USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Most of us don’t want a second Civil War, though many of us will fight, and a very few even think war is a good idea. But the obvious question is what would it look like?
The answer is nothing like the last civil war. I polished off a bottle of McCallum 25 with a couple of old friends who think about this stuff for a living. You’d like these guys, bright, inventive; each kept up at night by their serious jobs.
The causes of the last Civil War were economic. Tariffs on products coming into and leaving southern ports meant the agrarian south was at odds with the more urban and industrialized north. No such division exists today. The left does not control states; the left controls cities; everything else belongs to the people.
The days of massed armies are long passed. So what can we expect?
Most liberal politicians will be in hiding or deceased within the 1st 72 hours. A nation of riflemen will step up.
If you picked a City, let’s say Chicago. Close off the roads, shut down the airports and the City has maybe five days of food, close off fuel or power and in the winter it freezes in two days.
Pick a City like Los Angeles that imports all its water, close that down and inside a week, the City is dry.
Civil unrest will follow – our major cities will burn from self-immolation.
Only in the big cities will the left control law enforcement. The State Guard units will not fire on civilians and will not necessarily come to defend cities where they do not live; they have families of their own to protect.
With 120,000,000 gun owners in America, 3% represents 3.6 million people. There are 850,000 sworn law officers in the US. The numbers favor those of us who stand for freedom. In the face of these number the 1st thing the left will try to do is forcefully disarm the people in the big cities. That may not go as smoothly as they plan.
The fact is the left is driving this. They have no tolerance for anyone who does not think and believe as they do. That type of division can only lead one direction. We must break their grip on the narrative.
ANTIFA is the left’s, Brown Shirts. When these masked cowards move to take power who will stand in their way? American gun owners will rally to protect their neighborhoods. We will fire on the ANTIFA crowds to protect our children. It would be a quick fight.
With my group, when the bottle got closer to empty, we asked some other questions:
- What happens when Mexico occupies Southern California and parts of Texas and Arizona to protect their citizens? What happens if they don’t stop there? With Gavin Newsom as the Governor of CA, will he welcome the Mexican invasion? Is the re-conquest of the lands lost in the Mexican/American war next?
- Can Canada handle the 10’s of millions of refugees?
- With our significant cities already being cesspools of disease and poverty, what happens afterward? How do you rebuild a country so divided with its major cities in ruins? Reconstruction will be harder than you realize.
So what can you do? Keep four weeks of food and water on hand. Buy a rifle. Pistols are excellent for personal defense, but there may be times when you need to reach out and extend your safe perimeter. Five hundred meters is right for me; your needs may vary. Keep enough ammunition and supplies to meet your family’s needs, then double it. Remember if your extended family knows you’re prepared you can expect guests.
Learn to store and handle your firearms safely and proficiency. (That is what REGULATED means in the 2nd Amendment.) Teach your children to shoot.
Get politically active, do what you can to stave off this conflict or prevent it.
So how else would it start? A President Booker throws gun owners in jail, or a President Sanders invited in blue helmets to help with firearms confiscation. Maybe it’s nothing more than a deranged kid with a grudge, like Gavrilo Princip.
Then again maybe it’s already started and we’re just not paying attention.
Or it could be a plague. Thirty million undocumented illegal aliens huddled in barrios who shun the police and authorities are a potential biological time bomb. Combine that with an outbreak of Ebola, and a population scared of deportation it would give the disease time to spread. Would we see it 1st in our detention centers or on our streets? It would directly affect the Sanctuary City problem. Hispanics would take the brunt of the blame and be seen as carriers; the nation would begin to fall apart as moves to protect individual population groups unfold. Segregation would follow.
Remember, luck favors the well prepared. Have you thought long term about your family when it all goes south? I’d rather be prepared for something I hope never happens than left unprepared when if it does. How about you?
This article is a lesson for those on the left of thought; you cannot win.
The destruction you would invite is something to be avoided. Trump is NOT Hitler, in 2 or 6 years he will bow at the waist, thank us all for allowing him to serve; then he will walk away from power and enjoy his waning years. Be it Trump, Obama, Bush, or Clinton that is how it works. I hope you’re listening, so full of hate, you on the left are, that it blinds you to reality. Do not ring a bell you cannot un-ring.

Confiscation of privately-owned firearms is the surest way to encourage pushback from American patriots. Come and take them at your peril. My Brother, I am a Viet Nam/Cambodia Army veteran. I can trace my family’s military history through ever engagement from the Revolutionary War through every war, Marshalling, argument & tiff through today. I read some people who hoped that we could avoid the War of Coastal Aggression/ Civil War 2.0, but that is not the same thing. You didn’t mention names, but many, if not most, of the people here have experience in some Great Unpleasantness. Calling them names says more about you than them. If gun confiscation did happen it would certainly establish a tyrant in power. There would be assassinations between factions just like in the USSR, and other dictatorships.
If a civil war did not begin to stop that before it would certainly happen, perhaps to maintain the tyranny or maybe to re-establish freedom.

I just don’t know what it would take to cause Civ War II. Americans of the far past fought over a 3% stamp tax, or States Rights. The most profound part of this article (it’s all good) is the part noting that large Cities/population centers are controlled by the left. The large cities in almost all the states also control the elections by concentrating the vote to the exclusion of small towns and rural areas where the majority of people in the states actually reside. The most limiting factor for the Patriots will be the inability to communicate with each other. The government already knows who amongst us are likely to present resistance. All they have to do is disable our cell phone numbers and our efforts will be severely hampered.
The only reason they (the guv) wouldn’t disable our phones is so they can listen to our conversations.

WF, I agree. It’s also worthwhile to remember SSB , and if you can go old school, swap the crystals in your CB radio Xmit for RC, and vice versa, and make a new set of freqs to run on. Also remember that antenna orientation matters.
Radio waves can’t be turned off. Get an amateur radio license, practice using it, understand how the frequencies work.
Ham radio operators practice emergency communications during every disaster and are called in to assist the military, local and federal govt regularly.
Knowing how things are done, what things mean and how to track down signals would be critical.

In my opinion, the ‘trigger’ for civil war is the upcoming 2020 election. The Left won’t ‘accept’ a win by Trump. Trump supporters will claim a ‘loss’ to be fraudulent.
The Left may not accept a Trump victory, but can do nothing because they lack the means. They will cry, throw fits, and claim a stolen election, but they and their media lap dogs will do nothing but piss and moan.

I relocated to be in the ‘No Limits/Year Round Open Season’ feral hogs&Asian carp rivers. Not going to be every ones cup o tea, I know-don’t care. I cook/can em up to taste good!
An old timer here in Montana cans carp. It tastes just about like tuna fish. Not my favorite, but still good food.
But, as a cattleman, my taste leans more towards T-bone steak. I eat fish too, but being close to Ft. Peck lake (a LOT of water for the arid Montana tundra) I prefer Walleyes and Northerns. I really like that flaky white flesh, although I dislike cleaning those Northern Pike snot rockets. But like they tell you in SEAL training; “You don’t have to like it, you only have to do it”.
Nice thing bout canning fish is that, the bonier the fish it don’t matter, cause they get all crumbly during pressure canning. Good source of calcium. That’s why carp are best caned, no fancy deboning required. I can a condensed fish chowder, you just add a can of evaporated milk to complete. Meats meat and Mans got to Eat! Pork, beef, fish, time for dinner.
That’s the way old Bill here does it. He’s nearly a hundred years old now. He cans ’em bones and all. So Instead of throwing carp out, I just bring them to him and he gives me some already canned up. The bones just turn liquidy like in canned salmon. Its really good for preserved meat. Only jerky is any better. No, canned beef is really good too. Just put some stew meat in a jar, add a teaspoon of salt, and pressure can it up. It keeps for a long time, no refrigeration, and I just warm it up… Read more »

Have my one acre truck patch next to the house. Half the hogs I have shot here were trying to get past the fence, talk about a ‘twofer’! Better than feeding deer corn for 6 months just to shoot a tame buck every fall…still it’s going to take EOTWAWKI to have me trying wheat or rice on my own.
Or, if one has the space, a small herd of cows makes a great food source. Live food never spoils, and in the case of cows, they can even fight off predators. They do need a little help while calving, but I consider that a small price to pay for unlimited T-bones and prime rib! Wild Bill If you want to min/max a meat animal none beat rabbits. Feed is less than chickens and the manure does not need to be composted. They also out produce chickens for meat in the same time period. But not every one likes cooked hare, over chicken.
@MC, Easier to clean, too, but I’m going to have both. I pile up dead brush for the cottontails and have a healthy population without doing anything more. Chickens love the bugs in the horse and cow shit. I will only give them a little feed for their egg shells, and they produce eggs that rabbits don’t. Did you know that, instead of feeding them calcium supplements to make their egg shells strong, you can just dry out and grind up their eggshells and feed them right back to them? They eat it right up, and it saves on feed supplements. And makes for less waste to get rid of too.

I just put all my eggshells in an old tin can. I like the size that Hunts spaghetti sauce comes in (although I don’t like that sauce). They dry out in there by themselves, and when it gets about full, crush them up with a rolling pin and mix them right back into their grain. Its hardly any more work than throwing them away.
You said it! A yard and some knowledge is all that’s needed to survive… albeit barely. But check out this guy. He makes 60K/year on TWO ACRES, but there’s some catches. Like it’s all hand labor, involves travel from an acre in Maine to an acre in Florida to get two crops a year… and more. But 30K per acre? That’s unreal…
Have you tried just skinning your chickens? I do that a lot, although it has some real drawbacks. I do it every time I just want one chicken at a time. It’s soooo much easier than plucking, but it really makes the meat dry out in cooking. I address that by either oven roasting in a covered roasting pan, or just cutting it up for stir fry, which is my favorite way to have chicken anyway. No Montana Walmart has 50lb of flour for 10 bucks. We grow the wheat here, and its 6 bucks a bushel (60 lbs), just for the unground wheat kernels. Flour is 25 lbs for 12 bucks on sale, 18-20 otherwise.
Knute cost of living is going to change by location. Have you tried walmart.com? Some times I can get free shipping for those same items I listed at those prices, delivered to my door here in the South. And Alaska sea food is just as pricey in AK, as it is after it’s sent to the lower 48..

Good article Don. This country is in one mell of hess, the worse it has ever been since the first civil war. What a shame because it is the most successful country the world has ever seen. There is no excuse for all this except some spoiled brats want total control and our property rather than work for their wealth. I agree that a Civil War is coming. The snowflakes do not believe it, but it IS coming. Take out the power grids feeding the east and west coast cities and they will descend into anarchy within a week and the rest will be history. The one point not made here is that if any kind of armed conflict happens it won’t be avoidable nor will we have a choice. Regardless of your willingness to fight, you may have to. Having been in combat myself, I have no desire to do it again. With the homeless populations of Seattle, LA, and San Francisco, living in Middle Age squalor and defecating on the sidewalks the plagues will develop and hit the big cities the hardest. Illegal immigration is contributing to this horrendous situation and people are resenting it. The sanctuary city movement has made it worse. Citizens rightfully believe that their local politicians care more about illegals more than they care about citizens. In my opinion, it probably would be over pretty quickly one way or another because very few people in this country are prepared to care for themselves much longer than a few days. Your statistic about 109 deaths per year being small (aprox 2000 over a decade) reminded me of a traffic statistic in the mid 2000s when I lived in Illinois.
