Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019, Restricts Gun Rights & Freedom: Take Action

The goal should be to reduce crime. Burdening law-abiding citizens doesn't stop armed criminals. We need crime-control, not more ‘gun-control'!

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, admits that so-called “gun control” and crime control are different things, with different goals. Crime control focuses on criminals, putting them in prison, and develops reforms, cleans out neighborhoods and makes society safer—a key role of government.

So-called “gun control” in contrast controls the public with paperwork, record keeping, delays, bureaucracy, and big brother's nose where it doesn't belong. Many people see and understand this. Too many, including politicians pandering to voters do not recognize this fact.

Democrats' actions show disdain for the right to self-defense, which gets ignored in proposals for so-called “gun control,” and at the expense of crime-reduction efforts.

Enacted right after the Democrats' stunning affront to the Constitution in H.R.8, where innocently handing a gun to a friend would become a felony (a crimeless act), House Bill 1112, passed in the House on 2/28/19, adds lengthy delays to legally shopping at retail, to cover for law-enforcement shortcomings. JPFO denounced this attempt to further burden innocent citizens without focusing instead on armed criminals who cause mayhem and chaos on our streets. Even if identified, criminals in the new plan go free. The bad law helped move JPFO's symbolic Gun Confiscation Clock ahead by two minutes, to just 12 minutes to midnight.

House Bill 1112 now moves on to the Republican-controlled Senate. Please contact your Senators and tell them to vote NO for the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019.

“The entire new outcry and push for more “gun control” laws came from children at Parkland high school who want to stop school massacres, a truly noble cause,” said Alan Gottlieb, the CEO of JPFO. “But this bill has nothing to do with that, it literally avoids the reason the children are so upset—how do Democrats get away with such a bait and switch?” he asked.

“Legislators promise they will work to end crime and violence, and then press ahead to limit the public's rights and ability to defend itself. It borders on insanity.”

JPFO is calling for gun education and marksmanship training in schools, where the subject is tightly censored.

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, http://www.jpfo.org is America’s most aggressive civil-rights organization, dedicated to destroying the notion of “gun control” as any kind of credible public-policy position. So-called “gun control” does not control guns and doesn’t control criminal behavior. What it does do is disarm the innocent, leaving them helpless in the face of criminals, tyrannical governments and genocide. History repeatedly proves this fact. Founded in 1989 by Aaron Zelman as a response to the Holocaust, JPFO speaks with the moral authority and tenacious commitment of survivors of persecution and knows that surrendering your personal and family safety to government protection courts disaster. “You don’t have to be Jewish to fight by our side, you just have to love liberty.” www.jpfo.org

    1. These law makers should be held responsible for there laws they pass, so when the laws that they pass fail it is those the one that should be responsible because NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAWS AND THE AMENDMENTS . THINK ABOUT DEMOCRATS IT WILL COME TO PASS THAT YOU WILL AND SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE.

    2. The problem with any gun control measure is that that none of the politicians really care. It’s a wedge issue that piles on money and votes. Both “parties” for and against should focus on stopping illegal weapons purchases and stop making it harder for a regular person to walk in, have a check done, pay the money and leave. Spend money towards helping with background checks so there isn’t such a backlog. Work together across state lines to expand reciprocity. Properly train the law enforcement to stop bad guys from getting guns buy working with gun sellers.

Between 1998 and 2017, some 70+ percentage of The NRA money was spent to fight the election of individual candidates running For office. Spend that money to help local law enforcement with training or recruitment or setting up registration workshops for potential gun owners. Spend that money to help with setting up a check point for gun show sales so that a regular person with a criminal background can’t go load up.

The special interests have it so hyped up that the rediculous Democants and the radical Republicunts treat EVERY SINGLE ACTION on gun measures as one of the 7 deadly plagues.

But again, this is America. Welcome, now go buy something.

      1. yu seem to advocate a LOT of restrictions fora “gun guy”. WHY do you promote gun registry? More background checks?
Why not advocate for things like having my Mother May I Card (to carry my handgun concealed), which includs background checks every five years that are FAR more through and intrusive and comprehensive than NICS) be my “Mother May I Buy Another Gun” card? If you have a problem with the idea of not getting a new check for every new purchase, rest assured that EVERY issuer of those handgun Mother May I Cards watches the records, and upon word that a given cardholder has been charged (not yet convicted) with a felony, they hop into the car and go pay a friendly visit to the newly charged individual, pick up the Card, and often confiscate ALL the guy’s guns. Never mind the FACT that we who hold those Cards, as a class, are one sixth as likely, statistically, to be involved in criminal activity as are lw enforcement officers, and that does not include the things LE get off with that would put we mundanes behind bars for a decade or more.

How about this for a “fix NICS” plan….
Keep the database, and ensure ALL pertinent records are reported, as THEORETICALLY done today. NOW, make that database available on line to ANYONE under the following protocols:

I have a gun I want to sell. Charlie, whom I do not know, comes round with strong interest. He checks it out, we haggle the price, he said I’ll buy it. Now, I, the SELLER, go online, perhaps in his presence maybe not, OR call the toll free number. I enter BUYER”S full name, physical address, date of birth, city of birth. Optionally, include the last four of his Social Security Number, if HE is willing.

The system grinds for a few nanoseconds, comes back with APPROVE or DENY and a confirmation number. I write that down, twice, and give that to him along with the gun, in exchange for his money.

I, the seller, have taken the burden of assuring I am NOT selling to a prohibited person.

NO ONE would be able to search the system and find any information on any individual. It would not be a serachable database, only a tool to search a selected set of data relating to only one individual. There would be no more reason to involve “professionals”, to ban interstate sales, etc. Internet sales, have the guy provide the info, I can still run the check., Would this prevent someone using someone else’s “clean” ID to buy a gun? No. WOuld it prevent theft? No. Would it prevent black market sales? No. Could this be used by a private seller at a gunshow? Absolutely. Cell phone or internet. Would it guarantee no sales to Prohibited Persons? No. Does today’s ssytem? Absolutely not.

Note well, and this is whygovernment at present would never enact this, there is NO INFORMATION REQUIRED concerning the actual firearm being purchased. Nor does there need to be today.

I’d seriously consider approving Universal Background Checks provided the informationi about the firearm being transferred is NO LONGER PART OF THE CHECK RECORD. WHY do they need to know who buys which gun, except to create a registry of who has which gun? And THAT is wjhy we MUST continue to oppose Universal Backgruond Checks.

Put the tools needed into the hands of WE THE PEOPLE so that WE can prevent sales to prohibited persons ourselves. NONE OF US want dirtbags, criminals, crazy people, to have guns. But in order to “assure” that, government merely increase the number of infringements upon we who would never use a gun to harm, in an unjustified manner.

    3. Shut down all the gun shops, this is a major
Request. We need gun shops, shut down.
      Stop given gun out.

      1. Gun shops sell more than firearms – they sell non lethal products, they sell accessories, yes even apparel.

Your anti commerce, anti small business approach is telling!

    4. I stopped worrying when I saw the data on New York, Connecticut, Washington (state) and Australia. Owners aren’t about to surrender their only effective means of self defense, especially to a pack of socialists motivated by wealth and power. Everywhere oppressive gun controls have been enacted, only about 20 percent of the owners have complied. I too would be among the 80 percent except when I went to an isolated part of a big lake to test my equipment, a big wave capsized my boat and I lost everything, firearms, ammo, optics, accessories — everything. I kept my license though.
