CA Legislation Threatening Second Amendment Rights Up This Week

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- This week, several committees will be hearing bills that impact both your Second Amendment Rights and hunting heritage in California. Use the “Take Action” buttons below to contact members of the committees and urge their opposition to the following bills.

Tuesday August 4:

Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee 10:00 a.m.

SB 1175, sponsored by Senator Henry Stern (D-27), prohibits the possession of certain African species of wildlife.  The true goal of the bill is to ensure that individuals are not allowed to bring home lawful hunting trophies—even with the approval of the U.S. Government.

Wednesday August 5:

Senate Natural Resources Committee 9:00 a.m.

AB 3030, sponsored by Ash Kalra (D-27), seeks to preserve 30% of California's land areas, waters within the state and oceans off the coast by 2030. NRA joins a broad coalition of conservation-minded groups in opposing this legislation as it fails to clearly protect hunting and angling opportunities.

Assembly Public Safety Committee 2:00 p.m.

SB 914, sponsored by Senator Anthony Portantino (D-25), limits when those under 21 can purchase a long gun by requiring their hunting license to be currently valid. This means an individual who has purchased a license for an upcoming season will not satisfy the requirements of the bill. Additionally, SB 914 narrows the exemptions of loans of long-guns to minors and raises the fees the California Department of Justice can charge for eligibility checks on certain ammunition purchases and precursor parts.

TAKE ACTION

Friday August 7:

Senate Public Safety Committee 9:00 a.m.

AB 2362, sponsored by Assembly Member Al Muratsuchi (D-66), authorizes the Department of Justice to levy monetary fines of up to $1,000 on licensed firearms dealers for minor technical violations. This bill is an obvious attempt to drive dealers out of business for inconsequential violations.

TAKE ACTION

Last week, the Senate Public Safety Committee passed AB 2847. AB 2847 will now move to the Senate Appropriations Committee for further consideration.

AB 2847, sponsored by Assembly Member David Chiu (D-17), revises the criteria for handguns to be certified for sale by requiring a micro stamp in one place on the interior of the handgun (current law requires two imprinting locations). The bill also requires the removal of three certified handguns from the roster for each new handgun added. It should be noted that no new semi-automatic handguns have been added to the handgun roster since microstamping was certified in 2013. This legislation is nothing more than a means to reduce the options you have to protect yourself and your family. To read more about California's microstamping law click here.

We can’t count on the SCOTUS to uphold our 2A rights, SO, we need to get the message to Pres. Trump to issue an executive order protecting our 2A rights in every state, AND order the DOJ to investigate all these states that are infringing our constitution 2A right..

Sorry, but I couldn’t care less about California. I have my own state (home) to worry about. Californians need to clean up their own mess at home that they are responsible for creating and not move to other states and then try to recreate the same mess they left in California.

This article is for info purposes. We ALL need to know what tactics are being used anywhere to undermine our rights. They may be a minority in CA, but there are good people trapped behind those enemy lines. They at least need our moral support.

Democrat methods are tried and proven. Banning guns outright isn’t in their best interest however, removing access little by little has worked extremely well. Surround the gun culture and start chopping off little pieces until there is nothing left. The handgun roster first used as a safety ploy, every handgun being sold had to pass a drop or unintended discharge test. Manufacturers who want to sell guns here had to submit all versions of their firearms regardless of cosmetic differences of the same gun. The certifications all have expiration dates and face removal. Meanwhile more stringent requirements for the same… Read more »

What starts in Blue Utopias like California, New York and New Jersey will spread like a Prairie Fire (manifesto) across the land unless stopped at its source. The California Rifle and Pistol Association, Firearms Policy Coalition, GOA and 2AF are doing the lions share of work to defend against the Progressive New Left madness displayed by these bills. They are nuts. I know this because I went to their better universities and studied their manifestos and sources while they were reading the Cliff Notes versions. They are simply detached from the universe of reason. But they have power. So here… Read more »

It looks like that the only shooting that the lawmakers in California think is okay is with a needle so you can inject your illegal drugs into your body.
Just look at the large cities and the problems with the homeless camps in the downtown areas.

If AB2847 becomes law, it should strengthen our argument in court that the so-called approved list of handguns has nothing to do with safety. Why would safe handguns be removed from the list when one more is added? Other arguments include the fact that unlisted handguns can be transferred to peace officers and their widows. Don’t they need to be safe? And to suppliers that cater to the entertainment industry, including actors who want to practice shooting them? The whole precept is full of holes and the proposed law may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Sorry, but the law is not on your side and has nothing to do with justice.

It takes Courage to defeat Tyranny. The Founding Patriots would have been done shooting by now. They understood when the deck was stacked against them and there was No One else going to Fix the Problem. Courage can be a difficult choice. Compliance is so much easier.

‘Would have been done shooting by now’? Correct grammar can be a difficult choice. Ignorance is so much easier.

What is wrong with his phrasing? As the founders would have already been done shooting by now. For they would have started long before now.
Alas reading comprehension must not one of your superpowers.

The statement: Would have been done shooting by now, Infers they wouldn’t have waited this long to deal with the issue .Ignorance of history and the Courage to learn from it. Is far more dangerous than poor grammar. i.e being SuperStupidMan.

The Founding Fathers were MEN who loved Freedom. Not like today where so many vocal sunshine patriots talk a good game but refuse to move one inch lest they be in trouble or threatened to lose their ‘stuff’.
Freedom requires the blood of tyrants to be spilled…it always has.
