U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Long guns represent the smallest fraction of all firearms used in crimes in the United States. Despite this, most Democratic politicians can’t stop wringing their hands over the prospect of banning them. Recently, Maryland was the target of one such ban. Where Democrats sought to prevent lawful gun owners from privately transferring shotguns and rifles. Thankfully, Governor Larry Hogan vetoed this recent attempt to further erode the Second Amendment. The NRA has the full details below.

Today, Governor Larry Hogan issued a veto on Senate Bill 208 and House Bill 4.  Gov. Hogan knows that restricting law-abiding citizens will do nothing to stop criminals.  In his statement on the veto, he reaffirmed his priority to “hold violent criminals accountable” for their actions.

These bills would have banned the sale or transfer of long guns between private individuals without first paying fees and obtaining government permission.  Firearm transfers such as loans and gifts between friends, neighbors, or fellow hunters, would not have been exempted.  Research shows such proposals have no impact on violent crime and Gov. Hogan is to be commended for refusing to recognize the false claims pushed by anti-gun advocates on this legislation.

NRA, STOP POSTING CHEAP PRESS RELEASES AND FIRE WAYNE!!!

WILL FLATT, STOP POSTING CHEAP COMMENTS THAT NO ONE CARES ABOUT! ASS CLOWN.

Will Flatt

Ahh, the village idiot finally comes out of quarantine. Thanks for making the rest of us look smarter by posting your dumbassery!

Will Flatt

Why do the commiecrats focus on banning all kinds of rifles? Because rifles in the hands of competent militia (that would be you) is an effective tool against absolute tyranny. They intend to do things to you that they know will cause a shooting rebellion on your part, and a suddenly shortened lifespan on their part! They want the rifles because those are what you use to overthrow bad governments!

TNJEWBOY

This is the commie bitch who introduced both bills. Susan C. Lee. My gut tells me she is working with the Chi-coms.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_C._Lee

Will Flatt

@TN – All the commiecrats are working with the Chicoms. They were all going to China last fall to meet with CCP officials, and this was right before the CV19 got out. I suspect STRONGLY that they conspired as TRAITORS to have China deploy CV19 to do to America what it’s done, so they can do what they’re doing now. If this can be proven by Trump, then every elected member of the Dem party goes to GITMO for TREASON!! Also, look at all the Chicom intelligence officers that are embedded on Demorat staffs. Feinstein, for example, has a chicom… Read more »

TNJEWBOY

Dear sir….. I believe that you are correct.

OH, you have a lot of Republicans who aren’t exactly good hard-line Constitutional conservatives.

Will Flatt

@TNJB – Oh believe me, I know! Many in the GOP are as statist as those on the Left, they’re just a different flavor of statism! These are the ones I call RINOs because a TRUE Republican would be a hardcore right-libertarian and constitutionalist! The problem is America has allowed all political power to be concentrated in the hands of political parties, rather than kept in the hands of the people. I cannot find any provision of the Constitution that permits the existence of political parties within our governmental framework. As such I believe that all parties should be abolished… Read more »

GUNFUN

I disagree with the idea of abolishing parties. It would make researching candidates extremely labor-intensive, since instead of simply finding out wether they are republican or democrat, you would have to research their views on a variety of topics. That would decrease the number of voters even more!

Will Flatt

@GUNFUN – Wrong, it would do the opposite. Again, if there are no GOP or Dems, the candidates would have to stand ON THEIR OWN. It would also prevent all of the shenanigans that come from political parties moving around “dark money” and so forth to give their people unfair advantage. People need to stop being so f#cking LAZY and actually look at the people they vote for!! Hiding behind a (D) or an (R) allows the LAZY VOTER to simply select a candidate WITHOUT ACTUALLY DOING THEIR DUE DILIGENCE. If this means lazy, low-information voters refuse to turn out… Read more »

GUNFUN

Do you want people to vote at all? Then we have to make it easier Will Flatt.

Will Flatt

@GUNFUN – I’d explain it to you but clearly you lack the capacity for comprehension. Also, history shows the more we make suffrage universal, the more we lose our Republic. What we need is to re-institute a basic competency test for voter registration; people who don’t have a clue what our form of government is, or how a government under our Constitution is supposed to function, or who fail to grasp the concept of basic Rights whether enumerated in the Bill of Rights or not, should be remanded back to civics class before being allowed to vote. And thanks for… Read more »

Wild Bill

@GF, Ahhh … no.

Wild Bill

@GF, Parties have turned government into money making opportunities and corrupted the very purpose of this republic. This has been going since Congress was known as the Continental Congress.

Wild Bill

@GF, The candidates could put up their bio. s on the web. Then we voters can research them. No muss. No fuss. The only remaining purpose for parties is to keep the federal government a money making machine.

Agostino

I once commented to someone that, but for guns, we’d be Canada. That individual replied, “so what’s wrong with that?” My answer is the absence of rights in Canada. Anything we consider a right under or Bill of Rights is a subject of permission under Canadian law subject to reversal.

Will Flatt

@Agostino – Absolutely right. Canada jails pastors for preaching the Bible condemnation of the sin of LGBTQ+ behavior, or Bible doctrine that contradicts muslim ideology. All commonwealth contries have rolled back all of the common-law Rights that were the birthright of the Englishman since the Magna Carta.

Welcome to the New World Order.

Bill

Exactly right on both posts Will Flat. Theyve learned, if that’s even possible with these people, that 4th generation warfare is a nightmare, look at Afghanistan and Iraq. A bunch of destitute with good rifles and some low tech ordinance can stop a superpower in its tracks if those wielding said rifles and low tech ordinance have guys and determination.

BobD

Pop quiz: What’s wrong with the phrase “banning the private transfer of long guns?” (or private anything for that matter). The insanity of that statement defies belief; its like trying to prevent the sun from coming up in the morning. Although Hogan vetoed this insult to intelligence you have to wonder about his motive. Another short-lived attempt to go after the soft target (us) while ignoring the hard target (criminals).

TNJEWBOY

Significant a good first step. I assume Governor Hogan wants to be reelected. The sponsor of both bills is Susan C. Lee. I wonder if she has any ties to CHINA? PS. Like a vast majority of these pricks in the Legislative branch of government. She needs to be removed and replaced by an ordinary person who has the brains to ask a question about each bill being proposed. “If this bill passes will it INCREASE the size, cost, reach and power of government?” Then if any of those conditions are met they should VOTE NO because we have too… Read more »

“The sponsor of both bills is Susan C. Lee.”

Really? So MD senators can sponsor House bills? Were you born stupid or have you read too many of Will Flatt’s and USA’s ass clown posts? Morons like you are why my vote gets cancelled out.

GUNFUN

Chill Will. Moe is just saying that a senator sponsors senate bills and representatives sponser House bills. Not saying anything about the quality job that Susan is doing.

Wild Bill

@GF, But Moe could be more diplomatic about it. Moe, continually, spreads disharmony and disunity among the readership, either accidentally or on purpose.

I had high hopes for Republican Governor Hogan when he was elected. I remember thinking…finally, a rational governor who supports our Constitution and Second Amendment rights…finally, the political tide is changing in the People’s Republic of MD and the process of removing tyrannical laws can begin in earnest. Sadly, that hasn’t occurred; nothing but disappoint after disappointment. I should have recalled that you can only trust the deeds, not the words, especially with politicians. Though it is mildly comforting to see that Hogan still has a shred of backbone remaining for our Second Amendment rights, given his veto for this… Read more »

What many fail to realize, and what drives Liberals in Maryland insane, is the plain fact that there are large areas of the State (no, I won’t name them) where citizens simply refuse to obey the illegal and un-Constitutional gun laws. They go about their lives as if they don’t exist. There is hope yet.

TNJEWBOY

Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

Remember the rural areas that produce food are the most armed.

Dems control the Legislature with a super majority, they will over-ride the veto.
