Ammunition Comment: On the state of ammunition ordering in 2020. All of us at AmmoLand News are well aware that there is very little to zero (0) inventory of in-stock ammunition in the popular .223, 5.56, or 9mm calibers that we can link to in daily deals. Any that we do find currently in stock sell out in minutes or hours. Regarding existing order cancelations. According to FTC rules if the delivery date on ammunition you already ordered gets pushed back the retailer has to cancel your order or in some cases give you the option to stay in line but for the new delivery date. If any of the pre-ordering, waiting, and running the risk of cancellations or other delays is a problem for you please do not order from them as we have no ability to address any issues with your order once you place it with Optics Planet which is a third party retailer from AmmoLand News. We are living in crazy times.

Only the woefully unprepared pay 40+cents per round for 9mm.

Only ten dollars over what it was a year ago.

It’s better than the $1.20/rd I saw yesterday on Cheaper Than Dirt. Glad I stocked up a few years ago. Thanks Obama.

Most people don’t have ammo because:

One of the reasons at the link was “The Government will save me.” There is an ammo shortage because of a number of supply constraints existing at a time of extraordinary demand. A large percentage of the demand increase is due to legitimate concerns about future government actions (insane new gun control laws). The response from some is: “The government has too much power – they shouldn’t be able to pass new gun control laws. The government doesn’t have enough power – they should be able to set prices and ration the sale of production output of private enterprise. We… Read more »

A couple of days ago I had a former co-worker call and ask if I had any ammo he could buy. I had not spoken to him for over eight years. This person was someone who always did the right thing, as I did, and occasionally it cost him, as it did me. I asked what he wanted and told him he could come the next day and pick it up. He got 100 rds of Rem 55gr 223 Rem, 125 rounds of 9mm 125gr +P JHP and 125 rds of 9mm 147 JFP, and 150 rds of 40S&W 180gr… Read more »

I’m all for being a good person. I just give ammo to other good people (friends and relatives who are not really into firearms but are trained and got caught a little short). We have a few really small mom & pop gun shops near me. One holds back ammo to sell to people who buy a gun from them and sells the rest at a higher but not really high price. Another one sells it for just barely over the “normal” price and never has any in stock. The third one cranked up the price and almost always has… Read more »

By the way, I’m not criticizing you, RoyD. There is another thread in which people are saying it is the role of government to set prices and ensure an equitable rationing of ammo.

RoyD,
If you do your searches with Google, they not only track you but also filter what they show you as results. Do yourself a favor and change your browser search engine to start.duckduckgo.com. They don’t sell or save your searches, and you can control the settings easily.

In regards to my search engine thanks for your concern. I am 65 and, according to my wife and truth be told almost everyone else that deals with me, an ornery old cuss. I just don’t care what anyone may wish to find out about me. My two sons are very tech savvy but I just learn enough to do what I wish to do for the time being. If it comes to it I am willing to die in a pile of brass. All in all I have had a pretty good life. My youngest son’s father in law… Read more »

RoyD,

I’ve got a few years of cussedness on ya. %-) and prolly at least as ornery. A niece introduced me to her soon-to-be-husband as slightly to the Right of Attila the Hun.
My concern isn’t so much with them tracking you, if you’re on the net you’re being tracked, it’s more with them making money off you and not giving you all the results that you deserve. It’s like getting the news from CNN, you get what they think you should know.

Somebody is making a lot of money.
This time last year I was buying 150 round boxes of Winchester NATO 9mm for $27.99. You never know what you have until you lose it.

Optics Planet is located in Illinois. They will not sell to in state residents, even though it is legal except in Cook county (Chicago). They will also not let you pick it up at the warehouse, so you could present your FOID card (Firearms Owners ID card). Why can other online resellers figure this out but one in our own state can’t. I will not buy anything from them until they straighten this out.

If you order now, you have the privilege of paying $20.49 per box.
