Montgomery, Alabama Police Department Replaces Official Duty Firearm with SIG SAUER P320

Newington, N.H.-(Ammoland.com)- SIG SAUER, Inc., is pleased to announce the Montgomery Alabama Police Department has selected the SIG SAUER P320 as their official duty firearm. The Montgomery Police Department has a complement of more than 500 sworn officers protecting the second largest city in the state, with over 200,000 citizens.

“We are honored that the Montgomery, Alabama Police Department has chosen the P320 as their official duty firearm for its full complement of officers,” said Tom Jankiewicz, Executive Vice President, Law Enforcement Sales, SIG SAUER, Inc. “The P320’s unique modular design and serialized trigger-group gives the men and women of the Montgomery Police Department the ability to select frame and grip size for their official duty pistol according to personal preference. This is really an ideal feature for a large police force like Montgomery.”

The P320 is a modular, striker-fired pistol available in full-size, carry, compact, and subcompact sizing. The serialized trigger group makes the P320 adaptable to multiple caliber, size, and grip options. The P320 is available in 9mm, .357SIG, 40S&W, and .45ACP, with a choice of contrast, or SIGLITE Night Sights. The intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.

“SIG SAUER’s commitment to the law enforcement community is to provide them with superior firearms to protect and serve their communities – and the P320 exemplifies this commitment. We look forward to developing our partnership with the Montgomery Police Department and supporting their mission – to safeguard the life and property, preserve the peace, prevent and detect crime, enforce the law, and protect the rights of all citizens,” concluded Jankiewicz.

SIG SAUER will deliver P320 pistols to replace their previously issued Glock pistols.

Regardless of the calibre the Alabama police chose to use, the SIG 320 comes in the best calibre’s for police defense, national security and for our front line fighters. The P320 has its roots back to the SIG P250, THE 250 I named it my transformer Gun. It would transform from a 22 calibre, to 9 mm Luger, to the awesome Sig 357, to 40 S&W and to the work horse of the US Armed Forces the 45 ACP. The P320 is not much different than the P250. The 250 was a double action only, people who did not give… Read more »

A fine choice. I own 2 myself. I can configure them any way I need them. I’m a retired cop, I wish they were available when I was on the job. I’ve switched over to them for EDC. I have no plans to get rid of my Glocks, Barretta, Colt 1911’s ect, I enjoy having them and shooting them. A work gun is in a different category. The Army made a wise choice as well. This weapon now gives a choice other than the Glock. Glocks are Exalent weapons, but the on size fits all doesn’t always work out for… Read more »

So, which of the four available calibers are the Montgomery Police getting? This is an interesting little detail that for some reason, frequently gets left out of these articles. Also, any idea on what load (ammo brand, item number) they’ll be carrying?

You know what I am thinking.
