domino effect should should be ramping up quickly. My guess it will be Hornady next as they have already stopped sales to NY state agencies.

    20. ALL firearms and hunting related manufacturers need to pull the plug on Dicks immediately. Show the hunters and gun owners you REALLY DO support the second amendment.

    21. More firearms companies need to follow Mossbergs refusal to sell products to Dicks or any other company working against the second amendment rights of the people.
Besides good firearms Mossberg has good sense.

    22. Now, if all 100 million plus gun owners would keep ourselves and our families out of the Dick’s stores entirely, the entire chain would fold. We have far more economic and political clout than we realize – and likely far more than the anti-gun folks – but only if we act as a group. We could literally shut down every anti-gun retailer and bankrupt them. If we do it to Dick’s the rest will be very careful about their posturing.

    23. Kudo’s to Mossberg… The Remington alliance needs to do the same. We need to let Dick the dinosaur fade into history.

    24. Field and Stream is a ripoff anyway. They run Blaser ammo on sale with a mailin rebate. I am still waiting on the rebate after 2 months. I will not shop at Dick’s or F&S. Way to go Mossberg.

    25. That’s great. All Firearms, ammo, hunting, shooting supplies, hunting clothing, optics and everything I left out needs to stop doing business with Dick’s,an that goes for Walmart too.Seems like everyone forgot about Wallmart doing the same thing.I personally haven’t stepped in a Wally World since.

    26. SEE ! DICKs !
So Sad (not) NOW GO AWAY–File For Bankruptcy .

    27. I say again, BRAVO!!!
What is your decision about selling weaponry to localities across America who are INFRINGING the RIGHTS of Americans????
One weapons maker has decided NOT to sell weapons or ammo to governmental locations which RESTRICT the LEGAL LAW ABIDING American Citizens.
      What is your consensus?

      1. Mossberg makes the hottest selling scary self defense gun. The Shockwave and other scary looking Guns lost sales has put a big dent in their Dick Head’s business.
BTW what does the “Field” stand for in Field and Stream stores? Let me guess? Butterfly catching. Only problem is Dick’s discontinued butterfly nets. Instead of hunting in an open field, I was hoping to sing “tiptoe through the tulips” catching butterflys instead of hauling my heavy scary looking old model AK-47.

    28. Thanks Mossberg. Just purchased a Mossberg Patriot 308 hunting rifle. Sweet and accurate. Will continue to support Mossberg in the future,

    29. Thank you Mossberg we need more men like you. Thank you you for your dedication to our second amendment rights May God bless you

    30. Thank you for supporting our 2nd. I commend y’all for putting the Constitution first and not Business. I own several mossberg and I will Purchase more in the future

    31. Thank you for standing for the second amendment. It makes me proud to have your backing of our right’s
