To Baltimore Mayor: ‘Honest Gun Owners Aren’t Killing People, Either’ ~ VIDEO

Opinion

BELLEVUE, WA — -(AmmoLand.com)- Responding to Baltimore Mayor Bernard “Jack” Young’s argument that he isn’t responsible for the city’s rising homicide rate because he’s “not committing the murders,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today fired right back, “Law-abiding gun owners aren’t committing murders, either.”

“Yet Mayor Young and his fellow Democrats continue pushing extremist gun control laws, which only penalize honest firearms owners,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Universal background checks, which Young supported from the moment he joined ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ two months ago, don’t prevent criminals from getting guns, and he should know that.

“Young’s hypocrisy and buck-passing shouldn’t surprise anybody,” Gottlieb continued. “He has quickly joined the ranks of liberal public officials playing the blame game; officials who refuse to take responsibility for the mayhem happening on their watch.”

Young became Baltimore’s mayor when Catherine Pugh stepped down earlier this year. Before that, he served on the city council for more than 20 years, eventually rising to the office of Council President.

He told reporters Wednesday that the city’s leadership is not to blame for Baltimore’s rising murder rate. The Baltimore Sun reported the city has logged 296 murders so far this year.

“Jack Young has been a city official for more than two decades,” Gottlieb observed, “so you bet he’s part of the problem. Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, and in Baltimore it is virtually impossible for average citizens to get carry permits for personal and family protection.

“An honorable Democrat named Harry Truman had a sign on his desk,” Gottlieb recalled. “That sign said ‘The Buck Stops Here.’ So, Mayor Young, this rising violent crime is on you, not on honest gun owners in Maryland or anywhere else. So stop trying to pass the buck to private citizens who only want to exercise their constitutionally-protected rights, without having to jump through a bunch of hoops or get past all of the legislative roadbloacks you and your fellow Democrats want to put in their way.

Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear ArmsWith more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

Remington isn’t committing the murders, either.

Zackley ! This opens a new field for suing auto manufacturers or ANYTHING else that has been used wrongly….. FACT !
It’s NOT the machine, it’s the person controlling it.

I think we should blame Adam Lanza’s mother for what was done with her AR15 because she let herself get shot by her son. Makes about as much sense as suing Remington.

@CL – Blame wise it makes more sense to sue the mother rather than Remington, because she was closer to the problem with ability to recognize and inhibit the illegal behavior. OTOH Remington has deeper pockets and that is all that lawyers care about – go for the $$$$.

There is an YOOOOOGE difference between Mrs. Lanza nd Remington. And no, I;m not thinking of the fact that one is dead and the other very much not so. One of them has LOTS OF MONEY the other has none. Can’t get more basic than that. I sincerely hope whichever court puts the spike in this lawsuit awards costs of litigation, and puintive for harm to the name, of the prevailing party. And I’d strongly recommend the folks guarding Remington’s interests move for a change of venue. NO ONE in Newton could possibly render an unbiased judgement. They have annual… Read more »

SCOTUS will allow the suit to continue, hopefully the CT court will realize the melee that will ensue if you are allowed to sue manufacturers of any product. Of course the courts are filled with attorneys that stand to profit from such a ruling.

@OV – Dig a bit deeper into that story. We’ve all accidentally splashed a small amount of hot beverage on ourselves – you swear a bit and move on. However, as I’ve heard it, McD targeted serving their coffee at a typical hot temp around 160-180F – but machine was malfunctioning so that when they handed the coffee out the window it was actually close to 210F. More importantly (as I’ve heard it) the woman did not actually spill the coffee herself, rather the employee handing it out the window dropped it on her – spilling the entire large cup… Read more »

It’s not like they don’t know they are disregarding the Federal Constitution, and depriving law abiding citizens of their rights. Why do the American people allow elected officials to break the oath of office (Which is a federal crime) and not hold them accountable? Serve not Rule..

KDude

Amen!

Wild Bill

@Stripe, What is the charge, in the US Code, that defines and makes it a crime to break the oath of office?

Trying to save his political career with the blame game. People are stupid enough to believe that politicians are looking out for them believing their outrageous lies. Just look at the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi as an example. Joseph Goebbels would envy them.

Laddyboy

Talking about this man, here is his OPINION: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Paul Joseph Goebbels (born October 29, 1897, Rheydt,… Read more »

Jonathon Gruber hit the nail on the head describing the electorate as too stupid to realize they were being used when boasting about the ACA.

Sooo HE has been a huge part of Baltimore turning to SHIT over his 20 years of doing noting but pointing his fingers like the rest of useless scum running the city into the ground, right ? Just another libtard Dem in it for nothing but the money and free stuff. YES, YOU and the other arrogant anti-gunners like YOU are the biggest reason for the gun problems, NOT the law abiding citizens. the problem stems from the CRIMINALS that YOU do nothing about, the CRIMINALS that are attracted to your GUN FREE shit hole state because they feel SAFE… Read more »

Here again, I would remind you of the differences in the basic tenets separating the right from the left. What follows are the Dems actual tenets. (1) “People are asked to vote their leaders who have no responsibility and or accountability to the progress or failures of their countries.” (2) “If the voters are unhappy with the elected leaders, they have to wait it out for the remaining years to elect other leaders who have no responsibility or accountability, either.” (3) “The elected leaders are not to be blamed or punished for the failures of the countries under their leadership.”… Read more »

How marvelous, that a “leader” can try to justify his competency when pathetically failing to solve problems by saying, “But I’m not the one causing the problem.”

tomcat

Typical democrat response, I didn’t do the crime. What they do not finish with is that the stupid laws they enacted is what caused the problem. This is exactly what they want, total disfunction. After they get all our guns and have the full power they want they will off these useless pawns.

If politicians were allowed to keep their job based on good performance of their duties the situation would remedy itself quickly. The vote them out myth doesn’t work. But…THE BEST RULE CHANGE THAT COULD EVER BE INSTITUTED IS AS FOLLOWS. “Any politician that is convicted of any crime is removed and Replaced with whoever came in second.” Just like when Miss America is unable to perform her duties, the runner up takes over, the person they beat gets to have the job. The threat of not only distracting yourself and the office but also losing the spot to the rival… Read more »

In a REPUBLIC, the People are the masters. Unfortunately, too many Americans are too busy getting dopamine hits from their phone to worry about controlling government.
Just too much effort to control the bad politicians.
The Founding Fathers gave us Liberty and Freedom. Americans squandered them both.

Doszap

Only way to TAKE our government back is like Jefferson said.

MICHAEL J

Lifetime career politicians never take responsibility for the ghettos and crime zones they’ve created, but somehow it’s not their fault? Remember that term “low voter turn out”? This is how these vipers get or stay in office. There is no excuse for a candidate to run unopposed, and yet the lack of term limits allows just that. People need to vote in every election no matter how insignificant it might appear to be. BECAUSE when you’re not paying attention, that’s the time they slip in their agendas counting on voters not to show up. How many crooked incumbents did you… Read more »

No where in the article do they address the root of the problem.
It’s like St.Louis, everyone in city politics pretends to be blind or stupid when it’s obvious.
On top of that, if you are aware enough to recognize the problem, they identify you as a “racist”.
Why the blind eye?

Are these the same people that absconded with $18 billion of urban renewal funds? Yeah, I would trust them about as far as I can spit.

@USA; In times past, the color PURPLE meant you belonged to the “elitist cabal”. Purple die was very hard to obtain. Thus, only people with money(other peoples’ money) could afford purple clothing.

Courageous Lion - Hear Me Roar - Jus Meum Tuebor

Hmmmm…maybe we should start suggesting that all of the enemies of freedom wear purple so that we can pick them out easier when the SHTF.

@CL – Hey I happen to like purple – as long as it is not on a dinosaur. Don’t wear it often, but when I do I’d rather not be shot as an enemy of freedom.

jack mac

Purple is the long traditional color of royals.

Mr. Mayor, YES you are killing people, YOUR anti GUN stances make it SO easy for HONEST people to NOT protect themselves.SO YOU and others in your DEMOSCUM GVT have allowed it for decades.

Young black girls figured out that if they got pregnant at 14, 15 or 16, they did not have to do all that “oh, so hard” school work and they did not have to get a job. Because, for the next 18 years, she and her bastard child will get a 100% free ride on the backs of the taxpayers. If you live in a large city, you know these chirren are out at 2 A.M., 3 A.M. and wondering the streets. With no father, these creatures become gang members with the resulting crimes and murder. Also, the mother keeps… Read more »

It’s up to the real men in the community to help these families. It goes back to the Lion’s Club and the many community service organizations: they knew they had a responsibility and they were good men and women. You speak so ill of these lost children: I hope you take that anger and frustration and do something about it: so you’re not part of the problem.
