Filibuster Preservation Bought Two Years For The Second Amendment

Washington DC – -(AmmoLand.com)- The decision by Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin to keep the legislative filibuster has given Second Amendment supporters something they desperately needed: Time. The next two years will be critical, both to shift the Senate landscape and to also regain the House.

Sinema and Manchin are not the most reliable of champions. In 2018, we noted that Martha McSally was a better choice as compared to the former. The latter could have been replaced by West Virginia Attorney General Pat Morrissey. Those two races, and the failure to beat Jon Tester loom large now. Had we won, it would mean control the Senate stayed in GOP hands, and it would have been a massive check on the Biden-Harris regime.

That is not the case, though. But by keeping the filibuster, it means the Supreme Court keeps its sure 5-4 majority on Second Amendment cases (6-3 if Roberts wants to influence who writes the rulings). That means there is a chance for key Second Amendment cases, like the Duncan case, to reach the Supreme Court, and shift that landscape in our favor.

This also will halt some of the worst legislative efforts, like campaign “reform” legislation that really has silencing opposition to anti-Second Amendment politicians and legislation as its aim. Again, we have just seen that our chances of taking back Congress from those who would steal our freedoms have improved.

But more importantly, it gives us time to win a lot of the local and state elections that will dictate the course of the 2024 presidential election. These state and local races matter big-time, and in many cases, they take much less effort to win than a congressional race, much less some of the statewide races.

Here, though, is the most important thing that Second Amendment supporters now have time to do: They have time to have those conversations that can change people’s minds about Second Amendment issues. The Biden-Harris regime is, as many predicted, governing in a manner to please the most extreme elements – and this is a chance for Second Amendment supporters to capitalize on this.

The fact that we are confronting what has to be the most hostile regime to our Second Amendment rights in America’s history require we step up. To build strength for the 2021 off-year elections and 2022 midterms that will shape future elections, Second Amendment supporters should support the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action and Political Victory Fund.

The pleas being used today in order to try to convince Americans to pass laws requiring giving up the guns here is the same argument used successfully, throughout Europe and Asia, to do just that in the twentieth century (the bloodiest century in mankind’s history).   Truer words were never spoken then those stating “those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.” The word doomed is put there for a reason and if you do not know the history of that bloody twentieth century you probably will not understand it. That statement is very true when it comes to communism,… Read more »

Arizona Don, A significant percentage of the firearm community is demanding Socialism/Communism and they don’t even know it: Greater government intervention in the marketplace (while not wanting the government to intervene in their own earnings) More forced redistribution of wealth, in its many forms (while believing the huge lie that the middle class is paying the bulk of federal income taxes) Greater militarization of society (deputizing 22 million veterans to be Special Deputies for the US Marshals Service, putting the military in charge of airport security, etc.) Restricting access to body armor to government employees Common sense gun storage laws… Read more »

Just saw another real-men-of-genius idea: ban guns in high crime neighborhoods.

Kamala has a staffer monitoring this website for ideas. If she campaigns on all of the above totalitarian ideas, a significant percentage of the firearm community will vote for her.

Coulda, Woulda, shoulda…….the thought that regaining control of House and Senate in 2022 is very wishful thinking. First, we don’t know if means to introduce voting irregularities will be sufficiently addressed by then, Second, the opposition is emboldened and even more “legitimate” voters may come out of the woodwork; legal or illegal, there was a massive number of voters on both sides and seemingly, incumbents have the advantage.

exactly….the last election period that remains incomplete in a district in NY is the undoing of the integrity of our Republic. Discussing the next election is the ostrich talking blah blah blah in the surrounding dirt that surrounds his sunken head in the figurative sand. It’s is over. We lost. The Republic is NO MORE folks. We are living in an inverted democracy where all is in place as before; however, nothing functions appropriately.

Surround yourself with a like minded demographic. Relocate and survive in the event things go hot.

A small victory in a long battle that rages on. I feel though we were cheated out of the presidency, if we can change voting structure where it wont happen again and then gain the majority in the house and senate in two years there is a strong possibility that we could win in 2024. Depending if we have a constitutionalist president or a Rhino, we could take back our country and get gun laws on the right track to where they will never take them away again. We needed a vote on reciprocity when it didn’t happen because of… Read more »
