Ammunition Comment: On the state of ammunition ordering in 2020. All of us at AmmoLand News are well aware that there is very little to zero (0) inventory of in-stock ammunition in the popular .223, 5.56, or 9mm calibers that we can link to in daily deals. Any that we do find currently in stock sell out in minutes or hours. Regarding existing order cancelations. According to FTC rules if the delivery date on ammunition you already ordered gets pushed back the retailer has to cancel your order or in some cases give you the option to stay in line but for the new delivery date. If any of the pre-ordering, waiting, and running the risk of cancellations or other delays is a problem for you please do not order from them as we have no ability to address any issues with your order once you place it with Optics Planet which is a third party retailer from AmmoLand News. We are living in crazy times.

That’s a Long Time to Wait, on a Maybe Shipment…. I Have Either just a One 9mm FMJ or just One 9mm Hollow Point, Willing to Trade for either a Boat or Truck…. No Low Ballers!!!! I know what I have and know what they’re worth!!!!!
Just Kidding Folks…. Ammo Prices Always go Wonky During an Election Year… Remember the Madness from the Last Administration Ammo Craze?? Preparation is the Key, Or Reload Your Own, and Shoot all you want!!!!

Still too damn high no matter how long you have to wait for it. Not unlike asking to be mugged and thinking that it will hurt less if you put it off.

Later today I will taper crimp the 1000 rounds of 9mm 147gr plated ammo that I started on yesterday. It will have cost me about $120.00 to make it. This is in addition to the other 2000+ 9mm rounds I have loaded in the past month or so. Hey, idle hands are the Devil’s workshop. I am waiting on 1000 40 cal Speer 200gr Gold Dot HPs to arrive by mail today or tomorrow. Then I’ll modify the hollow points on them to my own specs. Being retired with “play” money laying around is tiring sometimes, but life is full… Read more »

I take it this means you haven’t yet discovered the wonders of the multi-stage progressive press? I don’t mean the power operated ones that you just monitor and keep in components, but more like a home gamer one of the Dillon square deal or RL550 type?
I still have two single stages (both RCBS) for larger cartridges and harder to load ones, but I like my old square deal. It’s only flaw is in its proprietary Dillon dies, but it sure turns out a lot of pistol ammo quick, fast, and in a hurry.

I never climbed onboard the progressive train. Started in ’70 with a Lyman Spar-T and then got a Rockchucker a year later and have worn out two RCs and currently have Two RCs, one in very good shape and one, that I traded my Rockchucker Supreme that I bought and didn’t like to my eldest son for his like new RC, that just sits bolted to the bench in the garage. I also use a Lee HandPress to prime and seat. It worked and works for me. My son has a Dillon 650 that he rarely uses anymore since he… Read more »

I used to shoot IPSC back in the late 80s-early 90s. I was never nationally ranked, but I won matches here and there, and usually placed in the top ten.The pressure of competition made me a much better shooter. It taught me to focus and to disregard pressure. I miss the other competitors. Besides lots of free advice and meeting lots of great friends, almost everybody was great. More than once I had other competitors help me with gun problems, ammo, or whatever. Other competitors helping an opponent to perhaps shoot them down a place? WTF? Name one other sport… Read more »

ONLY $73.99 for $40.00 worth of ammo !!! WHAT A DEAL !!!!!

Glad I have a few years worth of ammo. These prices are ridiculous!

We are so happy this is only a 43% increase in 5 months.

Greater profits for multinational corporations are what the entire scam is about:

If your anti-malware won’t allow you to click through our link, it can be found at: be aware that it states that the shipping date is 23-32 days.

Ordered this months ago at a cheaper price. They keep selling backorders and raising the price while repeatedly delaying shipments from the expected date. They do not follow the FTC rules referenced above either. Cynical minds would think they are racking up a catalog of orders to choose from and fulfilling the highest priced ones first (if at all), and that you won’t see your ammo until you are the highest priced order. This way, when the price goes back down, they still have your higher than normal priced order to fulfill.

Autsin Miller III

I’ve been thinking about this. What do we all hear about why prices are so high? I keep hearing it’s the law of supply and demand – freedom in action. They are free to ask what they want for it and we are free to buy or not buy, that’s what I keep reading and hearing. Seems to me one way for the consumer to take back the initiative is to participate more. Let’s all order four or five times as much as we normally would and when notified it’s in – cancel. When the suppliers find themselves sitting on… Read more »

Great buy 18.40 for what. Cost you $8 bucks (5) months ago.

Ok these were $64.99 October 9th. I know I ordered two.

Dogma Factor

Good luck if you place a per-order. You’ll likely not see it for a year! Or at least until ammo prices and supplies are back to normal.

Optics Planet is discriminatory in regard to the shipment of ammunition. Some states require essentially licenses to purchase guns and ammo. Even with these licenses. Optics Planet will not ship to those states. Sad, so I will not shop with optics Planet.

Dave in Fairfax

That’s always your choice, as to buy or not is for anyone.
We’re not making a political statement, just making people aware of a place to potentially buy ammunition.
Ammoseek shows the cheapest brass 9mm at $.054 per round. Sorry that just showed a discrepancy. The next cheapest is $0.56 per round. Despite the wait and the moral ramifications, this is nearly 1/2 the price.

Your points are correct, but this is also a forum where we can inform other shooters of the anti-gun practices of those who profess to be “on our side”. Optics Planet is one such company. As I’ve pointed out previously, they won’t even ship to Maryland, where there are NO restrictions!

Dave in Fairfax

Absolutely agree, and I, personally, have “issues” with funding the enemy. I was just trying to point out the alternatives and the lack of taking sides on the issue.
