They cant give this junk away. AR500 STEEL IS AN ABRASION RESISTANT ALLOY FOR INDUSTRIAL USE IN MINING AND ROCK AND DIRT OPERATIONS. ITS HEAVY AND CHEAP. BUT IF YOU CANT RUN IN AN AR500 VEST OR SIT DOWN AND CANT GET UP THEN YOUR LIFE IS AT RISK. WHO FIGHTS SITTING IN A CHAIR ?

You are woefully ill-informed…

I already own a III+ plate carrier and a soft armor III vest, but I bought one of these to keep in the go bag in the back seat. The coverage of this carrier’s plate is minimal. For a large body wearer, it’s near useless. I’m medium build, 175 at 5 ’11”, 34″ waist, 43″ chest, and this BARELY covers vital zones. For a grown man, 11″ x 14″ (154 sq. in., but minus upper corners) is a much better size, although one can never get too much coverage. 9″ x 9″ (81 sq. in. to start with, but being octagons, cutting off the four full corners leaves only about 67 sq. in.!) would be awfully skimpy for an adult. By the way, the plate thickness also matters. The weigh suggests that these are 1/4″, which is not bad for AR500 armor. Thicker than that, the weight is much more. A vest with 11″ x 14″ armor, plus 6″ x 8″ side… Read more »

Do not buy one of these unless you are buying for a 10 yearold child. These will only cover an adult on a direct heart shot. I feel I totally wasted my money by buying one.

Jasper, I routinely recommend armor to friends and family, when I don’t just give it to them. What I tell them, if they’re buying their own, is to take a sheet of construction paper (bigger than regular sheets of paper) and cut it to the size the armor is listed as. Put it high on their chest and see if that gives them enough vital organ coverage to feel secure. These 9X9s are designed for people who have, and can afford, nothing. They are good for children and small women. They are literally better than nothing. Since they are Level… Read more »

They’re only meant to protect vitals, nothing more…
