Ruger Introduces New Security-9 Compact Pistol

U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE-RGR) is proud to introduce a new, compact version of the popular Security-9 pistol. Smaller, lighter and more concealable than its full-size counterpart, the Security-9 Compact is ideal for everyday carry with an overall length of 6.5” and weighing in at just under 22 ounces. The attractive price point of both the full-size and compact models will have you wanting one of each.

The Security-9 Compact ships with two, 9mm Luger, 10-round, flush-fit steel magazines, which provide for greater concealability. Also included is one finger grip extension floorplate for added control. Extended, 15-round magazines are also available for purchase at ShopRuger.com.

The Security-9 family shares the same Secure Action used in the LCP II, which is derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP fire control system. The Secure Action combines the smooth trigger pull of the LCP with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single-action. Additional safety features include an integrated trigger safety; external manual safety; neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension; and hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.

The American-made Security-9 Compact is constructed around a rigid, precision-machined, hard-coat anodized aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails and a blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel. Identical to the full-size model, this pistol also features eye-catching sights, a textured grip frame and an easy-to-rack slide.

Some people whine about the manual safety. It’s pretty simple. If you don’t like it, set the safety to FIRE and carry or don’t buy one. I have a 3 and 5 year old and I don’t want a gun in the house without a manual safety. That’s just one more layer of protection when it comes to an exploring child. I have the full size security 9 and I love it. I’m tempted to buy the smaller version as well.

Larrys Pistol and Pawn in Madson and Huntsville, Alabama has the new compacts for $299. Started today, so they may all be gone already.

I own and shoot a Glock 19. It’s just sweet. I was at the range a while back, and my buddy had the security 9. Never seen one before, at least up close. He let me run some rounds at the range, wow. I was impressed. I thought I was shooting my Glock. And again, wow. Before I left the range, I went into the store and bought one. Great gun.

When will there be more parts available for the Security 9 compact version?

James Prange

Where can I get the steel center with 20 pound spring for my Security 9?

As a lefty, myself, we just learn to adapt. I love my Security 9. It is not modified for my use, being left handed, but it’s such a great gun. Would buy it again.

I have a full sized security 9 and a taurus G2C and tend to carry my Ruger more often even though it is bigger. It fits my hand well and as a woman, it is quite managable. I would love to try shooting the compact just bc I already am a fan of Rugers in general.

$299 at Academy for full size love my Security 9

Roy

I like my SR9C as compared to this new gun. The SR9C has ambidextrous mag releases and I can carry 10 rounds or 17 if I so choose. No need to buy two guns for this option.

B-jamin

Did they fix the plastic shaft on the center spring yet? If not I would recommend you upgrade w/ steel and a 20 lb spring. Much better recoil for $30.

James Prange

I have a Security 9, love it. Where can I get the steel and 20 lb. spring?

Gonna be hard to compete against Taurus’s G2C now that they’re offering a rebate with the already low price.

Poor man’s Sig P365? Not too shabby, seems to me.

Ken

Someone always has to go with the “Poor” comment. The full-size one is a nice for sure, as you get a lot for your money. I have one and love it.

Kenney

Very interested

Bill

Same MSRP as the 4 inch Security-9, $379.00

Jon Gunnels

Recvd email flyer from RKGuns with intro price of $319.99. Was excited until I found a right hand only manual safety. Another waste of time for a left handed shooter.

Donny Vaquero

Lefthand friendly?

RMS1911

$379 MSRP

Mac

Rual King has these advertised for $319.00 until gone..

R L Diehl

And what are eye-catching sights? White dot, night sights or..?

Mario Gallardo

The Ruger Security 9 at about $ 215 will be more then a pleasure to own and carry. Take it to the indoor range you will be pleased.

Marty

I got mine about a month ago its sweet price point 300 or under.

rick

Nice, was considering the American 9mm compact but this is like $120 less and weighs 8oz less. All the reviews for the sec 9 are good..alot of people love them…glad they have come out with a shorter barrel version…wish they would show a pic with the pinky ext.

Rob

Not bad. Give me that pinky extension and I’m good to go.

tomcat

” The attractive price point” well what is the price? The gun looks good and it is all metal but cost is always a factor.

Brandon

360 to 400. From rugers website.

Anthony King

EXACTLY

RMS1911

$379 msrp

Eric

Not all metal. Aluminum chassis under a polymer frame with steel slide and barrel, like the full size version. MSRP on the full size is roughly $375 but can be had for about $300 through several online retailers and local shops.

Tony Rogers

Nearest dealer and price? Very interested.

Paul

Rural King Guns has them for $319.99 w/ $12.99 shipping flat rate on firearms. No FFA transfer fee in store purchase.

Eric

Look it up on Gun Genie
Local dealers and their prices. Although the compact version may not show up yet. You can get the full size version for around 300 bucks. Compact one should be the same.

Rover

I like my Glock 43 much more, with extended mag
