Red Flag Gun Laws- the obvious problems politicians want to ignore

U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- Politicians told us to put up plastic signs that said “no guns allowed”. The results were horrible.

Instead of making us safer as they promised, these “gun-free” zones left crowds of unarmed people at the mercy of mass murderers. Gun-control politicians aren’t criticized when their policies fail. Rather than fix their mistakes, they invent a new gun-control law. Criminals don’t follow gun laws, so these new laws are no more effective than the last ones. We’re rightfully disturbed when innocent people are slaughtered. Rather than fix their mistakes, Democrat politicians offered up human sacrifices so we’ll feel safer.

An honest psychiatrist will tell you how difficult it is for him to predict if one of his patients will act violently. It is harder still to predict when an individual will become violent. A history of violence and threats of violence are the best predictor we have of future violence. Anything else is superstition. Unfortunately, politicians are very good at selling superstition.

California had these superstitious gun-laws for years. You can call the police and report your concerns. Florida has laws like this too. People even called the FBI to report their concerns. Unfortunately, law enforcement often fails to act on tips even when there is convincing evidence. A few years ago, an about-to-be mass murderer in California was flagged by his family and his doctor. The murderer in California did exactly the same thing that a mass murderer in Colorado did. He lied to the police and to the doctors who evaluated him. Psychopaths are experts at lying to get what they want. The recent mass murderer in Florida was not arrested and adjudicated as dangerous even after he pointed a gun at his mother’s head.

With these failures on their record, gun-control politicians have given up on the rule-of-law and are now resorting to the rule-of-rumor so the anti-gun politicians can look responsible in front of the news cameras. These anti-rights politicians want to remove the legal burden of bringing evidence into a court of law and to replace evidence with a feeling.

The goal is to give everyone the power to disarm you. The result is that anyone can harass you using the police as their tool.

“Your ex-mother-in-law feels you might be dangerous. We need to search your apartment for weapons.”

That sanctioned bigotry gets rebranded as a virtue by calling it an extreme risk protection order, also known as a red-flag gun law. The results are entirely predictable. To misquote a long-dead communist propagandist,

‘You show me the man, and I’ll show you the person they offended.’

You’re now in the frightening position of having to show you’re not crazy in a court of law. Your legal defense will cost you about ten thousand dollars, and there is no opportunity to recover your costs after your hearing shows your sane. The predictable result is that poor people are easily disarmed with a simple phone call. That is a bigots dream if there ever were one. Unfortunately, the abuse gets worse.

You can be charged repeatedly for the same “crime” of making someone feeling uncomfortable.

Since this isn’t a court of law, nothing prevents your ex-husband from calling the police again next month..and the month after that. Divorce lawyers love this. So do Socialist politicians. We eliminated the rule of law. You can’t know if your innocent or guilty since any action might eventually offend someone somewhere. This is the perfect tool for mob rule and for enforced conformity.

The politicians who give lip service to diversity want to make it a crime to think, feel, and act differently than the mob. Gun owners are the first sacrifice.

ERPO/GVROs miss one very BIG point. If the person is too dangerous to have a gun, what about all their other potential weapons? Hammers, knives, bats, household chemicals, car/truck, etc.? So it’s OBVIOUS ERPO/GVROs are not anti-threat, they are anti-gun!

the Nazi’s disarmed the Jews before they rounded them up and exterminated them. how long before the leftist gun haters do the same for us? after the Second Amendment is taken away from us how long before the First, Fourth and Fifth are gone? why are these politicians not prosecuted for perjury when they swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution?

I seems that when comrad Graham and Rubio get their illegal red flag law in effect it will only take one test to prove it unConstitutional. I hope they pick on someone that has enough money to fight this. Afterall, we are financing the bad law and these commies when we pay our taxes. Something doesn’t seem very kosher, here.

tomcat; My question is when is somebody going to use the RED FLAG LAW against one of these Politicians that passed them, isn’t it designed for people with suicide tendencies, and a Threat to Others, these Politicians do have Suicide Tendencies and are a Definite Threat to Others-US???????? All it takes is to Drop a coin , no proof JUST A CALL, done deal, let them prove that they are SANE, I’m sure on further testing they will be found INCOMPETENT to hold office or to make any LAWS!!!!!! Let them put up with the 5 am door kicking RAIDS!!!!!!!!… Read more »

In the greatest country on Earth,The United Of America, how can so many otherwise intelligent people be so ignorant and naive as to believe that enacting more anti-gun laws will make any beneficial difference in the number of gun crimes when only the law abiding obey the laws? Regardless of the laws, anyone who isn’t locked up can get a gun if he/she wants one. And if their intention is to commit a crime with that gun, they certainly aren’t concerned about the repercussions for their actions when they get caught. Gun free zones and the signs advertising them, are… Read more »

Another “common sense” gun control measure with no common sense involved. The anti-gunners have no objections to these Red Flag laws because they don’t believe you should own guns in the first place. Therefore, gun owners are not entitled to our God-given natural rights. These Red Flag laws will fail and fail they must. This is incrementalism — pass a specious law that sound good on the surface and when it fails, double down and demand more and more draconian gun laws. The goal is a run-around of the Second Amendment. If enough of these laws are allowed to happen,… Read more »

@Jeff, If there is no penalty for a report, then we will be reporting the entire democrat national socialist party. Find a pay phone, or use someone else’s phone, or a prepaid phone. Have a script. Have an alias. Have a ball!

I suspect that the anti-gunners do not recognize how this could impact them. I feel threatened by them and fear that they might have guns and be violent. Police will have to search their home. As other comments have suggested, recruit your friends and repeat weekly. If they are ever suspected of a crime at any future date, police have now have a record of frequent contacts – which is used to smear people and imply that they are evil and must be guilty of something. Red-flag laws are a big step toward an American version of the French revolution… Read more »

I know I’ll catch a lot of heat for this but I watched used-car salesman Donald work up his “Always-Trump” supporters last night’s rally in NH. At the end he brought up the notion of “mental-health issues” in regards to purchasing guns. Naturally, the crowd roared with approval and applauded without realizing they’d just been sold the goods of Red-Flag laws on a federal level. I voted for him but cannot support him should he continue down this path. Wouldn’t it have been appropriate and amazing had the audience began chanting, “NO RED-FLAG LAWS!” He wouldn’t know what to do.… Read more »

Spot on “Truth”! I have written DJT over a half dozen times in the last six months explaining to him is is falling into the demoncrats trap to loose the 2020 election. I also let him know I will no longer support or vote for him. The sign a top the article reads for mass shooters “OPEN SEASON- NO LIMIT” ! Think about it, how many hunters would go deer hurting if the deer shoot back???

@Ryben Flynn – actually I had 3 “type O’s”! Sorry for the mistakes, bad eyes, suggested word selection and in a hurry. I hope I never get this critical on all the post I read here. God bless you and all the 2A lovers here, I pray for patience every day.

@Truth, that is only half the truth. The Donald said that guns don’t their own trigger, people do, and much of what causes that is the use of illegal drugs coming up from the weak Southern border. Then the crowd roared.
What the pres. said does not suggest to me red flag law support, but rather Southern border security improvement.

Du bist is correct, although the dumkopf is masculine and it should read keiner dumkopf.

Don’t forget the devil in the details, when you get red flagged you will get locked up for a 3 day mental evaluation, a 5150 hold, you go to court at your expense, you win and get your guns back, and think you are whole. Then you decide to buy a new gun, and your nics check comes back blocked, after an involuntary 5150 hold (even if you are considered ok ) your are now banned forever from purchasing guns, that is the goal of the left. Funny how nobody mentions this, I have listened to people who had this… Read more »

May be helpful to review Wilborn vs Barr, Case 5:18-cv-03597-JLS, filed 8 Aug 19 whereby the District Court ruled against the AG, granting Summary Judgment to Wilburn. In a nut shell, an involuntary mental health stay in hospital for examination does not trigger a federal firearm prohibition.
