U.S. Congressman’s Bill to Kill International Hunting to Receive Hearing

Congressman Grijalva’s bill is a disaster for conservation, hunting and the economies of many impoverished nations that depend on the expenditures of American hunters to fund conservation, stop poaching, and even provide a basic income for local people where hunting occurs.

Washington, DC – -(AmmoLand.com)- A powerful House Committee Chairman is trying to eliminate lion and elephant hunting, ban importation of species that could be endangered or threatened in the future, and eliminate input from stakeholder groups that support conservation and hunting.

House Resolution 2245, sponsored by Congressman Raul M. Grijalva (D-AZ), chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, is scheduled for a hearing on July 18 in the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Power and Oceans at 10 a.m. in room 1324 in the capitol building.

Take Action Today! Sportsmen need to contact their member of Congress and ask them to vote NO on HR 2245. Sportsmen can find their member’s contact information by using the Sportsmen’s Alliance Legislative Action Center Directory.

HR 2245 would:

  • Prohibit the importation of any lion or elephant taken in Tanzania, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
  • Ban importation permits for trophies of any species listed or even proposed to be listed as endangered or threatened, regardless of their benefit to the recovery of a species.
  • Eliminate the International Wildlife Conservation Council, an advisory group representing conservation experts, hunting organizations and federal government agencies that advise the Secretary of Interior on issues including anti-poaching programs, wildlife trafficking, and efforts to increase awareness of the conservation and economic benefits of United States citizens traveling to foreign nations to engage in hunting.

“Congressman Grijalva’s bill is a disaster for conservation, hunting and the economies of many impoverished nations that depend on the expenditures of American hunters to fund conservation, stop poaching, and even provide a basic income for local people where hunting occurs. His obsession with banning hunting will actually harm endangered and threatened wildlife.”

“He is trying to single handedly ban international hunting, and he doesn’t want any input from affected stakeholders or range countries about the impact of this horrible legislation,” said Bruce Tague vice president of government affairs for Sportsmen’s Alliance.

Congressman Grijalva is a past recipient of the Humane Society of the United States’ (HSUS) Humane Champion Award and has received a perfect score from HSUS every year since 2005. He is a frequent carrier of HSUS-authored animal-rights legislation.

These anti-hunters had gotten hunting stopped before and it was reported that poachers killed more animals than trophy hunters ever would. Question is would (HSUS) Humane Society of the United States pay out the money that these hunters bring in to support the people of these villages and encourage them to stop poaching? IMOA HSUS or any other anti-hunting group wouldn’t spend the money. Perhaps an anti-hunter group member will prove me wrong?

Raul M. Grijalva has never been known for anything but pandering to the corrupt people in Arizona. His family has been living off Pima County taxpayers for generations and it is time to flush the toilet and get rid of him.

leftists let their feelings to control their actions. while feelings are good to have you should not let them control you. everything leftists do is virtue signal their feelings, slick willy Clinton was among the best with his favorite saying “I feel your pain”. only thing is their feelings do nothing to fix the issues it only makes them worse. pick any issue and see if what I say is correct,

Sadly, even states like Arizona cannot keep idiots and morons from being elected by idiots and morons. When the electorate has been “dumbed down” to the point of lacking any logic or common sense, much less the ability to form original thought and ideas, it’s time to look at changing the process of what it takes to allow someone to run for election, much less serve in the Congress or Senate. An I.Q. test might be something to consider. The same for being able to vote.

@ Will Where the h— did Texas get this Al Green the congressman? He looks like a homeless they took from under a bridge, put a suit on him and sent him to Washington, pony tail and all. He even acts like a homeless from under a bridge.

If IQ becomes the determining factor in these issues, the leftists will see that questions like “do you believe in God or Creation or deny AGW” will be included in the test. The “wrong” answer will disqualify you. Civics needs to be put back in the schools, but even that is likely to be distorted by leftists agendas.

This is an example of half baked ideology guiding half truths to generate public policy. Grijalva is a life long communist. No surprises here.

The safari industry feeds quite a few people who otherwise wouldn’t eat.people who are of a different race than grivalja!
That makes him a racist in my book.

24and7

That’s the perception that most people have.. that hunting is a majority White male sporting activity.. that’s why Democrats are attacking it.. maybe one day the white male will wake up and put a stop to it..

The professional hunting guides that lead these safaris are native to the countries they are working in. The meat harvested is used to feed the small villages in the country the animals are harvested. Would you put these guides out of work, and take food away from theses villages just because the moron Raul thinks he is relevant? He is NOT! He is however a racist, he only supports the Latino race.
