Hunting On The QT: The CZ 527 American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready Rifle

CZ-USA’s CZ 527 American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready rifle is part of the 527 line of lighter-weight, agile centerfires. Now, you can enjoy the 527 with an all-weather stock and make your shooting hear safe.

The smallest of CZ-USA’s centerfire platforms, the CZ 527 has won more awards in European “light rifle” categories than any other rifle. Ever. Designed specifically for small-base centerfire calibers, all CZ 527’s come standard with a controlled round feed, a detachable single-stack steel magazine, a cold-hammer-forged barrel, and integral 16mm dovetails.

No wonder so many people believe the CZ 527 is the ultimate small-caliber platform.

The CZ 527 American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready rifle is available in four calibers–.223 Rem., 6.5 Grendel, 300 BLK, and 7.62×39. All caliber models have a nifty 16.5-inch barrel, threaded at 5/8×24 for a suppressor or muzzle brake.

The 527 Suppressor-Ready uses a true micro-length Mauser push-feed action for dependable cycling on the bolt in all conditions and efficient ejecting of spent brass.

The 527’s synthetic stock shrugs off wet and extreme weather conditions, while the stock’s surface has a tactile feel for first-rate control of the rifle. Sling studs are mounted fore and aft on the stock and a synthetic rubber butt pad helps disperse recoil.

The 527 American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready rifle is at home on the range pinging steel or in the field in pursuit of medium-sized game, including hogs and deer. Equipped with a suppressor and using sub-sonic loads, the rifle becomes one quiet plinker–the perfect set up for introducing new people to the shooting sports.

Like all CZ 527’s, the Suppressor-Ready uses the CZ Single Set Trigger or SST. The SST allows for both a standard hunting trigger and a light target trigger in the same rifle. In regular use, the SST trigger is in the “standard” mode with the heavier of the two trigger pulls. But, by simply pushing the trigger forward until it clicks, the crisp, light target trigger mode is set. The standard trigger is adjustable for weight, creep and overtravel. The set target trigger function is only adjustable for weight but always breaks like glass.

For those who want most of these features except the suppressor threading? There’s the CZ 527 American Synthetic with no muzzle threads, chambered in .223 Rem. with a 21.9-inch barrel.

Plus, the 527 was always my favorite prior to this. The ultimate all-purpose sub 200m round, 300bo, or 7.62×39 to complement my aks are both decisions that I despise. Oh my!

So this is really a recycled article with the date changed? The byline says “Ammoland Inc. Posted on August 25, 2023 by AmmoLand Editor Duncan Johnson“. But I see a comment below mine by ej harbet that says it’s 4 years old!! That would actually make sense, because the current CZ-USA website says these were discontinued in 2021!! Ammoland, try and find something pertinent and still accurate, please. I hope you didn’t pay Duncan Johnson too much to drag up an OLD, INACCURATE, USELESS article about an rifle that is NO LONGER MANUFACTURED. I’ve been looking for a 527 in 7.62X39 and you got… Read more »

Boom

Push feed? Huh?

DDS

Push feed vs controlled feed is one of those quasi religious debates some of us gun people get in to. Kinda like 9mm vs .45ACP.

If the extractor snaps over the rim before the round quite leaves the magazine, and the round is thereby semi-attached to the bolt as it shoves the round into the chamber, it’s controlled feed. Otherwise, it’s push feed.

Mauser 98, Springfield 03, pre-1964 Win M70 are controlled feed. Post-1964 Win. M70 and Rem 700 are push feed.

I’ll let the Zealots on both sides explain the nitty gritty details.

I’m confused.

On the CZ-USA site it says DISCONTINUED 2021

CZ 527 American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready – Discontinued 2021 – CZ-USA

as do all the 527 models

CZ 527 Carbine RusticDiscontinued 2017.

CZ 527 American RusticDiscontinued 2017.

CZ 527 American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready – Discontinued 2021
CZ 527 Youth Carbine — Discontinued 2018
CZ 527 Carbine – Discontinued 2021
CZ 527 American – Discontinued 2021
perhaps that’s why the Live Inventory Price Checker above doesn’t list any 527’s.

JWalt

According to the CZ website, it was discontinued in 2019

JWalt

Ummm… Discontinued in 2019

OlTrailDog

Nice rifle. Unfortunately, you need to re-barrel to make it useful in 6mm ARC.

Ej harbet

And i always liked the 527 before this. Hate decisions,7.62×39 to go with my aks or 300bo the ultimate all purpose sub 200m round. Aghh
