Florida – -(AmmoLand.com)- It has now been over a year since the DOJ issued a press release and the Report on where criminals acquire their crime guns. Clearly, the Report did not fit the narrative that the media wanted to promote — or you would have read or heard about it sooner. It’s now time for you to see it, use it and share it with those who need to know the facts.
Be aware: the so-called “gun show loophole” is just another manufactured anti-gun fraud. There is NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE. PERIOD.
In 2016 The U.S. Department of Justice conducted a study of prison inmates. Included in that study was the collection of data to show where prisoners get the guns they used in the commission of crimes. The DOJ Press Release explains how the study was conducted. THE BOTTOM LINE:
Gun Shows accounted for 0.8% of firearms acquired by criminals, while Underground/Street purchases accounted for 43.2%
Simply put, LESS THAN 1% of crime guns were purchased at gun shows while almost half of all guns used in crimes were purchased illegally from the underground/street black market.

BJS RELEASES SOURCE AND USE OF FIREARMS INVOLVED IN CRIMES: SURVEY OF PRISON INMATES, 2016
WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Statistics today released Source and Use of Firearms Involved in Crimes: Survey of Prison Inmates, 2016, which presents statistics that describe firearm possession of state and federal prisoners who were serving a sentence in 2016. This report describes—
•Firearm possession during the crime for which prisoners were serving time and by type of offense
•How the firearm was used during the crime•Type of firearms possessed
•Methods, sources, and processes of obtaining firearms
Findings are based on BJS’s 2016 Survey of Prison Inmates (SPI), formerly known as the Survey of Inmates in State and Federal Correctional Facilities. The SPI self-reported data were collected through face-to-face interviews with a national sample of state and federal prisoners.

I go to many gun shows, etc… Have been befuddled buy this “supposed” (Dem/lib claimed) gun show loophole, I have’t seen it used at a gun show yet. I have never seen, had or been given factual knowledge of weapons sales being done without back ground checks AND included paperwork…
In my state, Virginia, private sales of firearms are legal anywhere firearms are “allowed”, including gun shows. I always see people walking around the show floors with for sale signs. Someone told me he has sold a couple of firearms at gun shows that way. However, I have never seen a private sale occurring at any of the, too numerous to count, gun shows I have attended.
“Just do something!” demands the mob after every mass shooting incident. What to do when these criminals aren’t obeying those laws, already in play? Simple: you take your frustrations out on the next best thing: the law-abiding gun owner because that, at least, will make you feel better about yourself. After all, it’s not the criminal who’s at fault here, but those who like guns because without them, and those damn guns, we would live in a utopia where even North Korea, would want to lay down its arms. Or to be more precise: criminals buying guns from private sellers, without a back-ground check, are <1%. So small the DOJ report says it doesn't bother to give anything it's own category if it's less than 1%.
Universal Background check laws are more about appeasing mob mentality about what they think will work. Not what is actually effective in influencing criminal behavior.
There have been other studies by LEO that says even guns purchased through legal sources were by-in-large obtained through straw purchasers..i..e. a girlfriend or wife, cousin or brother .purchases a gun for someone who is ineligible to buy, have, or use a firearm.
Please cite those studies and the numbers. We’ll wait…..
