DENVER (Ammoland.Com)  Returning to opportunities long overlooked, many whitetail enthusiasts are again enjoying the challenges and rewards of hunting public lands. Historically, the magazine’s annual DIY issue has been released in mid-summer. However, in an effort to provide great information earlier than ever in the hunt-planning cycle, this year the decision was made to publish it in late spring.

“It can take a whitetail hunter some time to research hotspots and zero in on his or her best opportunities,” Editor-in-Chief, Gordon Whittington notes. “Especially with COVID-19 having led to so much uncertainly on the travel front, we wanted to provide this detailed info to our readers as early as we could.”

Featured in the special issue is a first-ever detailed breakdown of the best U.S. states for public-land whitetail hunting. Veteran DIY bowhunter Bernie Barringer drilled deep into the data to compile a unique look at what makes some places better options than others. The issue also contains several features on proven public-land hunting tactics, each written by a true DIY expert. There even are three features chronicling the exciting stories of record-class whitetails downed by public-land hunters, showing just how big the rewards of DIY deer hunting can be.
