USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- The following is an old article I wrote back in 2007 that I have updated in reverence to the evil shooting at two Muslim houses of worships in the nation of New Zealand.

As an Air Force lieutenant, I was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia, and trained to be an Army Infantry officer. During the patrolling phase of training, we learned how to set up an ambush and stop the enemy cold as they walked past. We also learned that the enemy was instructed on how to set up an ambush and we could be caught in their crossfire. If the ambush is laid out and executed correctly and you walk into it, your chances of survival are very slim. One of the tactics we learned was when all else failed, as you were being ambushed you have got to charge the enemy’s machine guns.

Maybe, just maybe you will disrupt their attack enough to survive the day.

Attacking the machine gun (figuratively) was what the passengers attempted on that aircraft flying over Pennsylvania on 9-11. Yes, they died, but they disrupted the enemy enough, that the original target of the Muslim terrorist’s mission was spared death and destruction.

Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman, retired US Army, has defined people in three categories. Most people are sheep who get on with their daily lives never intending to hurt anyone. Then there are wolves whose very way of life it to prey on the helpless flocks of sheep in our society. Wolves kill for their basic needs, but they also destroy for sport. They inflict deliberating harm to life only for the sake of persecuting the weak and the helpless.

The third category is the sheepdogs. Sheepdogs are the protectors of the greater society of sheep. In human form, they are the military members who elect to join the ranks of the defenders of our American way of life. Policemen are the civilian branch of the defender-sheepdog brother and sisterhood.

The problem with sheepdogs is they can appear to us to look too much like wolves. They have to be that way. One minute they are looking all shaggy and oh so cute you want to pet them and the next minute they are biting off the head of a wolf, which was sneaking up on you as you failed to pay attention to your surroundings. There is a fear in the flock that the sheepdogs will take advantage of their sheep charges and either try to control or bring destruction to parts of the flock. In some nations of the world, the sheepdogs are the enemy; this is not, however, the case in the United States (or New Zealand).

Unlike most countries, our sheep/populace can arm themselves against threats, both foreign and domestic. We live in an emergency / 911 society where we expect to pick up the phone and have the sheepdogs show up in minutes to protect and save us. I once heard a mother call into the Dr. Laura radio show complaining about the fact she did not want her son to have any exposure to firearms. However, when she went over to her father-in-law’s house, it was the home of a safe gun owner. She felt his ideas were going to impact her son wrongly. Dr. Laura asked who does the mother call when there is a potentially violent situation in her life. Of course, the mother stated she called a big burly policeman who has a gun on his hip, who will come and save the day and not take advantage of the weakened state of the citizen who has called for help.

The mom wants a sheepdog to save her and her family from harm, but she cannot envision her son or daughter becoming a sheepdog. What if the sheepdog that responds is a petite female with a handgun on her hip, or for that matter a black-rifle in her hands? Will mom feel better?

A grade school teacher was instructing her class that in case of a violent invasion of the classroom by a “wolf” the children were to huddle together on the floor in the corner of the room. Maybe the “wolf” would just go away and not harm the “baby sheep.” A student who was a refugee of the Balkan Wars told the teacher she was wrong. This child had seen the “wolves” up close and personal. He said the class had to escape or fight back with whatever they could use to defend themselves with.

Wolves hate sheep that have weapons and the intent and skill to use them. I would suggest that if the students at Virginia Tech had attempted to “charge the machine gun” and disrupt the Korean wolf, fewer student sheep would be dead now. I am an old retired sheepdog, but the claws and the fangs stay sharp, and I am always watching for the wolves in sheep’s clothing. It is almost 20 years since the 9-11 attacks – the wolves are still out there.

I have a friend who is a retired New Zealand police officer who lives in Christchurch where evil entered two Muslim mosques and shot over 90 people and killed 51.

I started e-mailing with him right after hearing about the shooting. He is in his 70s and like most New Zealand cops, did not openly carry a firearm on duty during his law enforcement career. He did however routinely argue with his cop leadership that there needed to be more armed police on the streets and roads of New Zealand (NZ). This was back in the 1980s and 90s when no one wanted to even discuss armed Kiwi (NZ) cops. Scotland has this same problem.

His comment about the police response to the Muslim mosque shooting is as follows.

“I’m very proud of our Police response. They have suddenly been pushed into adulthood, and they responded well. Two country cops answering the call to come to town and help, nailed the shooter 6 minutes after Police got the first 111 telephone call. He had more guns and a couple of IEDs attached to his car, but later they rammed him off the road and dragged him out before he could blow the car.”

The only violence in NZ is supposed to happen exclusively in a Lord of the Rings movie being filmed in the nation. Sadly terror and evil has come to the country that is known for its welcoming to any.

I have a personal motto, “Evil hates organization” the Kiwi cops stepped up with their organization and met evil head-on. They crashed their squad car into evil to stop it.
On the issue of run, hide or fight, NZ resident Abdul Aziz formally from Afghanistan and Australia determined there was no running or hiding. Mr. Aziz had seen deadly violence of the “wolf” up close and personal back in Afghanistan and knew he had to deflect the shooter somehow. Mr. Aziz had to keep the evil from entering the second mosque where his own family was waiting and potentially the shooter’s next victims if Mr. Aziz failed to disrupt that evil.

Mr. Aziz grabbed of all things a credit card reader to use as a potential weapon. He confronted the shooter outside while evil pointed a shotgun at him. The shooter threw the shotgun on the ground (it was empty) and ran to his vehicle to attempt escape. Mr. Aziz launched the empty shotgun at the window of the shooter’s car and thereby confusing the driver and putting him off his terrorist mission.

The shooter’s plan of operation was falling apart because he did not count on someone unarmed taking the initiative to try and stop him. The shooter drove off in haste, and his vehicle was later rammed by an NZ squad car.

  • Mr. Aziz charged the machine gun and ended the killing spree.
  • Mr. Aziz could just an easily be one of the dead–but he is not.
  • NZ does not have capital punishment, and the shooter will never die for his evil.

Maybe it is time for an exception. I have been to Christchurch, and I have been in the town square.

This is not meant to be a joke or to be inflammatory rhetoric, but maybe it is time for a public execution. Let every media camera that wants to film the event, record the death of evil and then send that footage to the world. A just and fair trial for the accused and a just and fair execution is what is called for here to send a message to future evil. My NZ cop friend does not think capital punishment will be returning to his country.

Evil hates organization, and it would appear the Kiwis are well organized to disrupt and defeat evil.

Are they prepared to kill evil?

I posted this on https://www.ksccw.com/forum/the-range/the-workbench/1107840-whatr-is-wrong-about-nz-gun-laws-and-self-defense#post1107840 a few days ago. Whatr is wrong about NZ gun laws and self-defense 03-18-2019, 08:46 Copy from BBC report. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-47596816 Two others are in custody, but police say they do not believe they were connected to the attack. One had gone to help armed with a gun – and has been charged with firearms offences, Police Commissioner Mike Bush said. That says a lot about wishing everybody was peaceful? These are my sig-line. The people think the Constitution protects their rights; But government sees it as an obstacle to be overcome. If your religion says… Read more »

Just suppose……. ONE MAN of the character and determination of Mr. Aziz, inside the first mosque, hearing the shooting and screams….. what COULD he have done inside there? If he went one on one against a known armd killer with.. a CREDIT CARD READER of all things, would he not stand against the same perp with his own handgun, lawfully carried? Well, add one more mass shooting in a Certified Defenseless Victim Zone to the growing list…….. if I have it right, I can only remember TWO mass public shootings where the public (victim pool) were lawfully allowed to possess… Read more »

Just exactly what was different? Nothing. Evil man hoses down unarmed civilians. Cops don’t shoe up for 30 min. the so called first responders! The actual first responder was able to engage and scare off the bad guy. There is little doubt the first responder saved lives. Civilians were afraid of the first responder because he was armed. There are three kinds of people: The sheep, the wolves and the sheep dog. The wolves prey on unarmed sheep. To some sheep, the sheep dog looks like the wolf. Both are armed. That being said, the sheep dog is there to… Read more »
