New Jersey Democrat Reinstituting Racist Practices to Discourage Gun Ownership

Murphy’s measures will guarantee plenty more crying and weeping.

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “Gov. Phil Murphy is proposing to significantly hike fees for buying and selling firearms in New Jersey, a move that would raise the cost of gun permits and licenses for the first time in half a century and likely trigger a legal challenge from Second Amendment advocates,” NJ.com reported Thursday. “Murphy, a Democrat who has already signed half a dozen gun control bills in his first few months in office, has publicly called for raising such fees.”

Of course he did.  New Jersey’s draconian citizen disarmament diktats weren’t enough.  The new edicts won’t be either. Neither will Murphy’s proposed incremental Intolerable Act. They never will be.

“The plan would raise the cost for handgun purchase permits from $2 to $50; firearms identification cards from $5 to $100; handgun carry permits from $50 to $400; retail gun dealer licenses from $50 to $500; and wholesaler/manufacturer licenses from $150 to $1,500, among other hikes.” theNJ.com report continues. As much as he hates guns not in the control of those working for him, Murphy’s not above looking forward to the prospect of “$1.4 million in additional revenue from the sale of firearms.”

Bear in mind this is just to own a firearm, which is supposedly a right. If you want to carry one in New Jersey, good luck, or I should say “Bad.” Per economist and author John Lott:

“New Jersey is the second most restrictive state on issuing permits, second only to Hawaii. The new rules will codify the practice of the police and judges in giving out permits and prevent legal challenges to denials. No one will be eligible for a New Jersey concealed handgun permit unless they have recently had a violent crime committed against them or received direct, verifiable, significant threats.”

And even that’s no guarantee.

Government charging a fee to exercise a fundamental right is reminiscent of nothing so much as Jim Crow-era poll taxes. And it’s curious, for a party that claims requiring voter ID disenfranchises minorities, they’re fine with doing that with guns to disarm the least prosperous populations among us (and typically the ones that overwhelmingly vote Democrat).

It’s more insidious than that. This is not the first time adding to the cost of a firearm has been used to deprive minority citizens of their rights:

“Among these laws, the forerunners of so-called ‘Saturday Night Special’ legislation, was Tennessee’s ‘Army and Navy’ law (1879), which prohibited the sale of any ‘belt or pocket pistols, or revolvers, or any other kind of pistols, except army or navy pistol’ models, among the most expensive, and largest, handguns of the day. (Such as the Colt Model 1960 Army, Model 1851 Navy, and Model 1861 Navy percussion cap revolvers, or Model 1873 Single-Action Army revolver.) The law thus prohibited small two-shot derringers and low-caliber rimfire revolvers, the handguns that most Blacks could afford.”

And it’s even more insidious than that. Who thinks the mutt that (allegedly) shot up the art festival, a just-released felon and thus a “prohibited person,” gives a damn what fees Phil Murphy tacks on to permits?

Who thinks the Bloods, the Crips, the Latin Kings, MS-13, Vatos Locos, the 18th Street Gang and all the others will have their activities curtailed in the slightest? Gun-grabbing Opposite Day “progressives” are sticking it once more to the “law-abiding” and creating even more incentives for a dangerous black market (and attendant “turf wars”) to flourish.

So look for the killings to continue and get worse, look for opportunistic politicians and the useful idiots that empower them to scream even louder about blood being on NRA’s hands and that “Something must be done!” Look for corporate cowards to cave to whatever demands are issued on social media by “outraged” loudmouths who aren’t even their customers. Look for gutless RINOs and assorted industry quislings to offer up more “compromises.” And look for the very people demanding edicts that make it harder for peaceable minorities to lawfully keep and bear arms to smear majority gun owners as the ones who are the racists.

Everything else has failed so the Democratic Party is returning to its roots. Gun control is reviving Jim Crow. Antifa is simply the Klan in different colored sheets. The racial justice programs on our campuses are separate but equal revived. Governor Cuomo of NY even floated the idea of reviving indentured servitude.

I would hope that all those business’s affected by these higher charges, see fit to GREATLY increasing their fees for ANYTHING their state government wants to purchase. Make it fu__king painful!!!! When they start purchasing out of state, they will be hurting their own people and business’s, and hopefully they will get voted out of office. Example….if a city needs holsters for it’s police force, then charge them $1000 each. Make it hurt!!!!!

Johnny

DO NOT COMPLY with ANY gun control legislation. If they come for your guns show them the business end.. Thats what our Founding Fathers did. We must do the same.,

Man! I thought California was bad. I feel for NJ gun owners.
Give Sacramento loons time and California will be just as bad.

Wild Bill

@Eric, It is just as bad, but with better scenery! How you been, brother?

Eric_CA

@WB,
I got an email showing you replied. However, When i clicked on the link the web site didn’t show your comment. I waited a few days for it to show up.

Anyway, speaking about scenery. Last weekend I ate at Gladstones in Malibu. Plenty of “nice” scenery there. Partcularly the two legged type. Hope all is well.

Wild Bill

@E CA, I have been to Gladstones! Pricey, but the “ambiance” is worth it.
All here is dry. No hay, no beef. No beef, prices go up. hard on peach trees, pecan trees, and everyone is worried about fire. We are all sick of this August weather.

TAKING A RIGHT AND TURNING IT INTO A PRIVILEGE CONTROLED BY YOUR ENEMIES IS CALLED TREASON. FINES, FEES, BURDENSOM TAX ARE ALL THE HALLMARK OF A TYRANT GOVERNMENT. IN 1775 WE STARTED SHOOTING THEIR ASS OUT OF HERE AND IN 1783 WE FINNISHED THE JOB. THIS KIND OF ACTIVITY CONFIRMS THE REINTRODUCTION OF ENEMY CROWN LAW UPON OUR COUNTRY. YOU CANNOT NEGOTIATE WITH A TYRANT. YOUI GET RID OF THEM. BUY MORE AMMO. LIBERTY1775

Murphy, hear this’ You will be the first sought out and dealt with if and when an armed rebellion happens in the US. From the looks of things that day may not be far off. Not only U but your entire family, Your wife, and your kids, will be forfeit, think about that. Revolutions have a way of getting out of hand. Just look at what happened during the French revolution. If you choose to whistle past the graveyard of history you are doomed sir. I do not advocate violence against another human being, there are others who will under… Read more »

No need to wait for some complicated rebellion, just run into him with your car and spill a little whiskey on yourself. If you are in your car, you are just a motorist. Then invoke the “foreign national” defense.

Just another way to make the poor and disenfranchised more dependent on the government while the elites continue to protect themselves and their families.

Charles Valenzuela

Elitist liberal politicians don’t care about criminals with guns. The body guards and gates that they already have will easily protect them from armed criminals. Criminals with guns are controlled enough for these elitist gun grabbers already. WE are the ones they want and NEED to disarm because, when we have had enough of them and their elitist libtard crap we may, at the end of the day, use OUR guns if necessary to replace these self-serving politicians with real Americans, because they are going to continue to gerrymander our voting precincts by filling them with leftist-voting illegal immigrants and… Read more »

There are many individuals that if pushed in the corner and provoked will shoot their way out. I am hoping that whoever is sent to get them have the politicians in first to test the water.
They can’t leave home without their armed bodyguards.

Mr. Murphy
For those people that have guns you think taking away our 2nd amendment is going to help your cause, i can guarantee it will not. We The People will stand up for our rights like when we elected President Donald Trump i still will be here but you mean nothing to me or my rights as an American as my new favorate word is:
WOMP WOMP

Texan

I agree with the Governor, it sends a strong message. I will never set foot in New Jersey. Even though one of my ancestors is on the list of original founders of New Jersey. I now find that something to be ashamed of. Same reason I am moving out of Illinois.

Colonialgirl

Should we mention the state legislature being loaded with anti-gun liberal morons who without Doubt live in fenced, gated communities with armed guards and undoubtedly have armed guards around themselves whenever they appear in public.

Bobo

This guy has armed guards and one of the reasons so many people have left NJ. It was once a nice place to live until rocket scientists like this came into power. I blame the people of NJ for putting him into a position where he is ruining a beautiful state. They will have to live with his poor decisions. Ban guys and the bad guys will always have access to them. What is ironic is that these gov’t genuises really think the bad guys follow the laws. The bad guy cannot even spell L-A-W

rbdjr

Gov murphy will be voted out in the next term, between taxes being raised and the restrictive gun laws he will not get re-elected Thank God!
Rich clueless gov who has armed guards protecting him and so much money he has no idea what the majority of the states people are living week to week

captainjack

Its important to get that imported tyrant out of office ,but that will not be for atleast three more years. The demoscums control Trenton. We have to turn that around,at the state and federal levels, there are around one million hunters and gun owners in this state,we have to get rid of the shit that will dictate how we live, and elect people who will respect the right of the lawbiding people of this state, to make their own free choice to live their lives!!!!!

Joe Lo Schiavo

I left NJ 45 years ago to move to Florida and never looked back! Boy, am I sure glad I did! I’ve been carrying legally for years. GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! EVER HEAR OF THE BERLIN WALL? LOL

Michael Kohrs

Even under Republican leadership New Jersey gun laws have been horrendous. To see increases of that magnitude in fees and license costs reeks of people control. Lets not forget that the criminals wont have to pay these fees. They just steal what they need. In turn the governor makes it hard on working, law abiding citizens to protect what they work for. Of course the Governor wont need to worry because he has a security detail specifically for his protection. Gun freedom advocates need to start pushing their own condidates in an effort to thwart the injustice Democrats are pushing.

Henry

In states like New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, there is no “Republican leadership.” The “Republicans” there are just Democrats in drag. Chris Christie? Mitt Romney? Bill Weld? John and Lincoln Chaffee, father and son? Every one of them a backstabber.

Steve Thomas

Stand by, NJ is about to become the largest Black market gun state. Just because a lib tryant enacts a law dosen’t mean the people will comply. In the end the gov won’t have any idea who has one or how many. Might as well get the barb wire out and fence it off.

Missouri Born

If there is any gun manufacture’s or any related firearm products being made in the state of New (Communist) Jersey they should start the process of moving to a friendly state or drop a ton of money on removing this guy and some of his minions that are anti gun.

Bud

Just imagine what it would be like with one of these idio socialist in the White House. And, I bet the governor does have armed guards.

Herb T

You forgot to mention look for minority “leaders” lying to their followers about republicans being the oppressors of the Constitution.

Mike

This is typical liberal response. Don’t do anything to make the problem better, actively make it worse! Then you get to fix the problem again,,,,and again,,,,and again. And usually, the original problem was created by the liberals in the first place. The art show shootout was a direct result of liberal policies resulting in the release of a danger to the public before his sentence was served. None of these new, old , or laws of the future would have stopped him.

Tionico

not to mention the cold hard illegal FACT that almost NO ONE who is a common citizen of New Jersey is legally allowed to carry about with them, on their persons, the ONLY universally respected tool for self defense. Just think…. of the thousand or so fulks at that event at that time, somewhere ear a hundred would have been armed in most other jurisdictions. Thus, likely around ten armed skilled citizens, desiring to assure “the security of a free state), would have taken action to end this shooting long before the FlatFoots showed up to escort guys with new… Read more »

@Tiinico…is it Thanjsgiving already ? Do you think Murph was one of those father rapers mentioned by Arlo ?

Leo Smith

Gov. Murphy is a Criminal. Trying to make Criminals out of Law Abiding Citizens. He will Die of old age before I give up a gun or magazine. Or he will perish in the Fires of Democracy when they call.

VT Patriot

But, but, but that would make you an instant criminal. Doesn’t joisey have enough of them already? I’d suggest you get ‘tats” all over your face first. They’d think you were MS-13 and leave you alone. Then you could carry anywhere and not be bothered.
