Perhaps it’s time to support another organization who’s concerns are the protection of everyone’s rights regarding the 2A. The National
Association of Gun Rights is extremely active in keeping track of all legislation purposed and introduced regarding firearms at the State
and National level. I’m a life member of the NRA and have become disenchanted over the last few years with the direction, goals, and
decisions of the NRA Executive Board.

Wake up NRA. I joined GOA

Became an NRA member in the early.60’s and for well over a decade have been a Benefactor Life Member. My concern is a simple one, when will the politicians & especially the NRA learn that “shall not be infringed” does not mean “may be negotiated or compromised”! I have retained my membership hoping my voting will promote a change of leadership at the NRA! However, for several years now I no longer contribute one penny to this organization & won’t again until the current leadership is gone. GOA & SAF now receive my financial support! The members of NRA are… Read more »

I am a Benefactor Life Member of the NRA. I oppose any gun law that does not remove current infringements of our rights, protected, not granted, by the Constitution of the United States. I’m giving serious consideration to running for the Board of Directors of the NRA. Can I count on your support?

Ronald ` Renken

yes

Glenn Smith

Ghery, You have my support. I am an Endowment Member. I have no intention of turning on the NRA I will continue to voice my displeasure at their lack of spine in fighting for our rights. I too have a philosophy of no compromise. The Second Amendment is the only Gun law we need, anything else is an infringement.

JOHN LAKEY

May I ask you to consider reading what Gun Owners of America are doing for us? I have read their webpage and have decided to let my NRA membership lapse and expire. I will join Gun Owners of America

Gregory Romeu

Fuck the NRA!no
As for my, Life Membership? I have been married and divorced before. Just a cheaper whore to let go of.
With the money we are all paying into the NRA we could ALL get screwed for much cheaper at the Whorehouses in Nevada and still have MILLIONS left over!
The world will move forward and our 2nd Amenspent rights will remain in place as long as we have patriots with backbone!

My money and alegience is going to the GOA and 2nd Amendment Foundation.

Rick Rewerts

That’s unfortunate.

Trump’s directed ATF edict on bump-stocks, I see as his tossing a bone to the anti-gun rights. His statement concerning “red flag law, I hope was made without thought. However, the NRA supports both, if not even recommending. This along with the financial problems and faux election indicates serious misdirection of our NRA. Apparently, it is beyond immediate repair. The Board is disregarding the general membership except for donations. An organization can not function if its directors oppose the membership and its purpose. Squandering funds definitely will not help in success. I suggest stop giving money, including membership dues, and… Read more »

MikeRoss

Forget the conspiracy theories, the NRA has a serious problem. People saying the complaints are being made by the NRA’s enemies are allowing the problems to continue, and if they do the NRA will be finished. Sticking our heads in the sand and hoping the corruption goes away isn’t going to work, it has to be addressed. $40 million a year going to Ackerman McQueen, with no accounting of how it’s spent, is ridiculous. No organization would put up with that, there’s no telling how much is being siphoned off. Questions about this were first asked 20 years ago and… Read more »

NRA – If you wish to remain – Get the hell out of New York! LaP can drive a little farther. Quit all the wine lists and bullshit. Put the money into advertising in BLUE states and mainstream media. Quit preaching to the choir and asking for more money that is then wasted. Explain to the masses what your plan is to remedy this cluster F. Make salaries realistic. Reduce the number of board members. Quit urinalizing (pissing away) our hard earned money!

Bob Kerr

No, I don’t like the way the NRA is being managed. However, I agree, they still are the big boy on the block and I still need to be informed and have them lobby for the 2A. However, being retired an on the old “Fixed Income”, and knowing how much these managers are making and spending on themselves out of my dues and donations, I will keep my membership but I will NOT be adding any additional monetary support, nor will I give them a pass on supporting “Red Flag” Laws. I would suggest, just food for thought, flooding the… Read more »

I agree with JDC. Now is not a time to abandon the NRA, of which I have been a member since the early 1950s and presently am a Patron Life member. I do not claim to know the inner workings of the organization and at times I am a bit mystified by all the adverse comments about the NRA from shooting enthusiasts. This is not to say I disagree with them, but I have to wonder if there’s some “hip-shooting” going on. I’d like to see a compendium of justifiable grievances against the NRA. One thing is for certain; The… Read more »

I am concerned that we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Organizations have highs and lows…NRA is definitely at a low point. First it needs a board of directors reform. 7-12 people run a normal corporate board. They provide active oversight and work well. 76 is just too many people…how can members effectively investigate and vet those people. (They can’t).Likewise, how do 76 people actually provide oversight? (They evidently don’t). Still, I worry that too many are attacking the organization which needs reform, but also is the largest gun owners group. The 2A needs everyone we can get… Read more »

George Washington didn’t have the NRA and he didn’t do too bad!

Chuck

To each his or her own. Should the NRA accidentally do something positive for me in the future I’ll be thankful and appreciative, but I will also recognize it as simple good luck and an accidental collateral benefit that happened to coincide with and result from the self serving behavior of the NRA “leadership.”

There is nothing to be gained by continuing to try to work with our “leadership” or by continuing the public disagreement … it is time to move on.

Jim

You guys who ignore the significant issues in the NRA has in the name of “we must be unified” do so at the peril of our rights as secured by the 2A. It is not healthy to give unqualified support to an organization such as this while ignoring very real issues in the organization and failing to hold it accountable.

The fact that LaPierre and Cox were unanimously re-elected is indicative of some very real issues, and we can’t afford to ignore them. I wonder how many abstained from voting.

JPM

Of course they were elected unanimously, LaPierre has controlled who is president, who is on the board and every aspect of the NRA for decades and amassed a level of power that can’t be broken by the toadies and sycophants LaPierre placed in office. When anyone on the inside attempts to remove him or reduce his level of control, as with Oliver North, LaPierre simply removes them and replaces them with someone easier to control. The elections of NRA board members are rigged and votes are a joke. If you think national politics with all its checks and balances is… Read more »

REMARKABLE that those who benefit from the thoroughgoing work the NRA accomplishes gripe about receiving mail that asks for a contribution to underwrite those efforts — the the recipient of the mail often does not respond to while also not joining with others to a) meet with local elected officials, b) write letters to local/state/national elected officials, c) demonstrate their @A fortitude by attending local and other governmental meetings where they might speak up to defend the 2A and/or the NRA or their statewide NRA affiliate organization, and d) do not contribute their time, expertise, or money to support the… Read more »

Whatever Fudd, go peddle your nonsense where someone might actually believe you. NRA = For the Gun Control Act of 1968, for the Brady Bill, for the Bump Stock ban. Shall I go on, Fudd, or do you get the message?

Freebird

Its like the N.R.A. has moles inside TRYING to bring it down ( and OUR 2 – A with it )
The old line — ” Watch what they DO, not what they say ” , fits here.

NRA admits it ” works closely ” with A.T.F. …… after support for Bump-Stock confiscations and weak pushback on RED Laws , it looks like NRA is an unofficial branch of Deep State.

freewill

Moles got in when the rules were changed to allow 5 year members to vote

tomcat

@ freewill I have to disagree with your stance on “paid memberships”. Anyone who has enough interest and has laid down their money should have all the rights a life member has. I have been a member for many years but I have never been enticed to take the plunge to a life member. My main reason for this is the problems that Negotiating Rights Away has had over the years. They have been in one scrape after another, in other words running rough shod over the membership. I do not support King LaPierre or his lackies. Now I can… Read more »

Thank God for Wayne and Chris. Good representation costs real money. They are worth every penny they are paid. The NRA Board know what it is doing. Don’t think there is no oversight of the conduct of Wayne and Chris. They may not be perfect, but they are better than any alternative I have seen. All of the negative comments on this site remind me of people sitting in the back second guessing those working hard to preserve our First and Second Amendment rights. What more is there to say? The NRA Board did the right thing.

“To 5.5 million men on a deserted island even an old fat whore with aids would look good after a while.”

Rick

Like many others I read the reports of alleged corruption (primarily from leftist organizations) within the NRA. Having supported and trusted the NRA to stand up for my 2nd amendment rights for over 20 years I have great concern for the integrity of the organization. My biggest concern is that in light of all of the controversy and allegations the NRA has not offered up any explanation to it’s supporters. I agree that we need to stand together and not allow this “situation” to divide and conquer. Perhaps it’s time to drain the swamp. What say you NRA?

Wild Bill

@Rick, No employee at the NRA seems to be answerable to the membership. Will we ever get an explanation? Does anyone have a wire diagram organization chart of the NRA?

Keith Gouverneur

The Marxists who continuously work against our freedoms have now finessed a very effective “Divide And Conquer” little effort here. It’s very transparent.
Our Revolution was first and foremost a war against the Tories- it was won.
We shall also prevail against the enemies of the Second
masquerading as Patriots.
For those that find the NRA so egregious BE GONE.

Realist

The NRA is the only so called pro gun organization which promoted and supported the reclassification of a piece of plastic being a machine gun? Great work????

tomcat

@ Kieth Gouverneur and Don How many times does someone, you pay money to, get to kick you in the backside before you say they are wrong? Actually, both of you sound like you work for LaPierre. Do you get to spend your working time fighting the voice of paying members?

Wild Bill

@KG, I don’t think anyone is creating a “Divide And Concuer ” (sic) effort. Some people are not happy with the NRA’s political stands; results; employees; salaries; costs, and non-responsiveness. And those same people are finding out that there is no way to change the organization to be more responsive to the membership.
As far as be gone, I have paid for a life time of voting and magazines. So I am going to collect my magazines and cast my votes, but all my donations are going to go to Second Amendment Civil Rights organizations.

No more $$$ to NRA …. NO longer a NRA member after many, many years of membership. Let’s go back to 1968, Down hill from there! GOA is the best option for gun owner’s…..Mike

Bruce Dzamba

GOA is small potatoes next to the NRA!

Ben

It won’t be if all the lazy gun owners got off their butts and joined. NRA made its own bed. Did the libs make up the fact that the NRA supports red flags and bump stock bans???

James Brigham (Bigg) Bunyon

Maybe so, but I and those in my family whom I pay their NRA dues, will not be rejoining. We’re supporting the GOA and 2nd Amendment Foundation. If the NRA does good work then they’ll be doing it without my help.
There comes a time when you have to do what you think is right even if it has little real world effect other than in my own little reality.

Michael Maus

Same here. I and my family are gone from the NRA. Everyone of us, all 15 brothers, sisters one aunt, three uncle’s.. All have went to GOA. Oh, we are ALL active or retired USMC. Let someone call us unpatriotic!

Harold Wayne Price

I have not been a lifelong member as some, and I will not renew my membership. No matter what is right and what is wrong,Wayne LaPierre and his cohorts do nothing to earn the ridiculous salary he receives. Wonder which side these folks will be on when the money runs out and the SHTF!

John

Just another cluster of politicians doing what they do. Truly sad. Now the organization will rot at an increased rate.

Spurs6

I don’t know all the details as the conservative media isn’t talking much and the lib-tard media is not to be trusted. However, I am disappointed that we are not calling for a general and thorough audit of ALL accounts and cash flow. Mr. Cotton, I am especially disappointed in you as you have the knowledge and stroke to fix this.
We need the NRA but we need it to be squeaky clean and not fighting amongst itself.

Doogie

I read these posts every day, agreeing with some and not agreeing with others. God bless this Nation which gives us the freedom to disagree and still co exist.
I am a life Patron member and was surprised/shocked to see that no one was voted out. I think it is time to pull the plug and send my money to other gun rights organizations who have the energy and passion the NRA used to have.

Rokflyer

@WB me also, as a life member, I won’t jump ship on a whim or be influenced by naysayers. But I have some questions, it’s perfectly natural, as a responsible adult to have questions. And, to expect answers

Wild Bill

I would like to read some explanations from current board of directors as to why they voted for Wayne LaPierre.

joefoam

Myself included. If you visit this website it’s very apparent that the membership is not happy with current leadership. The BOD ignored the membership and voted to retain them. Reminds me of Pelosi and her gang of democrats.

Dubi Loo

Me too, but I seriously doubt it will ever happen. My biggest beef is being ignored by those who spend MY money.

How much does Soros pay people to go online and comment negatively about the NRA?

Keith Gouverneur

My compliments Sir! You got it right. As the Great Ben Franklin famously said: “We either hang TOGETHER or hang
separately” ‘Tis a great American tradition this infighting-a product of our freedom and to an extent the natural quarelousness of the American spirit- However this discourse only aids our enemies.
I also suspect that some of those who treaten to take their contributions elsewhere speak loudly and carry no sticks at all.

Gregory Romeu

@Keith Gouverneur,
You’re welcome to come and look at my stick ANYTIME you want!

Papa Bear

Glad to see others are catching on to the “False Flag Op.” going on. Unfortunately some of our members are buying into this Bullshit.

Bruce Dzamba

All the smaller pro-gun groups have their place but the NRA is the big boy on the block and the group most hated by our enemies! Become a voting member, VOTE, or STFU and stop giving fodder to the anti-gunners about us!

Wesman78

Yeah keep wasting our money on people who support our enemies in negotiating our rights away? Great strategy numb nuts, I’m going to support organizations that actually use the funds we give them to PRESERVE our rights! The NRA is about funding themselves not about preserving the 2nd amendment, look at what they do not what they say. I’m not going to be fooled into supporting them because they have the biggest voice, I’m going to support the ones who have the right message.

Gregory Romeu

Donttreadonme

I disagree. There are countless gun owners that sick and tired of the “compromise”that the NRA keeps offering up. Not going through history on what they have supported, but just recently they supported the bump stock ban, and the red flag laws that are clearly unconstitutional as they bypass our due process. They seem to only put their efforts behind states that are already largely red, while they leave blue states to fend for themselves. I agree. The NRA is not perfect, no doubt; many organizations such as this aren’t. However, with the onslaught by anti-gun, anti-rights organizations, politicians, and billionaires, we must hold together and not show any cracks in the armor. Dear Sir! I See that you too see clearly within this kerfuffle.
From our dear Republic’s founding there has never been a shortage of those who would choose to fight their fellow Patriots over internal politics than the REAL enemies of Freedom. I shall Pray to the Allmighty that those of my fellow Patriots who “Choose to take their money elsewhere”
Indeed follow through. The cause remains the same.

Wesman78

So because you don’t need a bump stock and think that a red flag gun confiscation will never happen to you, you will choose to ignore the corruption inside the NRA and the misappropriation of funds? Wow I’m disappointed that you don’t realize that people that are willing to negotiate your rights away don’t now become the enemy?! My main objection to this whole situation is the salaries. It doesn’t equate and we have all been the stupid to support
Please find a group to form a new organization to stand for 2nd amendment.

Wild Bill

@WF, Forming a new alternatives to the NRA would be fine, but there are already some other very effective alternatives out there, to include: Gun Owners of America, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership; and many others on the state level. Just pick one.

Bill

State level organizations are good because they are local, but weak because they are divided and sometimes in conflict with each other and other pro-gun organizations. Divided already, so easier to conquer. Still, their presence is a good thing, as long as they coexist with stronger organizations. Merely for example, what does a pro-gun organization specific to Wyoming do for a suffering and battered pro-gun organization in New Jersey? I can’t answer that question.

No Bull

There are plenty of other groups that have been formed to protect the Second Amendment. Don’t like the salaries? Get behind a local volunteer-run organization. Join them in spending their time on the cause or send them a few bucks to help cover expenses. Find thee ones that don’t walk lockstep with NRA. Ohioans for Concealed Carry is one such group. They work tirelessly beating back encroachment by anti-gunners at the local level from municipality to city to state.

BILL

And there is your proof the the Democrats are now running that bunch of thieves. They’re acting just like them.

Anyone wanting to become a new member of the NRA just sign up for Liberty associate for $10 a year… I have to sign up to join a shooting range club because of their insurance policy.. that way the NRA can add many new members.. and they will have a leaner budget.. then they will not waste money especially on magazines publications..

The NRA is drowning in debt, yet LaPierre is drawing a salary of $1.4 million a year with a $4 million golden parachute retirement, and he has a clause that will allow him to be a paid speaker for the NRA after he retires at $1.4 million a year. Wayne LaPierre is only interested in helping Wayne LaPierre. He doesn’t care about the membership of the NRA. He isn’t a gun advocate, he is a politician!
