USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- We often find ourselves arguing statistics with anti-gun people. Let’s put the conversation into perspective. I will give you some statistics and I’ll also expose the anti-gun left’s real motives for gun control. First of all, don’t you think that if someone really wanted to save lives, they would focus their attention on an area where the most lives are lost? If you’ll notice, Anti-Gunners miss that piece of logic and gravitate toward any justification for gun control laws regardless of its inability to save lives.
The gun grabbers like to use the number of 30,000 to 40,000 gun-related deaths per year but if we take out suicides, which are 60% of those deaths and we take out law enforcement-related deaths, we’re left with about 14,880 gun-related homicides. Let me add something here. After seeing the results of Australia’s gun ban, we know that suicides do not go down in the absence of guns. People find other means; just in case there are some Anti-Gunners out there still trying to blame suicides on guns.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
The majority of those gun-related homicides are gang-related. So, let’s say we didn’t have the gang problem we have in this country. If we take out gang/gun murders the number of gun-related homicides shrinks to 2,976 per year in America. here’s another interesting fact that the anti-gun left doesn’t want you to know. The majority of gang-related violence occurs in Democrat-run cities across this country, which by the way are highly gun restricted and often allow violent Illegals safe harbor. Which means, the good people living within those cities are denied their right to protect themselves against the human violence that Democrats encourage with their bad policies. Now let’s compare 2,976 gun-related homicides to some other things that the anti-gun left could be working on if they really wanted to save lives.
- 2,976 gun-related homicides, consisting of many different causes. None of which are caused by “the gun.”
- 11,000 lives lost per year in America to drunk driving accidents.
- 47,000 lives lost per year in America due to suicide, (bipolar disorder and schizophrenia being two of the leading causes of suicide.) Not guns. Remember, take away the guns and that number doesn’t change.
- 330,000 lives are taken per year in America by people committing abortion. One of the biggest causes of preventable deaths in America is abortion. Didn’t the gun-grabbers say they wanted to save lives?
Now let me give you a piece of information that the anti-self-defense crowd doesn’t want you to know. How many lives do you think are saved every year because of guns?
- 2,500,000 lives are potentially saved every year in America because of guns. These are called Defensive Gun Uses (DGU’s). Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean good guys killing bad guys. This most often means just the mere presence of a gun deters a bad guy. 46% of those lives saved are women. This is from a study that was done by Gary Kleck, a Florida criminologist and backed by data from the CDC.

Why do you think the gun grabbers never share this information? Some would argue that they don’t really care about saving lives as much as they care about disarming their fellow citizens and preventing them from independently protecting themselves and their families.
Gun control is a top-down method that puts the government in charge of the lives and safety of people under the guise of “public safety.” It’s the first step in stealing the freedom our founders fought for. The anti-gun left has already decided that they are willing to give up their freedom to government. The problem is, they can’t have their government-controlled Utopian society unless everyone gets on board. Real Americans are clearly not getting on board. In fact, just the opposite is true. People across the country are fighting back as the left-wing ideology tries desperately to embed itself into traditional America. Gun control is a way of forcing you into dependence whether you like it or not.
We’re never going to cure the evil in the hearts of killers but thanks to our Founding Fathers recognized the importance of firearms, we can stop them.
So, to the gun grabbers, do you really want to save lives? Then get to work on the real causes of human-violence and help us restore our gun rights so good people can protect themselves. Help us save lives, rather than ending them before they get a chance to take their first breath.
The 2nd Amendment is not a privilege. It’s your right.

Since I E.T.S.”s out of the Army, I have been involved in 5 instances where there were or there was potential for lives being lost. If I pulled myself out of the numbers, there are 16 people who either lived, survived or died in total. I have family members who would not be alive today if I had not been armed. I have family members who would have been kidnaped had I not been armed. My daughter is one of them and it happened to her 2X. From what we know guns save 1300% or more lives than are used to take innocent lives. That’s not considering the passive value of having high numbers of legally armed citizens versus a population of unarmed citizens who are easily victimized.
From now on I’m hanging out with DB. Can you imagine having two of him, running around? Now imagine an army of him running around, and this is what every criminal in America has to look forward to when contemplating their next ill-gotten move. Word: tis not wise to pull on Superman’s cape.

@StWayne – If half of what @DB has said I’d true, and I have no reason to disbelieve him, there is no “army of him.” Many may be competent, but he’s at a whole different level from most of us. Fortunately most situations can be resolved even with minimal skill. There certainly is an army of people exceeding that level.

Mass shootings occur in No Gun Zones areas, mostly public schools. The No Gun Zone law passed in 1990 actually supports the massacre of children, teachers and others. This law “enables and guarantees a successful mass shooting” by making everyone in the public school system defenseless. This law doesn’t apply to private schools which have their own armed security. There have been no mass shootings at private schools in the same 30 year time period (1990 to 2020). This law also guarantees the shooters’ safety since they alone have weapons! Gun grabbers don’t give a shit about saving lives, any lives. All they care about is taking away the law-abiding persons right to protect themselves. I have been studying various crime phenomenon my entire adult life and worked abroad dealing with high crimes and I have stopped entertaining the Democrats delusional pre don crime fighting fantasies. They are orchestrating a system that not only violates Article VI within the US Constitution, but takes citizens ability to protect themselves from violent criminals. I would just add in reality, stats mean nothing. Arms is a God Given / natural right that the 2nd Amendment and Constitution defends from the Government restricting and limiting their power over the people. It doesn’t not restrict the people of liberty. The infringements the govt is doing right now, from the federal, state and local levels is treachery. That’s something else the gun grabber don’t want you to know.
It’s easier for them to get a dick in you if you don’t have a gun.

This is a prime example of letting a convicted felon out to do more harm! It was the Judge who let him out to kill….and it’s the Judge’s fault!!
Murder with guns amounts to about 4.6 per 100,000, death from drug overdose is 21.7 per 100,000 or nearly five times as many. And that is only overdose deaths, many other deaths are drug related, including many, perhaps most of those firearm deaths. If the goal is to save lives the effort would be much better directed at opioid drug addiction intervention.
For them, it’s not at all about children’s safety. If it were, they’d be working with us to educate children on proper firearm safety, and they wouldn’t be murdering so many children in the womb.
I keep hearing the 2.5M DGU figure. In this write up Dan assumes that all of those are defense from humans. Now I realize that humans represent the biggest threat, but are any of those 2.5M other forms of self rescue? Believe questions were open enough that they could have counted things like shooting a bear, dog or rabid skunk or even using gun to signal for help. Dan, I believe you number is about half of what it actually is. Planned Parenthood facilities is responsible for an average of over 300,000 annually. Although the US is predicting a low number for 2019, some years have been over 900,000. And in the world in general about 45 million. Leading cause of death in the US and world? A legal form of genocide. Other than that I agree 100% with your work. It could be noted as well, more often than not, legal Defensive Gun Use, even for protection, happens with no shots fired.
Not enough of those liberals are willing to adopt children of rape, incest or potential death of the mother. Until they do abortion will remain an option for those women.

Best plan yet has been PROVEN to work, costs the taxpayers NOTHING. Go learn about FASTER Saves Lives, out of Ohio, established in the wake of the Newtown/Sandy Hook school massacre. In the 2000 or so school districts where this programme has been established, there has been NOT ONE gun-related incident in ANY of the schools. Once word gets out that “SOME” of the adult staff/teachers “MAY” be armed at that school, it is off limits to anyone contemplating a massacre. @T – while 2000 schools may sound like a lot, not having a shooting in those schools doesn’t really prove anything because school shootings really are so rare. That rarity, along with ineffectiveness of gun grabbing proposals combine to show insanity of Bloomberg type approaches. From all I’ve heard, FASTER is a great program, providing effective protection along with deterrence in a very cost effective and unobtrusive way. Hide some guns, ammo, and equipment off site, preferably underground. I remember swearing an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC, and I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same”. That oath never expires..

Just a little more info…..alcohol alone takes 88,000 lives a year here in the USA. So that’s 77,000 above the drunk driving issue.
