NRA-ILA: The ATF Withdraws Pistol Brace “Guidance”

ATF Emblem NRA-ILA
The ATF has withdrawn their post on classifying stabilizing braced firearms after catching enormous flak from gun owners and politicians alike. IMG NRA-ILA

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- On December 23rd, ATF posted a document to its website indicating that its recently published Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with “Stabilizing Braces is withdrawn.

The withdrawal notice indicates that “[u]pon further consultation with the Department of Justice and the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, ATF is withdrawing, pending further Department of Justice review, the notice, and request for comments entitled ‘Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with ‘Stabilizing Braces’,’ that was published on December 18, 2020.”

The withdrawal notice came only hours after Rep. Richard Hudson (NC-08) and 89 other Congressional Representatives sent a letter to ATF asking the agency to “immediately take action to correct this injustice.”

As we reported, the “guidance” did nothing to fix ATF’s history of confusing and conflicting determinations on pistol braces.

We would like to thank the NRA members, gun owners, and members of Congress who stood up for the Second Amendment rights of all Americans. And, special thanks to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell  and Congressman Hudson for taking the lead in pushing ATF to rethink its arbitrary and unhelpful “guidance.”

Ok, Hello, not trying to be a smart ass here but from what I read the day the actual docment posted, they were only withdrawing the notice and request for comments section for pistol braces, not the actual change of classification of what a pistol brace is or trying to change pistols into SBR’s. From this article. (AmmoLand.com)- On December 23rd, ATF posted a document to its website indicating that its recently published Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with “Stabilizing Braces” is withdrawn. Taken from the actual document itself. Deputy Attorney General, ATF is withdrawing, pending further Department of Justice review, the ((notice and… Read more »

Thanks for posting that article. Barr was a horrible pick for AG. At the time his name came up I was speaking with a firearm owner who was active in the Republican Party at the county level. He was saying how great Barr was going to be after Sessions was disloyal to Trump. I explained Barr’s history with Ruby Ridge and his anti-gun stances. His response was that Barr had to be good because Trump picked him and Barr shouldn’t be judged based on his past. Even though the Weaver family was well-trained in the use of firearms, the federal… Read more »

Trust the atfe? When biden and camella get into office I still remember what they promised. I still remember Ruby Ridge and Waco and watching unarmed, handcuffed people face down on the floor getting kicked in the head. I still remember the firearms they stole and were ordered by the court to return and never did. I still remember people being beaten in their drive way.

Arm up and carry on

And: Prior to the government contacting them, the Weaver family had done nothing wrong and were living their life peacefully. All they wanted was to be left alone. The government wanted Randy to help them and Randy was under no obligation to help them. He wanted to mind his own business. The whole mess picked up speed with an alleged inconsequential technical violation of the NFA of 1934 for which Randy was never convicted. The modifications that were made were orchestrated as part of a set-up to create leverage against him in order to coerce him to do what he… Read more »

Yes Sir, I am aware. I bet I know the batfe “agent” who talked Randy into cutting that shotgun barrel 1/4″ short of 18″. The f.b.i. sniper who murdered the woman by shooting her through the back of her head as she tried to enter her home while carrying her baby gets to live with that the rest of his life. Then, he has to face the LORD. When government people use the same tactics that satan used in the garden of Eden they are not just criminal, they are evil. Government’s job is to protect and further the freedoms… Read more »

Just for readers who don’t already know what happened let me correct you as to what was happening when Vicki was killed. “Sniper shots: R. Weaver wounding, V. Weaver killing[edit]Before the negotiators arrived at the cabin, FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi, from a position over 200 yards (180 m) north and above the Weaver cabin,[103] shot and wounded Randy Weaver in the back with the bullet exiting his right armpit, while he was lifting the latch on the shed to visit the body of his dead son.[104] (The sniper testified at the later trial that he had put his crosshairs on Weaver’s spine, but Weaver moved… Read more »

If you think this is a dead issue just wait until Biden and his cronies get in office they will try everything they can to put a stop to firearm ownership including magazines, braces, etc…
The people who were fooled into voting democrat are wanting to make America into a country that we won’t to live in once they get their way.
They all see the world through their Rose colored glasses, pitiful.

This was with absolutely NO help from the NRA. There are reasons why I stopped paying them money and went to someone else. This is because WE THE PEOPLE spoke, as well as 89 congressmen. NOT the nra.

The NRA is famous for taking credit for the actions of others. It’s the non military version of “stolen valor”. It doesn’t endear the NRA to me, but then I haven’t been a member since 1984. That was the year they stabbed me in the back for the last time. I no longer let them behind me unobserved. They are criminals, now led by the crooked Mr. LaTrine.
