USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- In the continuing NRA Board conflict, yesterday Richard Childress, former NASCAR driver and the current team owner of Richard Childress Racing released his NRA Board of Director resignation letter to NRA President Carolyn D. Meadows.

Childress was at one time was on track to be a future NRA president, but with the spring 2019 resignation as NRA President by Oliver North and the shake-up of the NRA Board Executive Team, those succession plans were undone.

Childress stated the following on his ability to serve on the NRA board “[when] I am no longer able to fully engage in any commitment I have made, it becomes time for me to step down. I have reached that point in my ability to continue to serve the NRA. As such I must resign.”

It is unclear who will fill the now open seats as potential candidates like Adam Kraut have turned down the open positions and it may be an opportunity to reduce the overall size of the NRA Board of Directors.

Earlier in August of 2019 three popular grass-roots leading board members resigned as well as there are reports that Craig Morgan has also resigned and Julie Golob announced last week she will not be completing the full term of her Directorship.

Leaving current NRA President Carolyn D. Meadows holding the record for having the most active duty NRA Board members resign under her leadership.

Below is Richard Childress’ resignation letter.

“For years Wayne has taken NRA members’ money to live the life of a king, but he’s not a king. He’s the head of a nonprofit trusted by millions to use its funds to secure constitutional rights,” Hilton said Monday. “Wayne LaPierre is an odious little grifter and it’s time for him to go.”

“Wayne LaPierre and the NRA Officers, Executive Directors, Managing Directors resign immediately, including Josh Powell.”

It doesn’t seem that the Board is trying to be open and honest. They just keep putting out statements of support for WLP, and saying everything is fine. However, they don’t appear to be willing to open the books, as they say. That worries me and makes me think there are things they don’t want to come out. At this point, I don’t think it matters who is right or wrong or may or may not have done right or wrong. Members are losing confidence. We need a strong NRA and a strong membership. We don’t have that right now… Read more »

Sometimes you got to wonder if Wayne La Pierre is trying to tear down the house he believes he built… I cut my membership payments down to the $10 a year (Liberty associate member) several years ago.. the NRA was too willing to compromise with the Dems.. besides they bugged the absolute hell out of me for money… I only pay for Liberty associate membership for our shooting club range insurance requirements.. I joined the Second Amendment Foundation which actually has done the most for gun owners, in the courts, than any gun organization has.. the Second Amendment Foundation should… Read more »

Childress is a big time money guy. Protection of personal wealth would come before the NRA and the dastardly city of NY. If that is the reason for him to resign, I sure wouldn’t blame him in the least. Ity is going to get hot in NY one of these days.

Childress doesn’t need the NRA job, he is making MILLIONS form the NASCAR brain dead. NASCAR has to be the MOST BORING sport out there today, it’s right there next to women’s soccer.
Same cars, same parts, different stickers….. The NHRA is there too anymore.

When the man writes his resignation stating it is to focus on his business why do some persist to think this is some great political declaration? It is just the fantasies of undeveloped minds in tin foil hats or the machinations of socialist propagandists that emerge from the recesses of middle earth at times like these? Either case, they represent a fifth column wanting to undermine the civil rights of others through agitation, insinuation, and misdirection.

Why do they think that? Probably because, like most people who have a decent CV, they’ve left jobs and know better than to burn bridges. Only idiots write exit statements like,”Th boss sux and I hate this place.” Anybody with any sense always writes something about pursuing opportunities or having too much on their plate to give the job the attention it deserves. You might want to think about that next time you need to write a letter like that…

Our resident NRA shill again! How is it that the NRA can’t find anyone to fill the now 5 empty seats on the Board? I guess no one wants to be subpoenaed by the NY AG, sued by the NRA members, fined for failing to provide proper oversight, or indicted for tax fraud, especially without having the NRA’s legal insurance. The new benefits of the Wayne LaPierre fan club aren’t so attractive. Maybe that would be the same reason why NRA Board members are leaving without saying outright why? Maybe they don’t want to incriminate themselves or others? Julie Golob… Read more »

The only “5th Column” is LaPierre and those who support him and the idea that he “is” the NRA.

Richard Childress? .. is that the guy that owes everything to Dale Earnhardt?
