Minnesota – -(AmmoLand.com)- Organizers of the Minnesota Governor's Deer Hunting Opener are looking for Fergus Falls-area landowners who would like to volunteer to be a hunter host for the 17th annual Minnesota Governor's Deer Hunting Opener activities Thursday, Nov. 7, to Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019.
Hunter hosts will help promote Minnesota's deer hunting tradition and the Fergus Falls area by inviting visiting media and others to join their hunt. Minnesota's firearm deer season opens Saturday, Nov. 9.
“Fergus Falls is one of the state's great hunting areas and the city itself is an outstanding tourist destination with one of the most energetic Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) chapters in the state,” said Craig Engwall, Executive Director of MDHA. “Hunter hosts provide a unique opportunity for media personalities and visiting dignitaries to experience the great tradition of the Minnesota Deer Hunting Opener, and bring their stories back to varying media outlets across the state and nation.”
Hunter hosts receive complimentary tickets to each of the Governor's Deer Hunting Opener events including the Welcome to Camp Social on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Z103 Bar & Grill, Big Buck Brunch on Friday, Nov. 8, at Bigwood Event Center in Fergus Falls, where they will be formally recognized for their generosity, and the Tales of the Hunt press conference on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Mabel Murphy's.
“Serving as a hunter host is a great way to show off the traditions and quality hunting we have in this state by passionate hunters,” Engwall said. “It requires little more than simply talking about deer hunting – and we all love to do that – providing a deer stand or two, and sharing with a reporter what deer hunting means to you, your family and your hunting camp.”

The Governor's Deer Hunting Opener promotes hunting and tourism and is hosted by Gov. Tim Walz. The annual event is a partnership among the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, MDHA and its local chapters, Explore Minnesota, the Fergus Falls community, and other generous partners.
