Democrat Congressman Wants to Tax & Register Squirrel Guns

Democrat Congressman Wants to Tax & Register Squirrel Guns

Fairfax, VA – -( By the standards of today’s anti-gun zealots, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) seems at first glance to be aiming rather low with H.R. 1263, which seeks to add to the National Firearms Act any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun that has the capacity to accept a detachable [magazine].”

Oh, don’t get us wrong. No reasonable, freedom-loving person would try to impose such a preposterous, constitutionally-suspect burden on such a large swath of America’s firearm owners.

But unless you’re actually proposing to ban and confiscate guns, and maybe even to nuke resisters, you’re hardly at the vanguard of contemporary Democrat firearm prohibitionists.

Only last year, Deutch himself was co-sponsoring legislation to ban America’s most popular centerfire rifles.

And even now, he’s trying to ban and encourage the surrender of the types of magazines that are standard equipment on the firearms Americans commonly use to protect themselves and their homes.

So what gives? Is Ted going soft on his hatred for firearms?  Not really.

As usual, the devil is in the details.

We all know by now that anti-gun Democrats want to ban AR-15s and other highly popular and extremely common semiautomatic rifles, which is why they generically refer to them as “assault weapons.”

Anti-gunners in fact compete with each other in trying to find the most comically hyperbolic terms to describe these ubiquitous firearms peacefully possessed by millions of law-abiding Americans.

Deutch himself prefers to call them “weapons of war made for the sole business of killing people.

Heck, “award-winning journalist and … author” Nina Burleigh even tried to one up all gun controllers by tweeting, “Almost every single person I’ve ever heard of with an AR-15 has been a mass murderer.”

But if anti-gun Democrats are so proud of wanting to ban “assault weapons,” why would one of them settle for the lesser step of regulating them under the NFA, in which case they’d still be legal but subject to a $200 tax, federal registration, a de facto waiting period of many months, and reams of red tape?

While the H.R. 1263 takes a lesser step than an outright ban, it also substantially expands the types of firearms affected by the bill. Usually “assault weapons” are legislatively defined as a semiautomatic rifle or shotgun with one or more “military style features” – things like pistol grips, flash hiders, collapsible stocks, etc. – that any serious person understands do not fundamentally change the ballistics, performance, or capacity of gun.

Deutch’s latest bill avoids this by drawing a much brighter line at all semiautomatic rifles and shotguns fed by a detachable magazine.

This is much more sweeping in scope than any “assault weapon” ban currently pending in Congress.

It would include not just centerfire rifles like the AR-15 and AK variants but even the sorts of rimfire .22 and .17 rimfire rifles used for target shooting or hunting small game like rabbits or squirrels or for teaching the fundamentals of marksmanship to Scouts and summer campers. There are tens of millions of these rifles currently in law-abiding hands.

It’s enlightening to see that anti-gun members of Congress, who claim to be focused on reducing “gun violence,” are more concerned with rimfire rifles used for plinking and small game than focusing on why so few criminals who try to buy a gun are actually prosecuted. Perhaps Congressman Deutch has a special affinity for squirrels, rabbits, and woodchucks.

Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the “lobbying” arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is responsible for preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals in the legislative, political, and legal arenas, to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. 1. The bottom line is “Registration” of any firearm will signal that the person that registers any will undoubtedly possess other guns. It’s just another gun control scam.

    3. Need to register ALL Democrats AND liberals soon. Won’t be quite as hard to find them when the SHIT HITS THE FAN !

      1. These TRAITORS should be dragged out of their houses at 3am and set down in front of their very own military tribunal. Then, if and when the guilty verdict is announced, they can be strung up right there in their front yards. Do they get these ideas from Bloomberg or Soros funded think tanks ? It is obvious to many that they are doing their best to render the law abiding American citizen defenseless. They are waging war against WE THE PEOPLE and the U. S. CONSTITUTION. They are our enemy that is paving the way for future invaders, and the criminals who are already here, not to mention the Zio-Nazi-Commie-Bolsheviks that infest our government, our Press, our Education system, etc.. I doubt they could put forth a detailed, credible justification for their draconian laws, other than they hate us and the SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND. This guy is just another of the Deutsch Bags who have crawled out of the woodwork since the TRAITOR BILLIONAIRES started handing out money to the gun grabbing maroons.

      2. Possibly not, but honestly when SHTF ya think the commies will come venturing out into MAGAland, where the hats are red and the girls are armed?? I think that if you want to know who the lefties in this country are, you just need to raid the state’s election office and go to the VOTER REGISTRATION rolls. If someone were to hack in to those and copy the registration records, you’d know EXACTLY who all the commies are in America!!

I’m not averse to the idea of doing to them FIRST what they plan on doing to us!

    4. Nina Burleigh even tried to one up all gun controllers by tweeting, “Almost every single person I’ve ever heard of with an AR-15 has been a mass murderer.

Hmmm.. she reveals the sort of company she keeps.

I know dozens of people who own those Black and Ugly rifles, and together they own well over a thousand of them. Maybe several thousands. And so far NOT ONE has ever used one of those rifles to harm any person.

I wonder if she remembers the civiliain neighbour who, when he heard shots fired (from an AR tye rifle) at the church next to his home, ran inside, got his OWN AR type rifle, and used HIS AR type rifle to limit the death toll caused by the shooter to only 26 persons. Had he not fired that one round from HIS AR type rifle, it is quite obvious that every other person yet living in and near that church building would have also been murdered. It seemed the maniac shooter was in the process of systematically killing all those whom he had already wounded, and any others yet living. but the one GOOD GUY with his own AR type rifle fired ONE ROUND and ended the massacre.

Now, she also needs to remember HOW the killer came into possession of his AR type rifle… he had been convicted of three felonies and dishonourably discharged from the US Air Force… FOUR events or records that, by law, SHOULD have had him listed as a “Prohibited Person” unable to buy firearms or possess them. HOW did he manage to get his, then? Simple.. on two separate occasions two different Air Force desk jockeys were required to forward his record to the FBI’s NICS backgound check database.. but DID NOt DO SO. The laws were in place to keep firearms out of the hands of this Bad Guy…. but some flunky failed to DO HIS JOB. Now 26 are dead, and more wounded.

WHEN will the “common sense gun control laws” get round to holding such slackers crinimally responsible for their negligence? These two desk jockeys are accessories to each of those seventeen murders. WHY are they not being dealt with? They in effect supplied this killer with his murder weapon, contrary to the “common sense gun control laws” already on the books.

    5. SOmebody whack this congresscritter upside his brick haid and remind him that this nation exists precisely BECAUSE Stupid Farmers with their SquirrelGuns plucked those Squirrel Guns off their walls, walked out their front doors, and began FIRING UPON THE ENEMY, at that time King George Three’s much hated Lobsterbacks. The greatest, best equipped, most highly skilled and trained, fighting force on the planet ws bested time after time over ten years and finally driven from this continent at Yorktown because “Stupid Farmers with their Squirrel Guns” know how to, and when, to use them.

Washington State have already had their version of this same legislation rammed down our throats by BloomingIdiotBurg and Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Nick Hanauer, and other such traitors. I went to bed Tuesday evening 6 November 2018, and did not own one “assault weapon”. When I woke up Wednesday morning I learned that I had suddenly become the proud owner of over a dozen of them. My Ruger 10/.22, my Marlin and Mossburg equivalent, my Browning BAR’s, my FN, are now “assault rifles”.

I find it VERY disturbing that an almost identical bill has been floated out in front of a number of state legislatures, or signatures gathered to put it on the ballot as a citizen’s initiative, which tells me there is SOMEONE or some organisation pushing all of these. I think most of us reading here could write down the name of the treasonous creature using his cubic megabux to buy gun control across the natio. WHO will bell THAT cat?

    6. Weapons of war? Exactly the kind of thing our forefathers thought American’s should keep around their homes or with them when they travel.

      1. Weapons of War?
Need proof? Think about the following inventions:
        1). Gunpowder
        2). Black Powder
        3). Fuse lit hand cannons
        4). Matchlock Muskets/Pistols
        5). Flintlock Muskets/Pistols
        6). Percussion Cap Musket/Pistols
        7). Development of Rifled Barrels
8). Development of the Minie Ball projectile
        9). All revolving cylinder firearms
10). Development of the self-contained cartridge
        11). Breech loading rifles
        12). Gatling Guns
        13). Lever Action Rifles
14). Pump Action Rifles and Shotguns
        15). Development of smokeless powders
        16). Bolt Action Rifles
        17). Semi-Automatic Pistols (originally called “self-loading”)
18). Full Auto (heavy) Machine Guns
        18). Development of “boat-tail” bullets
        19). Semi-Automatic Rifles (originally called “self-loading”)
        20). Full Automatic Rifles
21). Select Fire Rifles (semi or full based on selector switch)
Referring to firearms as “Weapons of War” is how liberal gun control zealots try to control the language, to get what they truly desire…TOTAL CIVILIAN DISARMAMENT! There is only one true gun law that should be enforced, and that is the Second Amendment. Everything else is an unconstitutional/intolerable act of infringement that should be repealed immediately. Remember, until the NFA of 1934, civilians could be (and were) armed equal to the military. The “Valentines Day Massacre” perpetrated by Capone’s henchmen was the excuse used to pass it, much like the mass shootings of today are used as props by the left.
REPEAL: NFA 1934, GCA 1968, FPA 1986, School safety 1993 (Gun-Free Death Zones), and all state “Assault Weapon” and “High Capacity Magazine” Bans

    7. Little bites at the big apple. Banning and restricting ownership and the exercise of total control begins (began) with the first national anti-gun acts and now we are down to the core of the apple and need to stop the process, even little moves as we don’t have a lot left to lose any more before it’s all gone.

    8. There is so much that could be said on this topic, and who is the $$$ behind it but it is important for us to know, to LEARN from history: read the entire article at the link
Americans never give up your guns Thursday, December 27, 2012
      By Stanislav Mishin

These days, there are few few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one’s self and possessions.

This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered…

Moscow fell, for example, not from a lack of weapons to defend it, but from the lieing guile of the Reds. Ten thousand Reds took Moscow and were opposed only by some few hundreds of officer cadets and their instructors. Even then the battle was fierce and losses high. However, in the city alone, at that time, lived over 30,000 military officers (both active and retired), all with their own issued weapons and ammunition, plus tens of thousands of other citizens who were armed. The Soviets promised to leave them all alone if they did not intervene. They did not and for that were asked afterwards to come register themselves and their weapons: where they were promptly shot.

      1. @JA….I want to hear more about that takeover. Who were “The Reds”. Where did they come from. I have heard stories, but I want to hear it from you, with no politically correct BS. And I want to hear what you know about what Solzhenitsyn had to say about it. BTW, did you know that his book “Two Hundred Years Together”, is banned here in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave ?. What kind of donkey dust is that ? I’ll bet that your Reds, and those who ban that book, and those who persecute people in Europe for “Thought crimes”, and those attempting to disarm Americans today, are all the same people, right ? They are the Khazars, the fake Joos, right ?
