U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Governor Newsom’s disdain for the Second Amendment is no secret.  This weekend he showcased his typical self, by playing politics with the Second Amendment, directing his staff to continue to push even more draconian laws in the Golden State:

“I have directed my staff to work with the Legislature and the Attorney General on a bill that would create a right of action allowing private citizens to seek injunctive relief, and statutory damages of at least $10,000 per violation plus costs and attorney’s fees, against anyone who manufactures, distributes, or sells an assault weapon or ghost gun kit or parts in the State of California.”

In response, the NRA issued the following statement:

“Newsom’s statement comes at a time where brazen crime continues to plague the state.  But, instead of rightfully focusing his attention on criminal conduct, he continues to harass and demonize law-abiding gun owners. The NRA will fight this bogus effort in the legislature and the courts. “

“Gov. Newsom misunderstands the actions of the Supreme Court – and the limits of his war on lawful gun ownership. His promise to run roughshod over the Second Amendment is little more than political theater. He and fellow Democrats should proceed at their own peril:  the American people will not tolerate another taxpayer-funded assault on constitutional freedom.”

Hassle for those in the business, but they should easily win every case. Judge has two strong reasons to toss each case: standing (one bringing suit must have identifiable loss) and FOPA.
Unfortunately defendants must respond, so will have legal costs. Now if they counter sue for legal costs plus punitive damages, then they are doing it right. Can lawyers representing plaintiff be sued for bringing unfounded malicious suits? Those lawyers will be only ones with assets to seize.

Dee

Nah it probably be set up exactly like the bullshit abortion law in Texas.

Not the lawyers. The lawyers are just hired to use their skills to represent any given plaintiff or defendant.

The real issue with lawyers is that so many of them aspire to become legislators. Unfortunately, we’ve let them become an incredibly high proportion of government officials up and down the chain.

Wild Bill

I am more and more convinced that we, as a nation, send the lawyers to Washington, District of Corruption, because we can not stand to have them … anywhere near us!
