U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)-The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industries;
Board of Governors today unanimously voted to expel Dick’s Sporting Goods from membership for conduct detrimental to the best interests of the Foundation.
Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired a Washington D.C.-based government affairs firm, for “[l]obbying related to gun control.” Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO Edward W. Stack announced earlier this year the retail chain would end sales of modern sporting rifles, voluntarily raise the age to 21 to purchase firearms in their stores and called for more restrictive legislation.
Dick’s later announced they would destroy the remaining modern sporting rifle inventory. National Shooting Sports Foundation responded that business decisions should be individually made, but was nonetheless disappointed and the decision does not reflect the reality of the vast majority of law-abiding gun owners.

Is this business (whose name I decline to type – why should I help them advertise) paying attention?
Or, do they think their irrational practices will cause all others in the firearms industry to go belly up with them as that was their plan all along?
I have an idea that they didn’t sell that many guns or ammo to begin with. This has given them a chance to stop selling them and blame it on the NRA and us criminal gun owners. Their profit from gun sales was most likely not that great, and their employees didn’t seem to be very knowledgeable, they bail. Cabela’s and Bass Pro beats them with sales I’m sure.
@RM, yeah, could just be a cover story to mask the failure of the head dick. So, let us use the situation as an example to other businesses.

Got to say that there GM and there CEO or whoever came up to giving up on these arms and the idea of banning these weapons and having them destroyed was the most lame ass idea ever! just to get on the side of the crying left and communist party that they want to warm up to, That just shows you how sorry these owners and stock holders are willing to put them selves against the people that abide and love there arms that protect and in joy the recreation that it provides them. I wonder how their stockholders feel about destroying inventory, can’t help the bottom line along with driving off many of their customers.

We do not shadowban. Our systems will hold comments for administrative approval in some cases if a poster is new to our site (first comment) or comment are coming from an unknown IP address. In the case of this comment kenny its the weekend and we do not approve comments every hour like during the week. Sorry if we were a little slow on the weekends were often at the range.

I was never really impressed with Dick’s. I traveled to Cabela’s, Bass Pro and gun shows, for my shooting needs. always seamed that they were more interested in selling sneakers and work out clothes. The gun dept. was located in an obscure corner and had very little to offer, the ammo when they had a sale more often than not, they ran out early.
Dicks spelled backwards is skcid….let’s call it “skid” for short , because…

I am all done with Dick’s also. How can an individual be able to enlist in any branch of the armed forces at the age of 18 and not be able to buy a firearm? Maybe Dick’s could supply bow and arrows to the front lines. That might be their weapon of choice.
I went into a Dick’s a while back looking for some camping supplies. It took me a good while to track down a sales person who then didn’t know the store’s inventory and left me waiting while he went to find someone who did. That person took me to where he thought what I was looking for might be. Turns out they didn’t, or at least we conldn’t find any. Wasted a good half hour of my life there. Never shopping Dicks again. It appears that after expressing my disgust of Dick’s only to find I was far from alone in my disgust. Un-American company may just need to set up shop in California were moon beam can help subsidize them.
The Boycott is a dual edged sword. Sometimes the counter slash is more damaging than the initial cut. Dicks will find out what it means to scorn their former customers.

I was a Customer of Dicks/Field & Stream, Like I said WAS! never again will I ever set foot in any of their stores & I have one a half a mile from me! Not only was I a customer of theirs I also had a charge acct with them with a $2000 limit, after the Fla School shooting those A**holes lowered my credit to a $100 & I have a 700 plus credit rating! I don’t think they’ll be able to write off deliberate destruction of valuable inventory. Either their bottom line will take a hit, or – if they try to write it off – the taxman will (hopefully) come after them. In either case, there’s probably a solid basis for a stockholder suit against their management for breach of fiduciary duty.

They are an overpriced store with only basic knowledge of guns to start with so who needs Dick’s?
Everyone should also remember that Dick’s doubled and tripled the price of their ammunition during the Obama-years shortage. They are not a company that is friendly to hunters and shooters. No matter what your sport, do not patronize this company…. they support repeal of the 2nd Amendment.
Dicks needs to be kicked in another spot,located close to their namesake because they have proven no use for their gonads.
