Millennials for Socialism

If one needed evidence of the gross ignorance of millennials, and their teachers and college professors, it's their solid support for socialism and socialist presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders.

USA – -( If one needed evidence of the gross ignorance of millennials, and their teachers and college professors, it's their solid support for socialism and socialist presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Socialism has produced tragedy wherever it has been implemented. Last year marked the 40th anniversary of nearly 1,000 Americans perishing in a mass suicide/murder in the jungles of Guyana. Just as Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez see socialism as mankind's salvation, so, too, did Rev. Jim Jones, who told his followers, “God is Socialism, and I am Principle Socialism, and that's what makes me God.”

Perhaps the most disastrous failing of our educational system and the news media is that people are neither required nor encouraged to test ideas against facts. The promises of socialism sound wonderful and caring, but in reality, wherever it has been tried it has been a true disaster.

Let's examine the history of socialism.

During the first three decades of the 20th century, Argentina was one of the world's top-10 richest nations. It was ahead of Canada and Australia in total and per capita income. After Juan Peron‘s ideas, captured in his economic creed that he called “national socialism,” became a part of Argentina's life, the country fell into economic chaos. Today it has fallen to 25th in terms of GDP.

Nicolas Maduro, an avowed socialist, has turned oil-rich Venezuela into a place where there are shortages of everything from toilet paper to beer, where electricity keeps shutting down, and where there are long lines of people hoping to get food. Some people are eating their pets and feeding their children from garbage bins. Socialism has crippled Venezuela's once-thriving economy. Today, Venezuela is among the world's most tragically poor countries.

Socialism can be tested by doing a few side-by-side country comparisons. After Germany's defeat in WWII, it was divided into socialist East Germany and capitalist West Germany. West Germans had far greater income, wealth and human rights protections. In large numbers, East Germans tried to flee to West Germany, so much so that the East German government set up deadly mines and other traps to prevent escape. Few, if any, West Germans tried to flee to East Germany, and the West German government spent no resources preventing its citizens from leaving.

Then there's North Korea and South Korea. North Korea's nominal per capita GDP is only 3.6 percent of South Korea's nominal per capita GDP of $23,838. There are few human rights protections for North Koreans. North Korea, like East Germany, has set up deadly mines and other traps to prevent its citizens from escaping.

The key features of a free market system are private property rights and private ownership of the means of production. By contrast, socialist systems feature severely limited private property rights and government ownership or control of the means of production.

There has never been a purely free market economic system, just as there has never been a purely socialist/communist system. Let's do an experiment. First, rank countries according to whether they are closer to the free market or the communist end of the economic spectrum. Then, rank countries according to per capita gross domestic product. Finally, rank countries according to Freedom House's “Freedom in the World” report.

Here's our finding: People who live in countries closer to the free market end of the economic spectrum not only have far greater income and wealth than people who live in countries toward the communist end; they also enjoy far greater human rights protections. Moreover, it's the socialist nations that have murdered tens of millions of their own citizens such as the case with the former USSR and China.

Sanders and other socialists hold Denmark as their dream, but Prime Minister Lars Lekke Rasmussen said: “I know that some people in the U.S. associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy.”

Scandinavian socialism is a myth.

    1. Think on this. Bernie Sanders was THE EXPERIMENT in the 2016 presidential election.
The experiment was for the elite (mostly jooish bankers, hollywood ceo’s etc) to find out WHO would vote/elect socialists into office to complete their takeover of this country.
“The Goal of Socialism IS Communism” – Vladimir Lenin
After the 2016 elections (public records) they now knew what age group, male or female, where they lived etc, would vote for socialism.
Sanders, despite his fake outrage, knew far in advance he was never going to be the nominee and was paid handsomely for it – a 3rd home, new sports car and how many $$ we’ll never know.
Now the elite can throw anyone they choose into the race (Alexandria Orcasio Cortez look alikes) and muslims because with the help of the loser Sanders they know where to put them and the chances of socialists will win. It’s just beginning with many more to come in 2020.

    2. I have yet to figure out why Vermont keeps electing this crackpot. He is a nothing and has never been anything other than a government employee. He has never experienced what it would be like to have a job and have to produce or get booted. The government check has always been there for him. There is not practical experience or talents he could bring to the presidency, other than the tried and failed socialism. Where did the money come from to by the sports car and another house. Did his wife abscond with it from the college or did Hillary pay him to bring the socialist movement to the front to find out if it would be accepted. A few years ago he would have been booed off the stage. What he is proposing can not and will not work as has been proven over and over again.

    3. Socialism kills. Socialism kills freedom, hope, respect for mankind, peace, the dream of a better life for oneself and ones children. The founding fathers warned what would happen if the people decided the government was just a money pit for their whims. They said the nation would fall. Whenever and wherever socialism has been adopted, the common man has suffered, starved and died. Socialism/communism does actually work–right up to the time there is no one left to rob or no free nation to defeat. Venezuela lasted about 10 years being socialist before they went belly up. They were the richest nation in central America. To have a socialistic society the nation must be disarmed to prevent any effort of the people to win back their freedom. This is the overwhelming reason for gun control/gun safety rhetoric. Try to remember that when some self righteous idiot from the government says “turn them in, you don’t need that”. I submit that when they say you don’t need (an AR 15 for example), you are about to need it badly.

There is little doubt if we surrender our firearms, magazines, ammo and equipment, the nation will be prime for the disaster of socialism. It is to the point these days when anyone can call in and complain to the cops and, without any kind of due process, you have to forfeit your gear and/or fight or die in the process of trying to keep it. Smells a LOT like gustapo tactics doesn’t it?

Kids, for the last thirty years at least, have been taught in school the benefits and equalities of socialism. At the very least this is true in public schools. They just don’t know any better-yet. They haven’t lived in the world, they haven’t served in the military, they have a very demented view of life. Ever wonder why the demoncrats want to extend the voting age down to 16 years old? The family ethic is maligned and destroyed. They claim that gender is all in one’s mind, that truth is subjective, that GOD doesn’t exist and the things that have been right or wrong for the last 6,000 years are now reversed. Kruchev said he would bring down the United States during a speech at the U.N. Most will be shocked as to how he said he would accomplish that feat. It reads just like the last thirty years of news in this country. Take a few min. to look that up for yourselves–don’t take my word for it. Little wonder there are socialists in government!

Should we be so foolish as to turn over our weapons, ammo, magazines and gear for the promise of security and peace, there will be none. I want peace, you want peace, but not at the cost of freedom. Freedom is worth living for, arguing for, fighting for, killing for, warring for and if needs be-dying for. There is a peace that can only be found on the other side of war. If that battle must come, I will fight it. There are many of us who took an oath to defend this nation, this people, the constitution from all enemies foreign or domestic. Like many of you, I still live by that oath. Those who would disavow their oath are treasonous and there is a cost for treason.

It’s coming. Arm up, carry on.

    4. A brief shout-out for the article’s author, Dr. Walter Williams, who some time ago was a regular stand-in for Rush Limbaugh when the great one was on leave. Dr. Williams (Ph.D., Economics, UCLA) is one of the great economists in our country and has the rather unique ability of stating things clearly and without gibberish.

      1. Why is Walt’s economic attitudes so hard for other educators to understand ? Are they even worse than the minions they are creating in their classes. Are they so dumb they cannot see the damage they are doing or are they just so greedy that they think somebody else will always be there to provide everything to them for free and not realize that if you don’t put some gas in, the gas tank will run dry. You can be assured that the generation that will ruin America will be the “MILLENNIALS”

    5. Perhaps it’s time to let the “Millenials Did This” meme die, seeing as how some of us are almost 40 years old. Maybe if you old boomer farts could refrain from lumping a vast number of your servicemen and combat vets, cops, firefighters, medical personnel, and basically half of the working age population of this country in with hipster baristas, gutterpunks, welfare queens, and basement dwelling neets, we might stand a better chance of convincing people in my cohort to enhgage with our ideas. Your generation basically invented modern leftism, so if we have to pick an entire generation to blame, maybe it should be yours instead of mine. Bernie is one of yours, after all.

If you guys just want to continue ragging on young people though, update your terminology. Anyone 25 or younger is gen z, or a “zoomer” if you want to to be cool. They like instagram, bubble tea, and bolshevism. get ’em, boys.

          1. @Edgy Perkele, Leftism was “invented” in 1850. As to your cohort “enhgage” (sic) with their ideas”, until you and your legion complete a study of the foundational concepts of our society, you have little to recommend you.

            1. Reading comprehension might not be your strong suit, but you’re an ace at proofreading, brother. Mea culpa on the typo. I said “modern leftism”, as in the current crop of intersectional cultural marxist types running our media and education system that have a direct lineage from the various radical groups that emerged in the sixties, who have since thoroughly infiltrated and subverted our institutions and turned them against what America has traditionally represented. I am not referring to classical marxism or bolshevism. If they were genuine commies they would be acquiring guns instead of restricting them.

I am also not saying that you should engage with the ideas the millennial generation represents, because my whole point is that we do not as a group represent any specific ideology. My point was that if all you do is shake your cane at them damned millennials, that is not a very persuasive way to start a conversation that might get “them”(millennials) to engage with “our”(conservatives) ideas. If we want more conservatives, we have to make them out of younger people because we’re not getting any from anywhere else. With older people starting to pass on and the ever increasing number of immigrants being welcomed with a victim card and special priveleges and benefits by the dems, the numbers going forward are not looking great and we need everybody on our side that we can get. So maybe don’t just dismiss 70 million people unless you really really need to.

That legion thing was weird too. I get the cohort/legion Roman connection, but cohort is just another word for generation. Sometimes I do wish I could cross the Rubicon(or the potomac, I guess) and rout the senate, though.

            2. @ Perkele Not all millennials are like you. Some have been raised properly and taught right from wrong. It is appearnant you have a bone to pick with people that are older than you. Were you traumatized by an older person when you were young or do you just have a bad attitude. That can come from your schooling or the way you were raised. Step back a little and learn more about this world before you stick your neck out only to be cut off. By the way, you spelled millennials incorrectly, and I think that came from your lack of proper education.

            3. @Tomcat I don’t actually have a problem with any stranger that doesn’t have a problem with me. If someone is going to insult my entire generation, why would I not reciprocate? Why are you so entitled that you think your generation can say whatever they want about people and not have them say anything back? Welcome to the internet, where sometimes people say mean things, now get over it. Maybe medicare can give you some humor pills to go along with your generic viagra, because never have I seen a grown man so butthurt over a little banter. Perhaps you’re getting all sensitive due to the waning testosterone that comes with age. And yeah, I spelled some things wrong. Sorry, schoolmarm.

            4. There is no modern leftism. The goals and even tactics have not changed.
He gets the Roman connection, but not the biblical connection. Jesus talked to the demon that called himself “Legion because we are many.” I changed cohort to legion because it was more analogous to the “pull your pants up generation”. Had he read his New Testament, he may have gotten it. Generation is not among the definitions of cohort.
What they think are interesting and equally valid ideas have been rejected by ten successful generations prior to them.

            5. @wildbill
There absolutely is a difference, both ideologically and tactically, between most leftists today and those of earlier eras. The people who stormed the winter palace, assassinated McKinley, turned German streets into battlefields after WWI, and executed the Romanovs have little personally in common withe the weird wannabe eurosocialist culture warriors we’ve been dealing with since woodstock. There are real connections and similarities, but the weapons have largely shifted away from bombings, armed riots, and assassinations towards propaganda, indoctrination, ostracization, and demographics. While the end state would be the same, your average starbucks pinko doesn’t understand what they’re asking for because it’s a slow boil. Most of these people don’t actually have a coherent philosophy, but rather a series of emotions backed up by very little thought, while the thinkers of modern socialism keep their cards a lot closer to the chest than those of yesteryear, and just push for the next little thing they think they can get, digging our grave a teaspoon at a time.

Once again, I am NOT saying “you should listen to millennials because we have new and good ideas that you should really think about”, I’m saying that we do not share a common vision as a generation, since we are as divided ideologically as the rest of America, if not more so. You hate socialists, that’s great. So do I. So do a lot of people my age. Millennials are not Legion, because we are not one, which is my whole point.

Again, what I AM saying is that, aside from the great number of us who are already conservative, there are tons of people in my age group who are generally disengaged from politics and could be receptive to right wing ideas. However, if that message comes in an envelope stamped “everyone between 25 and 40 is a socialist demon”, it’s likely to be kind of a turn off. We need friends, and that’s no way to win friends. This is a Republic, numbers count, and theirs are getting better while ours are getting worse.

              From Merriam-Webster, “cohort” definition 2b:
“a group of individuals having a statistical factor (such as age or class membership) in common in a demographic study”
What we call “generations” are shorthand for the statistical and demographic concept of birth cohort. It’s a lot quicker to say “baby boomers” than it is to say “the 1946-1964 birth cohort”.

            6. @Perky, I don’t hate anyone. You assume too much. Your assertions are just more “make it up as you go” prevarications. Your communiques are too long, and replete with ineffectual aspersions.

            7. @wild bill
Hey man, whatever floats your boat, internet’s basically just one big digital latrine wall after all.

      1. Perkele, as an aging Boomer, I agree with you. Besides the fact we’re erroneously lumping two generational constructs into one convenient bucket, we’re also ignoring the fact that as one ages, many of us (unfortunately not all) become wiser and reject the naive foolishness of youth. Observations of my life, and others with whom I’ve consorted, proves the TRUTH of Churchill’s statement, “If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”

      2. Hey Perkele,

WILCO if you cease assuming some of us “boomer old farts” aren’t combat vets and quit lumping us all together..(I fought in a couple of different spots in my 30 yr career.)

Bernie was born in ’41 which makes him a member of the Silent Generation. Boomers start in 1946. (IE the baby BOOM after WWII). We don’t claim him.

Now get back to work. Daddy needs his social security.

(Teasing you, of course. Thanks for a very valid comment, for serving our nation, and for being a taxpaying, hard working American! Oh, and I’m not on SSec either).

in all seriousness, too many entitled people in our nation of ALL generations. We need to bring back a form of national service so people understand what we have and why it is worth fighting for.

        1. Yeah, sorry about the combat vet thing. Of course there are tons of combat vets in the older generation, and a lot of them didn’t have a choice in the matter and still rose to the occasion. Heck, my dad came in when the last of the draftees were still around and he deployed to Iraq after I did, not to mention everything in between.

Whoa whoa whoa, social security? You trying to incite some kinda geriatric proletarian uprising, pinko? We’ll have to call it the December revolution, and there’ll be up-armored hoverounds overwatching every street corner. They’ll own the night because old people don’t need to really sleep, they just doze off for a little while midday and they’re good to go. The only time we’ll be safe is 4:00 pm when they’re all eating dinner.

            1. Don’t ever remember using that BPED acronym, had to look it up, we’d usually just call it our initial entry date because I think that’s what it says on the ERB. Wasn’t really that important of a date at the time as I recall. Mine was 8 Sep 2004, and I was a 19K M1 Abrams crewman. Deployed to Iraq with 3d Armored Cav 2005-2006, was set to ETS in early 2009 but came back from terminal leave and enlisted in the reserves to ride out my inactive reserve commitment because they were calling people back up for bonus deployments at the time, did some school and served as an ops NCO in G3 for an MP/Engineer/Chemical training division at Leonard Wood and got fully out in 2012. Working in the building products industry since then, keep thinking about losing the civvy gut and going back in before I’m too old cause it’s getting close and I’m pretty bored.

            2. @Perkele, Well … you express yourself oddly, but you are making it very difficult not to like you.

            3. @wild bill
Slow couple days at work, and I guess I’m used to getting into little internet tiffs in less polite/serious digital company. All in good fun though. At least I managed not to use any swear words. Except fart, my mom considered fart a swear word. But she’s not here, so she can’t stop me.

Also perkele is a Finnish swear word.

      3. Thank you Perkele,
My son is a Millenial and is very far from being a Socialist. I work for the US Army as a Civilian and am a Retired Vet. I observe most of these young people, who also tend to bend far to the Right and are mostly progun. Many of us tend to forget the Hippy’s and the young Communists/Protesters (called College Students at that time), of the 1960’s and 1970’s. They were AntiFa times 10 as far as being the initial destroyers of the American Culture, that same culture that made this Nation wealthy and great. It just is getting far worse today, probably due mostly to the efforts of those former 1960-70 era Communists, who now control the news media, large corporations, the College Professors, School officials, Legislators and etc. The efforts by the Communists and other leftists have been going on for a very long time.

      4. @Perkele… I will just say you should have had to walk through airports like LA when us Nam Vets were returning home . Remember we had no choice we were drafted unless you ran to a foreign country like Clinton did.

        1. The old farts thing was just a joke, in real life I have nothing but respect for older people, they deserve it until proven otherwise. The only thing out of the ordinary that I experienced coming through an airport in uniform was older people thanking me for my service. I appreciated the gesture, and I’m sorry you guys were given such a hard time by those fools. The truth I was trying to point out is that it’s not correct to blame an entire generation for the idiots among it and the damage they have wrought, whether it’s your generation or mine.

    6. We really need a constitutionalist president and not one that wavers. I voted for President Trump but he is starting to concern me. The bump stock issue means nothing to me because I dont care about them but making them illegal and you need to destroy it or turn it in without compensation is illegal and wrong and turning the person that did not comply into a felon is communist. Saying I’m going to close the boarder and then not doing it is just like obummers red line. If he continues this trend and we wind up with anyone that says they are Republican running against him and we have two people to vote for at the same time we will loose and that will destroy the country because the demoncraps will rule.

      1. @MM44…Would you rather hiLAIRy was elected ? I would have to believe Jack Booted Thugs would be knocking on doors by now . And yes Bernie was the experiment to see how many could be duped and would have turned hiLAIRy loose.

    7. Simply stated, socialism is gateway drug to totalitarianism government.

Totalitarianism is a political concept of a mode of government that prohibits opposition parties, restricts individual opposition to the state and its claims, and exercises an extremely high degree of control over public and private life. It is regarded as the most extreme and complete form of authoritarianism. (Wikipedia)

Advocation of socialism violates his oath of office, even though Sanders claims his form is democratic socialism. He fails to remember, or more likely cares less, our form of government is a Republic.

It is clear Sanders is advocating overthrowing our system of American Jurisprudence, as such, he should be tried for sedition!

    8. Last time I checked Peron was a Fascist who idolized Mussolini and Hitler, and made Argentina into a Nazi save haven. How again is he a socialist now, Professor?

      1. NAZI is a acronym for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (English: National-Socialist German Workers’ Party) looks like it is right there in the name.
As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. The word derives from fasces, the Roman symbol of collectivism and power: a tied bundle …

      2. Ritne Burso, From your comment, it is clear that you do not understand what Fascism, Nazism and Socialism really are. They are not opposites. All three are different interpretations of Marxist ideology. For your edification:,

All are very much related, all are dangerous and all result in national economic and socio-political failure.

      3. NAZI = National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP)

Hitler and Mussolini were Fascists. One of the many lies we are taught is that Fascism is RIGHT WING!! Well, Fascism is the Right Wing of the left. It has little to nothing to do with what our Founders set up or the Republican Party or even the older Democrat Party. Fascism and Socialism/Communuism have little to differentiate themselves. They are both authoritarian and expanionist when implemented. Fascism in practice was associated with a strong Nationalist theme to unite the people. We see the same with socialist/Communist states in practice.

I would also point out that American socialist/Commies were fully supportive of Hitler, Mussolini, and Fascism until Hitler attacked their Papa Joe Stalin hero who had recently starved tens of thousands of his good socialist citizens to death.

Interestingly Hitler hated Jews (semites), but, was willing to accept the rest of Middle Easterners (many of them Semites) as part of his Aryan master race as they also hated Jews. Of course, that could have just been a temporary thing until he had all under his control…

Peron’s policies are socialist just as Stalin, Mao, Mussolini and Hitler’s were. Y’all must have gone to college for indoctrination to believe otherwise.

“Peronism is widely regarded as a form of corporate socialism, or “right-wing socialism”.”

        1. @KK, Yep, If I remember correctly Mussolini was even Time magazine’s “Man of the Year” at one time. He fed the Itallians “I’ll give you something for nothing!” , and became the darling of the left world wide … for awhile.

    9. These Teachers & Professors won’t ,
Like the Government taking control of ,
Schools & Colleges & Their Socialist Wages !
Wich can’t even compare to what they get now !
They’ll Get what they Deserve , Alot Less Money !
They Need to be Careful what they Wish For .
