One Dead After Canton OH Resident Shoots Home Invader

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- ABC News 5 Cleveland reported 07-22-19 in Canton, Ohio an early-morning home invasion in the 2600 block of Second Street NW. Police Captain Dave Davis reported the homeowners were awakened by two intruders hitting them with guns. One had a rifle and the other a handgun.

At some point during the attack, the robbers left the bedroom and went downstairs in search of money. By the time they headed back up the stairway, the homeowner had retrieved his own pistol.

One of the individuals discharged three rounds from his rifle before being shot and killed by the homeowner according to court records.

The homeowner told the officers someone had broken into his house a week before. Detectives did not yet know whether the two incidents are related.

Records show the third accomplice, a 28-year-old female returned to the area, picked up her 24-year-old, injured accomplice and drove him to Aultman Hospital. She was arrested at the hospital.

That 28-year-old was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m.

Aultman Police say the female repeatedly lied about her involvement as the get-a-way driver, so she was charged with obstructing justice and complicity to aggravated burglary.

Canton City Prosecutor Jason Reese said even though the woman didn’t pull the trigger, Ohio law allows her to be charged with murder because someone died during the commission of another felony crime, in this case, the burglary.

Stark County court records show the deceased invader had a long criminal history. Police are reviewing private surveillance video from homes in the area.

Anyone with information as to the third robber’s whereabouts are asked call detectives at 330-489-3144

Comments:

Most people visualize challenging an intruder as he enters the bedroom where they are sleeping. The everyday reality is you usually sleep through that part and are actually awakened by the physical assault or rape.

This is why I continually advocate for alarm systems, decent locks, automatic lights, and yappy dogs. Regular news media readers already know that most anti-gun hypocrites keep defense firearms in their homes.

Proof positive of the need and the right to self protection and to own firearms.

Mr. Irwin, I do not disagree with you but I’m a fan of data to back up our declarations; they help buttress our positions when dealing with gun grabbers.

Long story short, where did you get the information to back up the statement at the end of your article, “…most anti-gun hypocrites keep defense firearms in their homes.”?

“The 28 year old accomplice returned and picked up the injured 24 year old, took him to the hospital. The 28 year old died at 2:10am…”
There is NO mention of the 28 year old ever being injured in the first place…. She was arrested at the hospital, questioned and charged, right ?????
OR…. Was it the 24 year old criminal POS that died ?
KUDOS to the home owner… THAT is instant justice.

I too like “yappy” dogs. I am down to one yappy and one nappy and not planning on replacing those when they’re gone. Here is a follow up story with a couple of pictures: https://www.ohio.com/news/20190722/update-one-dead-after-canton-home-invasion-driver-charged-with-murder

, Yep, at some point in life we all have to consider what will happen to our animals, should they survive us. It is the responsible thing to do.

Both home owners are lucky to be alive. The robbers could have easily killed them in their own bed room. The home owner was under fire when he dropped robber #1? That takes cahonies. Either way, the owner could not afford to let the robbers back up the stairs and the robbers were not willing to surrender so there was not another choice to be made. The owner HAD TO SHOOT. Sad that someone had to die and meet the LORD under some very undesirable circumstances but people like that tend to die of natural causes–natural to their vocation. Anyway,… Read more »

“Sad that someone had to die…”
THAT is why these robbers rob, rape & murder. Gutless Americans are willing to take the hit rather than kill the animal. Glad you were not with me in Cambodia…

Didn’t say the dead guy didn’t deserve it, just said it is sad he had to go meet the LORD under less than good circumstances. The only places I did not go when in the military was Ant Antarctica, Australia and the far east. I have seen to it that those who opposed the U.S.A. paid either in blood, body parts or lives every place else in the world. Sandy places, forested places, mountains, jungles and some VERY cold places and yes, here in the world. I do admit it has been 21 years and a few months since last… Read more »

NO ONE goes to meet the Lord when they die – try reading the God’s word instead of repeating the lies of the deceivers! God clearly told us, in prophesy, that the dead “in Christ” and “living in Christ” would be taken during the tribulation when Christ returns, not before. All of the rest will suffer the wrath of God on earth.

It is appointed for man once to die, and after that the judgement. When each one of us dies, we DO face Him for judgement. How else would dead folks be separated into “the dead in CHrist” and the dead not “in CHrist”? The judgement happens long before that day. And that bit about “when He comes, the dead in Christ will rise” and then those still alive but Iin Cheist will join them in the air…. note this is given no connextion with what you call the tribulation. If you READ history you will learn that “the tribulation” and… Read more »
