U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Despite the anti-gun laws passed by the General Assembly during the 2020 session having already taken effect on July 1st, anti-gun groups demanded and received a bill signing ceremony in Richmond. Governor Ralph Northam was more than happy to appease these groups backed by out-of-state interests to show a good return on their investment that put an anti-gun majority into the General Assembly.
These groups and legislators took the spotlight to call for a renewed push for comprehensive gun bans, something they were unable to achieve this year. Through their self-congratulatory messaging, there was no mention of the bipartisan opposition to these bills. There was also no mention to Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax’s comments that the so-called “red-flag” law fell short on constitutionally required due process. This is amidst the face of the largest expansion of gun ownership in recent history, where times of uncertainly have prompted many of our friends, family, and neighbors to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
The anti-gun majority in the General Assembly and these groups are not satisfied with the infringements they have imposed so far. They will be back in force in 2021. Law-abiding citizens must remain vigilant and active in the political process to defend the Second Amendment in the Commonwealth.

The most important pro-gun organization in VA is the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL). This is the organization which organized the Sanctuary movement in VA which (please don’t hammer me if I get a few percentage points wrong) got over 90% of the Counties and Cities in VA to vote to approve either legislation or a resolution causing those cities and counties to be Second Amendment Sanctuary’s. This really looks bad that the state where the NRA has their headquarters keeps passing anti-gun bills and old black face governor signs them into law.
Maybe the NRA leadership needs to keep their eye on their own backyard in stopping these outrageous laws, you can’t protect others if you can’t protect your own home.

Well Baldwin, I don’t agree with that, but in any case, do you have any better organizations you want to donate your money to in order to preserve your 2nd A. rights? I just upped for a lifetime membership, and sent $100 to Trump – and I will be voting for Trump in November – any other suggestions???

The VCDL has been integral in stopping bad legislation and getting good bills passed. They are the reason we went from “May Issue” to “Shall Issue”. The GOA also helped the VCDL with the Lobby Day 2020 in January. The NRA tried to sabotage Lobby Day – every year held on MLK day – by organizing, only a few weeks before their event, an NRA “Lobby Day” one week before the annual Lobby Day event. The response must get far beyond the current “NON-COMPLIANCE”.
There should be no doubt that, after Northam’s blackface incident, he was permitted to remain in office on the sole condition he became a tool of the radical left – and, right now, for the progressive mob, he is the sharpest tool in the shed. This simply illustrates the absolute depths of self-depravity that politicians will go to when they have no semblance of a belief in personal values. This isn’t uncommon in politicians, but Northam certainly sets a high bar.

It is impossible to reason with an unreasonable person. These so called democrats seem to be unreasonable at this time. Furthermore, it is impossible to convince some people that people who do not obey laws cannot be effected in any way by passing more laws. In other words if an “outlaw” does not obey laws how is it possible to think if just one more restrictive gun law is passed it will convince him or her to not carry a gun or commit a gun crime?
