U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- The Assembly and Senate Public Safety Committees will be hearing bills this week that will negatively impact your Second Amendment Rights. Contact members of the Assembly Public Safety Committee to oppose AB 2847 and AB 2362 and also contact Senate Public Safety Committee members and urge their opposition to SB 914.

AB 2847, sponsored by Assembly Member David Chiu (D-17), revises the criteria for handguns to be certified for sale by requiring a micro stamp in one place on the interior of the handgun (current law requires two imprinting locations).  The bill would also require the removal of three certified handguns from the roster for each new handgun added.  It should be noted that no new semi-automatics have been added to the handgun roster since microstamping was certified in 2013. This legislation is nothing more than means to reduce the options you have to protect yourself and your family.  To read more about California's microstamping law click here.

AB 2362, sponsored by Assembly Member Al Muratsuchi (D-66), authorizes the Department of Justice to levy monetary fines of up to $1,000 on licensed firearms dealers for minor technical violations.  This bill is an obvious attempt to drive dealers out of business for inconsequential violations.

Senate Public Safety:

Wednesday, May 20, 9 a.m.

SB 914, sponsored by Senator Anthony Portantino (D-25), would limit when a hunting license satisfies the requirements for purchasing a long gun for those under 21 by requiring the license to be currently valid.  This means an individual who has purchased a license for an upcoming season will not satisfy the requirements of the bill. Additionally, SB 914 narrows the exemptions of loans of long-guns to minors and raises the fees the California Department of Justice can charge for eligibility checks on certain ammunition purchases and precursor parts.

It’s kommiefornia, what do you expect. It will never change under the current settings and the dems out number the Republicans. There will be no changes that follow the constitution it will only get worse. You have the ninth circus court of seals and judges that seem to think that they can override a president and it’s true they have made it so they can. They think they should run the country just like the gov kumho in NY. I left kommiefornia for these very reasons along with gang violence and police that don’t care about theft because they are… Read more »

Elections have consequences. Unless the working people of California stand up against their political elites there is no hope. Compliance has long been the rule for most Californians, quiet submission to the authority of thugs and communists and now we are seeing the end result. When there is no hope people flee. I saw that happen in streams of refugee on four continents when I was an active Marine. I left CA upon retirement because I did not want to live under thugs as a civilian. Unless you take your government back your government will take you lock, stock and… Read more »

nrringlee: Those “elites” have corrupted voting procedures to their favor, as is done throughout the country. Voting by ballot is no longer effective in Calfornia, as in many other states.
