Home Invader Shot After Attacking Woman With Sledge Hammer & Wooden Chair

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- 23 ABC News Bakersfield reports 06-21-19 in Bakersfield, California, a local man attacked a woman with a sledge hammer and wooden chair during a home invasion earlier this month, according to documents released by Kern County Sheriff's Office on Friday.

KCSO say deputies were dispatched to a home near the corner of College Avenue and Montello Street the morning of June 5 for an active burglary, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment investigation.

When officials arrived, they discovered a 33-year-old had reportedly forced himself through the home's back door and attacked the female victim with a sledgehammer and wooden chair.

The intended victim shot the intruder once in his lower body with a gun she grabbed from a safe. It was also noted that the intruder took the victim's gun and cellphone while she was on the phone with 911.

The victim sustained a small scratch on her left arm and declined medical aid. The perp was treated for his gunshot wound and taken into custody at the Central Receiving Facility.

When asked why he had attacked the victim, he told police that this “person had did something bad” and he just had to know.

Police reports reveal that the perp is the cousin of the victim's husband and is allegedly in love with her.

Prior to the June 5 incident, the victim filed a restraining order against the intruder after he allegedly harassed her in front of her five children, niece and family friends. Several children were in the home at the time of the attack.

When asked why she had never served the 33-year-old the restraining order, she allegedly told officials that she didn't want to cause problems with her husband's family who told her that the intruder is “crazy” and needed medication.

The intruder has pled not guilty to first degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, willful cruelty to child, false imprisonment with violence, and carrying a concealed weapon. He is due back in court on July 9.

Comments:

Another apparent mental case attacks a woman he “loves”. The failure to file the restraining order was a mistake. Sometimes these don’t help but they do establish evidence of prior problems.

This appears to be a clearly valid shooting in most any jurisdiction. Unfortunately, where it happed is not most any jurisdiction, it’s California. My CA Attorney guest Donald J. Green thinks the victim here certainly needs to have a good criminal defense lawyer engaged.

Another example of “thank you democrats” since she had to go to a safe, open it, retrieve the gun before she could protect her self. Two known facts in the state of khalifornia. They do not want citizens shooting these scumbags because they need the scumbags democrat vote and every legislature has their guns and or body guards all paid for by the taxpayers. Their motto “what is good for me is not for thee”

Kern COunty, where this happened, is pretty gun friendly. I doubt any charges will be filed.

I find it amusing that she retrieved her gun “from the safe”….. either the perp was really slow moving, or the safe wasnot fully locked. Either way, her claim regarding the safe is a good move, as Califonria DO have some nasty gun storage mandates, particularly when children are around. So, they can’t even think of pinning that one on her.

SO much for trying to make nice “for the family” in not serving the restraining order.

Several safes on the market that are activated by fingerprint, finger press buttons and a key as backup.

PROVIDED the power isn’t out or the batteries aren’t weak or dead . . . . then YOU might be dead. Want to live? ELIMINATE NEEDLESS COMPLICATIONS AND GADGETS. Period.

CA also has requirements to keep firearms locked up when not on your person and kids are in the home.

And that’s less useful than a stick of stove wood.

I want to argue with you and say you are overreacting, you know why I don’t? You’re not overreacting! He will kill her out of revenge or because of some twisted mentally ill fantasy, I just hope she can get the gun out of the safe and fire a fatal shot before he has a chance to make her a statistic or her kids orphans.
