Big-Bore Hunting Power in a 1911: The New Kodiak from Dan Wesson

Kansas City, KS-(Ammoland.com)- Pistols chambered in 10MM continue to gain in popularity with hunters – and CZ-USA continues to gain momentum in the world of 10MM hunting with the two new Dan Wesson (DW) Kodiak pistols.

Available as the DW Kodiak and the DW Kodiak Black, both models of this long-slide 1911 feature six-inch bull barrels for superior accuracy and a longer sight radius. The longer barrels also give the full-power 10MM loads the time needed to develop the round’s truly hard-hitting potential.

The fully-adjustable, fiber optic sights on the DW Kodiaks allow for hunters to quickly get on target even in poor lighting conditions, including dusk and dawn when big game tends to be on the move. Both models also incorporate a rail, allowing the hunter to easily attach a light or other accessory.

With a solid frame and heavier barrel, the DW Kodiaks absorb recoil nicely. The Tri-Tone finish on the DW Kodiak features a black frame, a matte stainless slide, and bronzed small parts including the manual safety, barrel and magazine release. The Tri-Tone finish is not only attractive but tough enough to handle the worst hunting conditions.

Both the DW Kodiak and the DW Kodiak Black also feature a black magwell.

For the hunter who is up to the challenge of pistol hunting, the DW Kodiak and DW Kodiak Black are powerful, accurate, durable – and 100-percent ready for the field.

I have a DW Bruin. It is a fantastic 1911!

10mm is the perfect cartridge. You can run 40SW if you want soft.
Magtech is my plinking choice and at 1250 fps its pretty fun. You want more bang? Step up to Corbon or such.

pa john looks like just u n me remember him I remember years ago he was saying how good that gun is

250 savage guy

How about chambering this pistol for real power- 10mm Magnum! Like the other writers wrote, the 10mm Auto is not equal to the 41 Mag. Plus, Henry Arms chambers a lever action for 41 Mag.
Dan Wesson, chamber this also for 45 Win. Mag., 475 Wildey and 50 Action.

Sapper04

The 10 mm is deemed a magnum load.

Nice pistol !! 10mm ammo is obtainable through most firearm dealers. 6″ barrel, should help reduce recoil, improve muzzle velocity and accuracy. CZ-USA recently announced major expansion in the American firearms market. I hope they’re successful in there endeavor. It’s a win for every American firearm owner.

You can convert a.45 to .45 Super for similar power and a bigger “hole” for under $200!
Lone barrels and slides are also available! With Underwood ammo, you can have greater penetration with .45 Super as well!

Really got my attention until I saw the price tag, I’ll stick to my Ruger 41 Mag, single six. I’ve killed a few nice bucks a few elk and 2 antelope One deer and one antelope from quick draw.

Don’t give up on the 10mm. You can buy 3 Glock 20 SFs for this price and each one of them hold twice the ammo. But keep that 41 mag, the 10 is not equal to the 41 no matter how many times you read it. I have a Md 58 Smith that I absolutely love. Gives me a chance to own more different guns!

Rock

10mm = .357 mag.

Here is “Razor Dobbs Alive” on Facebook:

While the facebook page appears to be fine, do *NOT* try going directly to the “.com” version of the same name – I tried that and luckily my “Norton Security” anti-virus software was able to detect and block what it called “fake tech website attack” or something similar to that. The original website must have been hijacked or some such.

Anyway, it appears Razor Dobbs is still packing 10mm heat out into the wilderness…!

I want one in 45 acp. I’ve got three 6” 45s. Love to have a DW to go with them. I’m a target shooter, not a hunter. I have no need for any 10mm pistol.
Oh, and loose the rail please!
